Other Site Characteristics
The reserve includes an eutrophic waterbody of the Servech Lake, the Servech River and the area of raised, transition and lowland bogs. Sedge and sedge-and-moss swamps are most common. Raised terrain sections are occupied by mixed grass meadows. Forest grow by small fragmented patches with the prevalence of small-leaved plantings. The meadows are used for grazing and haying. |
4.2 Quality and importance
All habitats are characterized by a high degree of preservation, as work associated with changes in environmental conditions (hydrotechnical amelioration, extraction of peat and other minerals, clear forest felling, erection of business facilities) in the reserve is prohibited. The reserve is situated away from cities, highways and industrial facilities. The largest part of the area is hardly available. The goal of the establishment of the reserve is conservation of the ecosystems of the Servech Lake, the Servech River, the set of mesotrophic and lowland swamps, as well as for the area hydrological regime stabilizing. |
