Albertus Magnus President Dr. Marc M. Camille to cut ribbon alongside solar project partners

What:

Albertus Magnus College to host a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the construction of a 770-kW carport photovoltaic solar power system located on parking lots throughout the campus. The solar power system is expected to offset approximately 29 percent of Albertus Magnus’ annual electricity consumption.

Joining Albertus Magnus President Dr. Marc M. Camille during the ceremony will be the solar project partners, Green Street Power Partners, LLC (GSPP), Shawmut, Swinerton Renewable Energy (SRE), and The United Illuminating Company, a subsidiary of AVANGRID Inc. (NYSE: AGR).

Fun Fact: Patron of Albertus Magnus College, St. Albert the Great, would have been supportive of the solar project. St. Albert the Great was born about 1200 into the family of the counts of Bollstadt at Lauingen in Swabia. According to a contemporary, Albert was a man “so superior in every science that he can fittingly be called the wonder and miracle of our time.” His encyclopedic writings include works on physics, geography, astronomy, chemistry, biology, philosophy and theology.
