From USA Today bestselling author Willow Winters comes a heart-wrenching, edge-of-your-seat gripping, romantic suspense.

I saw her from across the bar.
My bar. My city. Everything in that world belonged to me.
She stood out from the crowd like she was looking for someone to blame for her pain.

That night, I felt the depths of my mistakes. I felt my scars. With a single glance, I knew her touch would take it all away. I craved it more than anything.

I knew she would be a tempting, beautiful mistake.
One I would make again and again... even if it cost me everything.

Willow started writing after having her little girl, Evie, December 2015. All during her pregnancy with Evie she continued to read and she only wanted to read romance. She was reading a book a day — sometimes two.

In January 2016 Willow was staying up late with Evie and just thinking of all these stories. They came to her constantly so she finally sat down and just started writing. She always wanted to do it so she figured, why not? Today Willow cannot be happier for making that decision!

OMG Willow Winters, what have you done to me? Just when you think her writing can’t get any better, Bam! A gut wrenching, grab you by the seat of your pants and won’t let go romance! I love Jase, and he is all mine ladies! An explosive page turner that kept me enthralled right from the start. Brilliantly amazing! I absolutely loved it.

I love this book. It blew me out of the water for two big reasons. The first is that it is sexy AF. Hot does not do it justice. I don’t know how W Winters did it but she showcases all these crazy extreme sexual proclivities in such a natural safe way. My favorite thing is that I was shocked, but shocked more at my reaction to it and mostly at the fact that I didn’t feel like it was trying to be shocking. What’s the saying “don’t try just be”, this book just is! The second reason is Jase. I needed Jase. The Cross brothers need Jase. I could not have asked for more from the hero Mr. Jase Cross than what was delivered in this book. Strong, intimidating, demanding and yet caring and gentle. Jase is every single thing! Its amazing to go into a book not knowing what you really want or what to expect but kinda hoping for something to then be hit with two characters (lets not forget Bethany) and a story that bowls you over because its more than you could have wished for. I die for this couple.

***5 STARS***
"I hate how he makes me feel so much. There's a spark between us I can't deny. He doesn't hide it, and that only makes this all hotter. It's in the way he talks to me, his candor and tone. The way his gaze seems to see through me while also seeing all of me, every bare piece of me. There is nothing that isn't raw in the tension that times us together. Raw and thrilling....and terrifying."

Jase Cross is the next to the youngest brother of the Cross brothers (there are five in total). Their family are crime bosses and they run things with an iron fist. Jase is not drawn to Bethany out of natural attraction but because they cross paths and he is not happy. Bethany Fawn is a nurse who is dealing with the death of her sister. She is trying to find out who killed her sister and blames Jase.

The interaction between Jase and Bethany is so raw and passionate...even volatile at times. You definitely go through a range of emotions in this dark romance. As with all dark romances you are confronted with good vs. evil and will you root for evil. I definitely did root for the anti-hero in this one.

This book is an emotional roller coaster. Dealing with the interactions between the couple as well as outside influences. It is a dark romance so the hero is no boy scout by no means but he cannot deny his attraction to the heroine and neither can she deny her attraction to him. The book is full of passion and desire and also some KINK (stuff I had never heard of before...so be forewarned) but it is hot.

It ends on a cliffhanger so I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I read this one in one sitting. It was so good. Add this one to your TBR pile if you love a crime dark romance novel. You will love Jase.

Another Cross Brother Yay

⭐⭐⭐⭐

ღ I’ve said this before about W Winters books, but I’ll say it again this author knows how to lure you in from the very beginning. She shows you right away this one is gonna be dark read… I was on edge of my seat from the prologue

➦.. Bethany Fawn is mourning the loss of her sister. And at this point she’ll do just about anything to find out who killed her older sister Jenny. Lil does she know that she about to make deal with the so-called Devil in Beth’s eyes

➦.. Jase Cross run the The Red Room Club & is the ultimate bad guy… The man has a dark side to him as well. So dark that he ends up make up contract with Bethany Fawn, so she can pay off her sister’s debt a whopping $300,000.00

Each & every book W Winter writes about a Cross brothers, you think this brother is worse then the last one’s story. The Cross brothers just have dark side to them & we just love our dark & bad boys in our reads

♥●•I loved the book. It was addictive. I am looking forward to reading the next book (A Single Kiss). Must say W Winters has that sense of leaving you wanting more without realize it

► only reason I gave this book 4 stars is Cuz there was no forewarning that there was going to be another book- I honestly thought this was a Standalone book

The ending just left me with my mouth hanging open

➦ 💕 would I recommend this book: Hell Yes. I just beg that Ms Winter’s don’t drag this one out

➦📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion & my honest review 💕

➦ 💕 I received an EXCLUSIVE copy of this book in exchange for my honest review of it. 💕

So before I start I am going to step up on my soapbox, so bare with me. (lol) This book ends in a CLIFFHANGER. Nowhere on the ARC sign up sheet for this book, or in the synopsis was it even hinted at that this was not going to be a standalone book. This type of things annoys me to NO end! I would not have signed up had I known this ahead of time because I am just not a fan of one couple's story being dragged out over several books. And since I gave up halfway through Carter's four-book series, it didn't even occur to me that it was part of that series featuring the CROSS brothers (I read a TON of books and I am going senile, so the name didn't even register). Why is it so hard just to include the fact a book ends on a cliffhanger in your sign up information or in the synopsis?

description

Anyway, now that I have gotten that off my chest, I will say that I did enjoy this book (hence the 4-Stars). I'm am quite a fan of this author's writing even if I am not a fan of her obsessive need to stretch stories out ad nauseam. She knows how to suck you into a story that is for sure. It is a relatively short book, so it moves at a very quick pace. The "relationship" is pretty insta, and there really isn't a lot of angst. There is no OW or OM drama. The sex scenes were hot, and both main characters were likable. Not really much left to say. I liked it. I'm intrigued and I want to know what happens next. However, unless the next book is the conclusion for this couple, I doubt I will continue on with the story. That is just a "ME" issue and if you have no such hangups then I say; "go forth and enjoy!"

Bethany “Beth” Fawn is mourning the loss of her sister. Wishing she could have helped her sooner, Beth is determined to get answers and find those responsible. In digging for information, Beth discovers a local club owner, Jase Cross, who may know more than he is willing to admit. However, Jase has his own agenda and Beth must agree to his terms to know the truth. Not knowing who to trust is causing Beth distress but she relinquishes to Jase’s brand of pain in order to forget.

“She doesn’t want mercy. She wants it to end. I can see it so clearly.”

In starting this book, I was under the impression it was a standalone, but it presents as more of an ongoing storyline about the Cross brothers, which encompasses four books in the Merciless series. Therefore, getting a sense of Jase’s background and his reasons for helping Beth is vague. On the surface, Jase has lots of appeal – sexy, kinky and an alpha, but more about him would have strengthened his character. As for Beth, more details about her sister and their relationship also would have helped enrich the complexity of Beth’s need for vengeance. Interspersed throughout the book are some hot scenes between Jase and Beth, but I was hoping for more development in their relationship.

“It’s more than just fucking her, this is about owning her and I don’t know when that happened.”

For those who have been following this series, perhaps there won’t be any gaps in character introductions, development and the plot-line. Plus, this ends on a giant cliffhanger, which could be fine; however, this book is not a single standalone.

A Single Glance is a romance suspense offering sexy times with an ongoing plot-line filled with action that will keep you guessing what’s going to happen next in this underground world.

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Type: Book 1 of a series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Bethany Fawn was desperate for an answer. Her quest for justice took her to a notorious club without yielding any result. But her presence didn’t go unnoticed by Jase Cross and he wanted explanations as much as she did.

“I feel like my life is on the precipice of changing forever. And I don’t want to go back to the girl I was, but I don’t like where this is headed either. I don’t have answers, and I need answers.”

I was interested in this book when I first saw the blurb. I’m aware the character appeared in author’s previous books/series, but reckoned it could stand on its own because there wasn’t any indication on the blurb or in the book that knowledge of previous books are needed. Apparently that wasn’t the case.

I remember thinking he was the kind of man who could lure you in so easily and you wouldn’t know what hit you … until he was gone. He had that pull to him, a draw that made you want to go to him just to see if he’d look your way.

As a new reader of the Cross bothers world, I needed more background information on Jase and his family dynamic especially when the author’s previous characters made appearance in this book. The significance of certain events was lost on me which lessened my connection to the storyline.

“Sometimes the things that cause you pain can bring you so much pleasure.”

I liked how sexy and commanding Jase was and enjoyed his kinky disposition. However, I felt the plot was stretched out to accommodate more than one book. I’d love to see more things unraveling in between.

A Single Glance is a story of forbidden attraction. The story will continue in the next book of the series.

I haven’t read a full length novel by Willow Winters, only short stories and novellas, yet her writing has always grabbed my attention no matter the story’s length. She has this way of setting a captivating and thrilling atmosphere that will wrap itself around your mind, luring you towards a dark and eerie, though beautifully enthralling romance. A Single Glance is an intense romantic suspense narrative packed with an abundance of unexpected twists that will evoke an endless, unfathomable amount of heart-wrenching emotions.

“Sometimes the things that cause you pain can bring you so much pleasure.”

Bethany Fawn is in desperate need of finding answers, but her admirable and determined quest in search of justice only pushes her towards a darkened world of heartache and criminal activity. Jase Cross is an undeniable enigma; a man with an imposing attitude, wicked dark side and inescapable danger surrounding him and his brothers.

“I feel like my life is on the precipice of changing forever. And I don’t want to go back to the girl I was, but I don’t like where this is headed either. I don’t have answers, and I need answers.”

A Single Glance captured my attention straight away when I finished reading the intriguing blurb. Nowhere does it suggest this will be more than a standalone, or that it will conclude with a much dreaded cliffhanger. So, I figured no knowledge of Jase’s brothers is required, but that wasn’t apparent.

Being a reader who doesn’t know anything about the Cross brothers, I needed more background information to really appreciate the complexity of Bethany’s situation and understand her tumultuous relationship with Jenny. Details are vague and often difficult to follow the way, I imagine, is originally intended.

Regardless, Bethany and Jase have an intense chemistry, forbidden attraction and erotically charged encounters that made me want more of them. And the plot line is interesting enough to keep me reading.

So......I kinda loved it! Nope, not kinda. I flat out loved it! I've been waiting for Jase's story since his first scene in Merciless. He was always the steady brother. The brother who kept Carter in line (as much as that was possible) so to speak. He was sweet to Aria, but always maintained an air of mystery. In short, he was my kryptonite.

In A Single Glance, he's everything I wanted and more. A man with a hard edge, but also caring and sweet. He's dangerous, sexy, and complete gone for his girl. What more could I ask for in my newest BBF?

This book picks up after the events of the Merciless Saga, but can be read as a standalone. Jase and Bethany's story will entertain and thrill readers who enjoy an edge of suspense and mystery with their romance. I cannot wait to read more. I need the next book, RIGHT NOW!

4 1/2 **** I have a new alpha Cross brother fantasy. Jase Cross is dark & mysterious he knows just how to make a Bethany skin light fire. Bethany Fawn is a nurse and is mourning her sister Jenny and Jase Cross see her across the room at They Red Room and I believe Jase recognize her mourning due to the brother he lost that he learned it should have been him he feels the same mourning. They want to lose themselves in each other and they do into each other so they can't remember the pain.

The Cross brothers have a new enemy by the name of Walsh that keep showing up, however the same old enemy is still there in the shadows who was responsible for their young brother Cross dying "Marcus" Now they have to look for the queen which Marcus just made the ultimate move.

REVIEW: DNF

It's always sad for me that when a book promises to be good based on the blurb alone - and then it doesn't live up to said blurb. Such is the case with this one, for me. With the synopsis being as enticing as it was, and the cover being as sexy as it was, this was sure to be a slam dunk for me. I was positive of that. The teasers alone made me drool for this sexy story that was going to introduce me to the world of Willow Winters. Unfortunately....

The story felt noisy. And without having a more tactile way to say it, it just felt like there was too much background noise for me to even get to know Jase and Bethany. She has the most amazing name though, don't you think? Anyway, this was a spinoff from her Merciless series and was supposed to be able to be read as a standalone and was Jase Cross's story. I'm not denying it can be read as a standalone, but what I got was a very confused mind while trying to settle into their story. It picked up after a bit, but then I found myself squinting awkwardly at how forced it was feeling.

I didn't know of Jase's personality before, so I didn't go into this knowing who he was and his power in the city (beyond the synopsis). I know others that read the Merciless series first have a better understanding for him and this powerful world he lives in. I just don't think he was 'set up' very well for me - a newbie, so he came across as inept, especially when his first action was an "oops" on how he handled it. Yeah, yeah...I know. He had to stumble across Bethany and be completely enamored with her at first glance. I get it. But then we have Bethany, a very strong and independent woman who is beyond stubborn, and she cannot understand her feelings for Jase at all - especially given the situation she was in. Well, book-me, as stubborn as we both are, neither can I. I am pretty sure I wouldn't be feeling those feelings right away, but that's just me. I'd be too scared to feel my nether regions perking up. But this is also exactly why it felt so forced to me. I wasn't endeared to the characters. Their plight. Their story. Their background. It was quick and immediate and ZERO buildup for any kind of sexual tension at all. Maybe it was the words. Maybe it was the characters. Maybe it was the written storyline. Either way, instead of making me smile with anticipation of the debauchery ahead, and letting me "meet" these characters and get a feel for their actions, it made me roll my eyes and wonder where all this desire was coming from. I don't think it reads well as a standalone is what I'm basically trying to say here. I'm probably failing miserably, and for that I apologize profusely. I just know that by the time I gave up, I was mad at the story and the characters and their actions, because I wanted to love it and I couldn't get into it. Here's the deal though; I bought Merciless so that I could get into this world, this frame of mind for the story, so that I could better understand the buildup and the depravity behind the characters and the world I would then be inhabiting because I don't feel like I got that at all. I will try again. I am determined.

I guess I walked into this one with the expectation for.....more. I mean, I didn't think I was expecting too much, but I definitely didn't get what I thought I was going to get. And most definitely not the story I wanted. I gave this book until 54% and then decided I was done. So instead of trying to finish it, not understanding the characters' thought processes or actions or feelings, I decided this one just wasn't for me - YET. I am sure the surprise cliffie tainted me greatly, but I'm not ready to admit that yet, either. Just give a girl a little warning. *cries*

Good Lord, I need a minute. My heart is pounding and my eyes won't stop flying across the page needing more. The clear reason: I finished a Willow Winters book. Without a doubt, A Single Glance is everything I could have wanted for Jase Cross' book and so much more! I don't think I can love this man anymore than I do. And that ending? Winters did the damn thing once again as she delivered another mindblowing book that left me on the edge of my seat. Jase and Bethany were FANTASTIC! I don't think I caught my breath once reading as I flat out devoured this amazing, sexy and intense read!

Without giving away any spoilers, A Single Glance continues the evolving storyline from the Merciless series where Jase is now investigating the angry and captivating woman who caught his eye at the Red Room and the connection between her and a common enemy. But as soon as they meet the charged sexual chemistry between them is explosive and can not be denied. And when Bethany goes looking for answers, she is unprepared for the deliciously sinful, dark and dangerous Jase Cross and all of his demands.

This story is so intense and erotic and just outright outstanding. Jase was like a panther: silent and lithe in his unrelenting pursuit but a predator nonethless who set his sights on his prey. I loved Bethany so much as her grief was almost visceral but her strength and bravery was so clearly apparent. Likewise, Winters skillfully highlights how dark and damaged Jase and Bethany were together but as they became further entrenched in each other, and within each other's arms, they found a temporary respite from the raging storms in their lives. I absolutely loved this story so much and am left spellbound and wanting more!! Bravo! 6 stars! ~Ratula

A delicate disaster in the making 🥀

Well holy hot damn cupcake!! As soon as I started reading this book, like literally, the prologue, I couldn’t stop thinking the words, “haha gotcha!” would be there on the next page. Big, bold and bright. But no, this was no joke. If the first few pages of this book don’t make you want to keep reading, well, I’m no shrink, but there’s definitely something wrong with you, buddy 🤷🏼‍♀️

This book is about a guy called Jase and a girl called Bethany. The very first few chapters take you back one month, where there is some background into the pair and their lives. You don’t really find out much about Jase at this point - if you’ve read any of Willow’s other books, you’ll recognise his name - but Bethany has had a really tough life over the last few years. It broke my heart reading some of her story.

But let me tell you, the time these two have their first meet is honestly explosive! No holding back on either end! I mean, someone tries to shoot someone and then that someone shoves that other someone in the trunk of their car! This book is super fast paced, that’s for sure! 😅

I should probably rewind a little... Beth is looking for answers. She’s been given a lot of time off from work so she has plenty of time on her hands. She ends up at Jase’s club, The Red Room, causing a scene, kicking and screaming. I have to say, I definitely didn’t like the name of the club very much. I think it could’ve been a named a little more inventively, but that’s only a small detail in the big scheme of things.
However, all is not what it seems...

I love to read reviews and get a real sense of a book and what it means to other people, but I hate writing them myself. I always worry that I’m going to give away way more than I mean to! 🙈😂 I’m going to leave this review with a few points...

* Edge of your seat read? ✔️
* Love and hate? ✔️
* Hot and steamy? ✔️
* Whirlwind? ✔️
* Danger? ✔️
* Raw sadness? ✔️
* Emotions? ✔️
* Cliffhanger? ✔️🙈😩

This book is definitely worth reading!! I stayed up all night to finish it (apologies if this review makes absolutely no sense! 🤦🏼‍♀️😂) Bring on book two. Now. Please! 🥳

I feel like I am the only person on the planet who did not like this book. Maybe I need to let it sit for a little bit and try reading it again. I felt like I got dropped into the middle of a story line and never fully figured out what was going on. I didn't read the other books in the series but this is supposed to be a stand-alone.

For me, there was absolutely no emotional connection between Jase and Bethany. He took advantage of her when she was grieving and desperate to find answers about what happened to her sister. There is a whole lot of hot sex in the book. Normally I like that but I sort of stopped reading when the hero set the heroine on fire in the name of pleasure. But, no worries, she stabs him in return.

This has my attention

This is the first book in this trilogy and has left a lot of questions unanswered. Jase is surrounded by secrets and I am happy to continue this series to uncover all of them. Bethany has lost her sister and will do anything to find out what happened to her. This is a sexy read and I am going straight into the next book.

Oh my gosh! You are killing me Willow.
This by far is my favorite Cross boy. I love Jase. The Cross boys all have their demons but Jase shoulders his own and everyone else’s. Bethany is so torn between her sister’s death and love, that you wonder how she can be so strong. Neither Jase nor Bethany feel the deserve more but they really deserve happiness.
This book is so good, well except for the ending, that I can’t wait for the rest.

Yeah no, this didn't work out for me.

Why am I reading so many "enemies-to-lovers" stories lately that aren't real hate-love stories? What happened to them? Where are they?
In this book it was always "we shouldn't, we shouldn't" but I didn't see any reason why not. It was just how their relationship started out that wasn't ideal. Beth never really hated him, she just hated him on principle because he was the only connection she got to her sister's killer. So there were a few unconvincing "I hate you"s and then her (and his) feelings developed awfully fast which brings me to my next point.

They had 4 measly encounters, 2 at which he brings her to orgasms repeatedly and the 4th where they had sex. At that point, both their feelings were already too deep for me to understand why exactly they couldn't let go of each other. They never had a real conversation and I need those to see if they fit and make a good couple together. The steamy scenes were hot, no doubt about that but the whole emotional part was missing. I felt no connection to either of them and questioned them constantly about absolutely everything.

Man, I forgot how beautifully this author writes.

For those of you who don't know, her writing tugs at heart strings - speak words that should be intimate yet are shockingly satisfying to hear. That's all you feel when you read her novel. And no - I'm not kidding.

Even in this book I found myself stopping so many times and just focusing on her words

Like he can see right through me, but he doesn’t want to. He wants to see me.

I feel like my life is on the precipice of changing forever. And I don’t want to go back to the girl I was, but I don’t like where this is headed either. I don’t have answers, and I need answers.

What answers do you need?”
My patience with her is higher than it should be. I’m softer and more willing to be gentle with her.

And my personal favourite

"I don't love you"
"I don't love you too"

There is one fabulous novel, that I would definitely recommend. If you like Dark Romance, this is a must.

Till the next book then,
Happy Reading Everyone❣!

I can't begin to sum up my thoughts on this book. Yes it is hot and sexy and gripping, but it is so much more than that. It's raw and honest and moving and beautiful. My heart aches. How the grief felt by both of the lead characters is portrayed is so moving and perfect.

I was drawn into this story; it sucked me in from the very start and has yet to let me leave. Willow has such a way with words, they really speak to you. You feel the words as you read them. It is beautiful and heart breaking and inspiring.

Bethany is struggling to come to terms with the death of her sister. She is at her lowest but shows a strength that she never knew she had. Jase is a Cross brother. He finds himself drawn to Beth, recognising the pain that is pulling her under. These two characters are complete opposites, drawn together by grief with explosive consequences.

One of my favourite books ever. So much emotion is put into each and every chapter. You can feel all the emotions described. I lost myself in these words and I hope you do too.

e-ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

Series: Irresistible Atrraction #1

Synopsis:
The book starts with a prologue, hinting at what's to follow. The story then begins from one month before. Jase Cross runs a bar, The Red Room. He spots her there for the first time, Bethany (Beth) Fawn, who's there to demand answers for her sister, Jennifer's, death (her only family).

Beth is a nurse in the local youth mental hospital, Rockford. She searched for Jenny after her disappearance, with the information that her sister used to talk about; Cross brothers, a name – Marcus, and a location – The Red Room. During her leave from work, she makes it her mission to find out who killed her sister. Will 'The Coverless Book' hold some clues (the last thing that her sister gave her)? Just when she's about to find out, she's kidnapped.

Review:
It is an intense read. A captivating narrative.

Written in the first person, and alternating each chapter between Jase and Beth's perspective; Willow Winters weaves an intriguing tale of danger, deception, and romance. Sinfully erotic romance.

I wanted to hate Jase, for the things he's doing, and for the things he's done, for the life he leads. But when there's deep regret on his part, it makes it hard to hate him. He's the sexiest anti-hero ever. He has his own demons, and a rather complicated past. He's a criminal, the worst of the worst.
She’s a mistake waiting to happen. A delicate disaster in the making.

Beth wants to find who killed Jenny, and so she clings to Jase who may be the only person with some answers. And inadvertently, they start falling for each other.
He may think he can use me, but I swear to everyone, living and dead, I’ll be the one using him.

There is something hypnotic about the author's writing. It just pulls you in. The dark places the main characters come from, and are a part of, moved me. Some parts even gave me the chills.
Don’t believe your heart; it lies to you too.

I love books within books. There is a different kind of magic in reading a book that is a part of a book, and yet isn't there in real life. The name is a mystery in itself: 'The Coverless Book'.
Books are a portal to another world, but they lead to other places too. To places deep inside you still filled with hope and a desperate need for love. Places where your loneliness doesn’t exist, because you know how it can be filled.

P.S. Most people say romances are generic, that they do not have anything new to add. But, when the author has such insight as Willow Winters has, you do get something extra from reading a book. Yes, a romance book.

Since this is my first W. Winters read, I'm letting it slide. Coz I loved it so! Loved her writing, her characters, their emotions, their feelings, their darkness; I loved it all. And so, I'm letting this go (a surprising CLIFFHANGER):
"Jase and Bethany’s book continues in … A Single Kiss." Grrr...
