So, we have reached the end of the road.

Everything was getting darker and darker in the previous books and the last image was the crucifixion of Adam because his father and Prophet has had enough of him.

How do you fix this and have a happy ending?

I walk around the cross, as if playing a harmless game of “Ring Around the Rosey,” as I think about what he’s said. Do I feel threatened? No. Of course not. I laugh the thought away.

The book has multiple points of view. And the most disturbing one was Grace's POV.

Then there is
-Adam who is slowly and painfully dying, but still thinking of Delilah’ well-being
-Delilah who is still under training because Evan still wants to marry her – no mater that is damaged goods.
-Noah who finally is seeing the light and tries to help Adam and Delilah.

Around these 4 major characters, there is a variety of secondary characters who
fight,
resist,
believe,
deny,
refuse,
accept,
are tortured,
die and
survive.
There are people who are ready for extreme actions to demolish everything or they are ready to do whatever the Prophet commands.

Things will be very bad before they become good in a acceptable level. To be honest I did not feel that much relieved with this ending.
The darkness was still around.

★ 4 stars!!! ★

I need to take a deep breath, time to think and write a full review for this trilogy. Everything was so intense, disturbing and brutal, so many feelings... My thoughts and emotions are all over the place. I don’t remember hating so many characters in a book.
What a crazy journey was that?
I loved the author's writing and how she developed the personality of each character and the plot...
I was hooked from start to finish.
So intriguing, dark and twisted. This story definitely shocked me and surprised me at the same time, I didn’t expect to like it that much!

"The Prodigal has returned."

The Church is the explosive conclusion to The Cloister. The third and final book in The Cloister series offers action, suspense, passion, and romance. Adam and Delilah are fighting to be together and will do whatever it takes to escape the madness and chaos of The Cloister. With Adam's mother and father trying to corrupt Adam and keep him away from Delilah, the stakes are high for them to find each other and escape!

description
"He's the only one who can put me back together, can join our broken pieces and make us whole."
Told in multiple POV, The Church is a roller coaster of twists and turns. These characters have been through so much and with time running out, they are all desperate to survive. The tempo of the read is intense and life or death is on the line. I was quite satisfied that Adam and Delilah were able to find their way and learning more about Noah was a great addition to the plot. Like a blockbuster movie unfolding on the big screen, The Church is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!
"You're all I've ever needed."
Overall, Celia Aaron is one of my go-to authors and The Cloister will certainly appeal to readers who enjoy a dark romance full of suspense and action.

What a rollercoaster ride!

This book was jam packed with action and I loved that! I was biting my nails the whole time waiting for everything to go down. It kept my interest the whole time, so much so that I read this book in one sitting.

Finally the prophet and every evil person get what they deserve!

So happy that Adam and Delilah get to be together at last! Their love is so strong and pure. Love them so much!

I hope we get to see more of Noah in the future. He deserves to find happiness too.

This series was great! Its pretty disturbing but its written majestically. If you like dark reads you don’t want to miss this series!

I had so many thoughts and hopes and wants and dreams when I started this book. As the conclusion to the Cloister trilogy, I wondered how the author would wrap it up.

✣ If/when Adam would get down from the cross… He was the hero of the story so I assumed he would find his way off that thing. And then what would he do? Work with his mother? Create his own plan with Noah? Help Delilah? I didn’t really care what his plan was as long as he was victorious in the end. I loved Adam!!
✣ Would Delilah finally achieve vengeance for her sister, Georgia? Her attempts so far were lackluster and I’m still not sure why she had to go so far in order to do what she insisted on doing. However, I admired her conviction. Can’t fault her for that. Despite the odds not being in her favor, this young woman continued with her struggles to get to the truth. Through pain and tears and sorrow and loss, she didn’t give up and I respected that.
No more lambs to the slaughter, not if I can help it.

✣ Would Delilah have to marry the depraved senator? As sick as the man was, he might be her only chance to flee the cult.
✣ Can someone please kill Grace? How about the prophet?

The author gave me all that I was looking for and more. This was a complex tale that deserved a complex end and Celia Aaron delivered. The Church brought me back into the darkness of the Cloister and with its many moving parts, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next. It was full of surprises, betrayals, truths, and delusions. It ended up being a story of justice and redemption with an epic love woven throughout.
... a vow is created between us. A bond forged in pain and loss. A bond that cannot be broken.

The author’s prose was beautiful, the characters were incandescent, and the plot was not only dark, twisted and wicked, it was engaging, entertaining, and evocative.

This entire series was a haunting and emotional journey. It had moments of hopelessness and doubt. It generated feelings of vulnerability and self-awareness. It was also a startling and at times frightening glimpse of the lives of those who were victims and pawns of the one who manipulated many. They never stopped fighting and, best of all, they never stopped loving.

My reviews of the previous books:
The Maiden - Book 1
The Prophet - Book 2

I saw a movie once where a mummy would suck the souls of the people he killed until they dried up and blew away. The Prophet reminds me of that, the way he hungrily surveys the woman before him, as if he wants to steal every bit of youth and heart and soul from each of us.

‘THE CHURCH’ is the conclusion in C. Aaron's ‘The Cloister’ trilogy. It picks up where the second book left off.

Adam is right where the previous book left off, out in the elements, left to die, blood oozing from his many wounds, his only hope is that he can bargain with the devil in hopes of keeping Delilah safe. Things are slowly changing on the compound but will it be happen fast enough to save him from the clutches of his father, a man unhinged, a man to fear. Things are escalating.

Violence and terror go hand in hand..

Once upon a time, I had a sister.. As we’ve seen in the previous books Delilah has been out for vengeance since day one for the death of her sister, but now she’s after blood, still seeking answers wherever she can find them, whoever is brave enough to speak out.

As a whole this series sucked me in, it put me on a collision course of pure angst, a unique read,
un-put-downable as a whole, I devoured these books, the suspense was of nail biting proportions, a series I won't forget in a hurry. This series ticked all my boxes, everything I expect in a dark trilogy was answered, definitely a series I recommend..

With the final installment of the Cloister series, the timeline continues with Adam and Delilah plotting for their freedom. Though she remains true to her original vision of avenging her sister, Delilah’s plight becomes more complex as her feelings for others at the compound escalate. With the continued experience of the Prophet’s oppression, Adam is desperate to salvage what he can.

“Nothing here is under my control, and I’m at the mercy of the clock – always waiting for something to happen instead of making it happen myself.”

Told in multiple POVs, the plot is driven by action sequences carrying the characters to points of no return. Given the extreme measures, vying factions collide leading to collateral damage.

“I want him so badly, an I want the life described. The two of us, free from the Prophet’s web. But it can’t happen. We were doomed from the moment we saw each other.”

For me, these characters stayed on the surface and I was hoping for more development showing how scarred they are from the past and their current situation. As a result, I didn’t feel the connection I wanted. However, the overall storytelling is compelling and sets an eerie tone of manipulation.

The Church would appeal to those who want to be immersed in romantic suspense within a dark world.

Genre: Dark Romance
Type: Book 3 of 3 from The Cloister series
POV: First Person - Multiple
Rating:

Out of options, Delilah was at pivotal point of her survival. With Adam's life hung in a balance, she must reassess the best way to end it all without losing herself in the process.

I want him so badly, and I want the life I described. The two of us, free from the Prophet’s web. But it can’t happen. We were doomed from the moment we saw each other.

I'm glad that this book is the darkest and the most actions compared to previous books. I like how various characters stepped up as the situation turned dire. However, I wasn't fully convinced with some of them either because it was too late in the game with too sudden changes. There were also certain things and characters that I wanted to know more about.

I won’t fail her. Not anymore.

The Church is the conclusion of the three parts The Cloister series. The series would appeal to readers looking for dark romance in cult setting.

4,5 'All are punished' stars

When I came here, I wanted answers and vengeance. Now—after seeing what the Prophet is capable of—I’ve changed. How could I not? Violence and terror are harsh mistresses that mar everything they touch. Including me. I’m not after closure anymore. I’m after blood.

Can I say a big HELL YEAH!! In my review for book 1, I wrote about my fantasies about how I would like for this to end and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. In my opinion, some people deserved even more gruesome deaths for the crimes they committed. But still... justice was delivered, so I'm not complaining.

If only we would be able to see more of Adam and Emily together, I'd give this a full five stars. I get that because of the plot that wasn't possible but I so desperately wanted to see them happy together. Also, one big applause for Noah who finally mans up and shows he has balls of steel too. I'm really proud of you, my man! And brother bonding was so adorable. I think that Adam became a secret cat person.

Ok, I will stop rambling now. Just a few beautiful quotes for the end.

“I want to please you, little lamb. To show you I’m worthy.”

***********************************
He’s the only one who can put me back together, can join our broken pieces and make us whole.

***********************************
“It’s just you and me. No one but us. The door behind me? You can open it and leave whenever you want. You are free.” He strokes my cheek. “Though I can’t promise I won’t follow. You may not have noticed, but I can’t be without you. I love you.”

A perfect ending.

This is the perfect ending to The Cloister trilogy. I can safely say that Emily/Adam/Noah and the Maidens go out with a bang, a flame, and lots of blood. Although I thought I KNEW what would happen going into book three... I ended up being dead wrong. The book is full of left turns, that you won’t really see coming. Nothing is easy in Heavenly. My only complaint is that it’s over!

This series. *sigh* This series.

Do you want a series so riveting you'll lock yourself in your room just to get a few minutes of peaceful reading time? A series so edge-of-your-seat that if it weren't for Alexa's ability to order pizza, your family would go hungry until you finished? Well, this is the series.

And, yes, I really did those things.

Each book in this series was more suspenseful than the last. The Prophet left me on tenterhooks; I was both desperate to know how it would end and sad that this would be the last book in the series. If most books are roller coasters, The Church is a bullet ride. By about 70-80% It. Was. All. Happening. And I needed a breath before I had a heart attack.

From beginning to end, dynamic characters are on full display in this book, especially with Noah and Adam. The changes in them affect the tone of their POV, giving this book a different feel than the previous installments and making it a counterpoint to the heavy, dark nature of the book.

I hope you paid close attention in the previous installments because seeds planted there come full circle. The resolution to the plot is like lightning, electric but quick. Everything happens at once. The answers to questions I had from the previous installments are ones I never saw coming. Which made me giddy. Unpredictability is everything. How it all ends, unfortunately, required a level of suspension of disbelief that was too high for me. Really, it's one of my only drawbacks with this book. A minor one.

Series' like this don't come along every day. Maybe Celia Aaron will decide to do a series about Zion or Noah so we can go on a ride like this again. I know my family would love another unannounced pizza night.

Someone pass me the painkillers please - I've got a massive book hangover after reading this

Action, violence, lies, plots, terror, threats, secrets, murder, mayhem. I don't know how Celia Aaron packed so much into this last book but every page held something that either battered your heart or lifted your soul. It's one of those books that is so amazing you can't ever do it justice in a review and you struggle for what to say without giving away spoilers.

I read The Maiden and whilst I liked it, I was left with too many questions. I read The Prophet and most of these questions were answered, along with other questions I didn't even realise I had. Reading The Prophet then made me reassess my evaluation of The Maiden , the two books together moved up to a rating of 'really good'. You need to read BOTH of these books in order to read The Church , which is one of the most amazing reads EVER. There is just so much that happens in this book and all of it unpredictable and just, **wow**.

We left Adam strung up on (and nailed to) a cross. We left Delilah burning with a need for vengeance. We left Heavenly Ministries desperate to know how the story would not only continue but be resolved. Who are the good guys, who are the bad guys, who is just downright crazy cakes? You will NOT be disappointed at all, so many twists, so many surprises, so many shocks. Even though we'd thrown wild guesses and I-really-hope-that's out there, we were only a smidge close on most things and nowhere near on others. You will also be left with one very nicely bated loose end with a character that was a hot topic of conversation over in the Dark Erotica readers group. I can't wait for that story!

I didn't think I could love Adam or Emily (Delilah) more but I was wrong. I wasn't sure about Noah or Grace, I almost forgave one of them for their errors until they twisted the knife and revealed what a truly soulless monster they were. Emily's mum - THAT came out of left field and what a truly unexpected shocker. Chastity and Jez, broken so much more than we ever imagined. Friends, allies and supposed allies in places you would never imagine. Enemies closer than you ever thought.

If there is a series of books that should be top of your "must read" list this year, then this is it. It's dark, it's painful, it's twisted beyond belief and quite simply one of the best books I've read this year.

Celia Aaron, GIVE US MORE. This can't be the end! I've become so attached to Delilah, Adam, and Noah, especially with The Church finally giving us the battle we've been waiting for. The Church is the third and final novel in The Cloister series, it's an us against them scenario, with them being The Prophet and his band of merry followers. We've shifted from just Delilah and Adam's perspective and now we have Grace and Noah's as well, giving us a complete understanding of how invested some were and how interested in the downfall of the church others were.

"I don't want to hurt her anymore. I want to set her free."

I have liked Delilah from the very beginning, but I love her thirst for vengeance in The Church. She's come back with renewed vigor and a desire to finally inflict pain back at those who stole her sister from her. Though it's a different type of darkness, The Church is darker in a way that leaves us out of the loop. We aren't sure of what's to come, who is to survive, and just how crazed the followers are. I wish we'd seen more of The Prophets rambling and more of the Maidens planning, the uprising was a little lackluster for me. It's redeemed, quite a bit, with Rachel and her very crazy ways. Never saw that coming, really would like more background on how she became swept up in her beliefs. Like The Prophet did to her followers, each and every character engages in some level of manipulation to work things out how they want to. I appreciated that there were so different plans in place by the various parties trying to escape the horrors. The Church is the final coffin nail on The Cloister and its terrifying cult leader.

"His little lamb. I will gladly sacrifice myself to save him, to give him a future, and to watch Heavenly burn."

For those looking for a dark cult fiction with a bit of romance, Celia Aaron has you covered with The Cloister series. It's got all the depravity your heart could desire.

5 "So Many Plots & Plans" Stars

Just a Heads Up... Once this book starts... Holy Shit...

For those of ya'll that haven't been paying attention... I FLOVE this series & Def didn't want it to end! Now it may just be me, but this book felt as if it had a different flow or "voice" to it. That was the only reason I almost knocked a 1/2* off. Truthfully I added it back & then some just for Noah's character. What a Friggin Surprise he turned out to be! I Loved Him in this book! That little change in his character in this book was utter brilliance as there was so much suspense & Dark acts it it was needed to break it all up as to not overwhelm. We Needed that Freshness, otherwise it would have been too much going on.

The Suspense was on 💯& towards the end, you do have to suspend belief. But honestly, by that point it was so good, who cares! So Many Plots & Plans... You didn't know who was on whose Team... Whose Plan was whose... Or Who would Bring Down the House... Or who would Cock the whole damn thing up! Don't worry all those Cliffy-Haters out there, you get a HEA. A Great HEA that is the BEST HEA EVA!

Oh & @ the Real End... About that last thread that Cecilia admits needing to wrap up...

Fuck. YES!!

3.5 "Light it up, Firefly" stars!

I hate to say this, but the finale of this very promising trilogy fell flat for me. It could've been a case of too-high expectations, but I thought the first two books were excellent. They led towards an explosive finale that never really happened.

Parts of it were very satisfying, to say the least. However, certain characters didn't pan out the way I imagined, and some of the twists didn't really make sense. I can handle books that are far-fetched, especially for an ending I want, but a lot of things just didn't work for me. I thought certain characters that had a lot of promise were abandoned, and others that had barely been mentioned up to that point were all of a sudden extremely important. It just didn't click for me. Am I salty that one of my theories didn't pan out? Maybe, but I still think it would've been better than what actually happened!

That being said, the first two books were excellent, and I didn't exactly hate this one... I just didn't love it, either. Celia Aaron has quite a talent for building characters, and since she took on a controversial subject, I have nothing but respect and admiration for what she did in this trilogy. It's just that for me, personally, I was hoping for more depth instead of just wild twists grabbed from thin air purely for the shock factor.

I did love that justice was served, and I loved HOW it was served.

Recensione sulla mia pagina Bookstagram
https://www.instagram.com/p/CNxJ2ThHa...

Me inclusa.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Church is the last book in The Cloister series. It made my bloodthirsty heart shed tears of joy. While I found it satisfying and a fitting end for the most part, it left me a bit dissatisfied because of a loose thread. I don't want to say much about it because I don't want to spoil the experience for others but I wish it had been tied up. However, it's still a solid read that I recommend to all.

The Church by Celia Aaron is the absolute best ending to the Cloister series. I was consumed and devoured every word. I was instantly thrown back into Delilah's turmoil. I felt her pain, her anger, and her love for Adam. It was a whirlwind of a roller coaster and the emotions I went through are still radiating from me. I'm still processing and I can't brag enough on what an amazing book this is. Everyone is going to be blown away.

Delilah and Adam have a huge fight ahead of them in this book. I was so broken because of the pain Adam was enduring, it killed me. I just kept holding out hope that he'd be okay and him and Delilah would get their revenge and change things for the better. Every character in the series will surprise you in this book. I couldn't believe what I was reading at times, but I was so proud of all of them for being brave and overcoming the Cloister. I also fell completely in love with Noah in this book. I was so impressed with him and couldn't help but adore him in the end. I so hope that Celia will give us a book or even a whole series for Noah, he was phenomenal. So get ready for one intense, dark, earth shattering ending that will leave you in awe.

I give The Church by Celia Aaron 5 out of 5 I BELIEVE STARS!

5"HELL YEH" stars*****

the Cloister trilogy just has me like
description

Like literally, have you ever read a book and felt like you owe the author more than the $3.99 you paid for the book? i feel like i owe Celia Aaron a Macallan 18, a bottle of Bells and a whole dish of charcoal
braai-style cow intestines wrapped up in tripe (yeh, cause where i'm from that's a delicacy only served to chiefs and royalty)...
description

i have never read acknowledgements in any book, but yeh, with The Church, i found myself reading even the fine print for some reason...
description

there was just the issue of Zion being and FBI agent which had me a bit like:
description

Zion doing all that nasty abusive shit whilst being "undercover" and still seeming to enjoy it (as Noah pointed out) perplexed me. he was undercover for several years, so my question is, did he need to be in there for several years when the evidence was so damning and in your face? that shit needed ONE DAY and certainly not years.. the whole legal setting and bargaining for Noah and Adam was a bit 'meh' in the reality department, but as i mentioned in my review for book 1, "logic", when a book is this good, means absolutely nothing to me...

So what did i love:
1THE WOMEN: this final installment of The Cloister was really centered on the women. the first 2 books had women taking a back seat and really playing victim to a cult run by misogynistic men. but the final book, the ladies come in swinging.
i) Jez and Chastity these ladies had already concocted a plan to destroy Heavenly in its entirety. that place was going to CRUSH AND BURN baby, and i was all for that idea. even the stupid followers where going to become casualties..sad, but all is fair in war right?
ii) Delilah/Emily she made a difficult choice which was to go marry Evan and suffer through it just to bring Heavenly down. she was ready to play the role as a means to an end. a difficult role, but she would play it to succeed.
iii) Rachel even the villain was played by a female. Rachel was a puppet master to Grace and even concocted a plan to bring down Heavenly! one thing was for sure, the prophet was going down and the only question was which WOMAN would be responsible for his down fall...?
iv)Jez and the other ladies of the Cloister YES, the finale! the torturing of the prophet was so GRAND... the women finally had their revenge.. and all i can say is, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

Gah!! I swear Celia Aaron is one of my Queens of the Dark and Depraved because there wasn't a time I sat reading The Church where I wasn't either shocked, consumed, addicted and absolutely glued to my seat obsessed with finishing this story. The Church was absolutely fantastic. I loved the conclusion to Delilah and Adam's story and could not get enough of this series!!

Going into this series and after having read the first two books I knew that this author would blow my mind in the final book but I honestly was not expecting how shocking The Church would be. All the revelations and secrets would not stop coming!! GAHH!! THIS BOOK WAS MINDBLOWING!! Without revealing any spoilers, The Church follows the shocking ending to The Prophet where Adam was now at the mercy off The Prophet. But would Delilah be able to rescue the man she loved while exposing the truths she needed?

Good Lord, people!! This series was legit phenomenal. It was sexy, suspenseful, and so shocking. It had everything I love in a dark story and more. I loved how the author was able to tie everything together and still blow my mind at the end. Furthermore, I loved that despite it being dark and disturbing we were still able to see the true love and connection between Adam and Delilah. Everyone seriously needs to read this book and this series as a whole because it can't be topped! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula
