Who hasn’t dreamed about our favorite books coming to life, the characters stepping right out of the pages? Artist Emma Taylor has taken that idea and run with it, making sculptures out of actual pages of books.
Inspired by nature, animals, and classic literature, her pieces leap out of real books, prancing across the sheets or nesting right in between, with the words still wrapped around their now-solid forms.
Taylor uses little more than glue, paper, and scissors (possibly some fairy dust, too) to make each magical creation. It’s unbelievable the amount of detail she is able to imbue in each one, down to even the individual segments on butterfly wings.
Any one of these sculptures would be an amazing centerpiece on your coffee table. Talk about a conversation starter! Or tuck it into your bookshelf, among all the other books, for someone to discover like hidden treasure.
You can buy greeting cards featuring some of the most popular sculptures, or you can commission a sculpture to be made. Each one takes about two to four weeks to complete. Taylor also posts sculptures for sale on her Etsy store.
These amazing sculptures really capture the wonder of books and how much they bring another world to life. And who couldn’t use a little more wonder in life?
