This 8-year-old dancer unexpectedly lost her leg, but she didn’t let it keep her from follower her dreams.

Tessa Puma ate, slept, and dreamt dance, until she started feeling sick in 2017.

What her family thought was the flu turned out to be a rare strep throat infection that spread to her bloodstream, leaving Tessa with a 20% chance of survival.

She spent two months in the hospital and had to have her leg amputated above the knee.

While her parents were hoping she would one day walk again, Tessa had bigger plans.

With a lot of determination and the help of a prosthetic leg, Tessa made it back to the dance studio and even dances in competitions today.

When she’s older? She hopes to become a dance teacher herself.
