With a varied career over both the creative industries and social entrepreneurship, Rachael brings a unique mix of holistic integrity and straight-talking business credibility to this Startup Grind virtual event.

Rachael's experience and knowledge are truly beyond question, and her passion for business and cultural, creative arts is infectious. Rachael will share her experiences of navigating current developments from a leadership perspective, how entrepreneurs and creatives can support each other in this time, thoughts on resilience and what opportunities there are for positive societal outcomes from our current situation.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Rachael joined Made Brave Founder/CEO Andrew Dobbie in the COVID-19 Creative Industries Support Group to provide a support network and resources for creative entrepreneurs, freelancers and solo traders.

Rachael is currently Chief Executive at the Future Economy Company (FEC), who’s vision is to achieve a future where the makers, doers, thinkers, creatives, innovators and social impact creators within Scotland have access to the best support, networks, skills and knowledge to enable them to flourish, thereby helping to transform employment, communities and the economy.

Within the FEC runs the Creative Entrepreneurs’ Club, a member-driven community, designed to help creative people grow their businesses. Shel is also the Social Entrepreneur in Residence with Social Investment Scotland and Board Director with Social Enterprise Scotland.

She previously spent over a decade at Impact Arts and has worked on joint ventures with the Scottish Government and leading agencies including Creative Scotland and Scottish Enterprise. Rachael also completed Entrepreneurial Scotland’s Saltire Fellowship programme in 2015.
