Bish and Milo’s guide to getting direct donation ready
Bish and Milo’s guide to getting direct donation ready
Hi, it’s PetRescue CFO Michael Bishop and my adopted sidekick, Chief Furry Officer Milo, here!
Soon, PetRescue members will have a way to really make the most of the millions of pet-loving people visiting PetRescue.com.au each year, through direct donation functionality on pet listings. This is scheduled for launch in Spring 2018.
Most established rescue organisations will already have the following points covered. But, if you are still in the process of formalising your rescue operations, here’s what you’ll need to have ready when direct donations go live:
▢ Charity registration with the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission (ACNC).
▢ If you require an authority to fundraise, you'll need to provide the licence numbers for the relevant states or territories. Not sure if you need one? Check here.
▢ ABN/ACN - your unique 11-digit Australian Business Number (ABN) that identifies your business to the government and community.
▢ If you have DGR status, you’ll need to provide your DGR certification.
▢ Bank statement/letter from your bank verifying your bank details (bank name, BSB, account number) for donation payments.
Don’t have this documentation yet?
Fear not! If your rescue organisation is not yet registered with the ACNC, you’ve still got plenty of time to take the necessary steps.
The charity registration process may seem daunting, but it's an important step in building your organisation's trust and legitimacy in the eyes of the public. And it will pay off in so many ways, including opening up opportunities for fundraising and sponsorship - this is absolutely crucial if your organisation is to be sustainable.
