November 6, 2019

The Department of Agriculture and Technical Studies at Dickinson State University (DSU) will host the eighth annual Opportunities in Agriculture event Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 12 – 5 p.m. at the Biesiot Activities Center.

Keynote Speaker Chris Adams

Chris Adams, a 2019 Producer of the Year finalist, will give a keynote address at 2 p.m. Attendees will also have an opportunity to hear capstone presentations from senior agriculture students, visit graduate school booths, and participate in an agricultural job fair.

“We are excited this year to welcome Chris Adams, a fourth generation family farmer from Grand Forks,” Dr. Chip Poland, chair of the DSU Department of Agriculture and Technical Studies, shares. “Chris was a 2019 Producer of the Year Finalist and has expanded his family farm into the export market. We do our best to emphasize the importance of international exposure, and Chris will do a great job highlighting his personal experiences in succession planning and relating how he got into the export market with his farm.”

Some participating vendors include: American Bank Center, American Insurance, Billings County Weed Control Board, Butler Machinery Company, Gooseneck Implement, Helena Agri-Enterprises LLC, Plains Ag LLC – West Plains Inc., Roughrider Electric Cooperative, Western Cooperative Credit Union and more.

The event, designed to promote opportunities in agriculture research and facilitate networking for anyone interested in a career in agriculture, is free to attend and open to the public.
