Estoy traduciendo un poder notarial de España y, al final de todo, aparece lo siguiente:

"Bases de cálculo: Sin cuantía
Arancel aplicable: 1, 4 nª8
Derechos arancelarios - "

Tenía entendido que un documento sin cuantía implicaba un arancel fijo, pero al ver que en este caso se aplican unos aranceles, se ha venido mi teoría abajo.

I looked at this question, to which Taña has kindly posted a link as a reference, some time ago after doing some research on it, and wrote down my findings as a belated entry.
However, since someone else has now posted the answer here that I considered to be unsuitable, I'll post my entry again here and let others decide.

The term is used on notarial documents where the transaction involved is not "for consideration" per se, e.g. poderes, actas, testamentos, capitulaciones matrimoniales, estado civil, emancipación, reconocimiento de filiación, etc., so the fee to be charged cannot be calculated based on any transaction value contained in the document and therefore the notary will charge a flat fee based on a table something like the one cited below, but the words "sin cuantía" have nothing to do with the fee itself, and translating it as "flat fee" or words to that effect is clearly wrong.

1. Por los instrumentos públicos sin cuantía se percibirán las siguientes cantidades:
Poderes en general: 30,050605 €.
Poderes para pleitos: 15,025302 €.
Actas: 36,060726 €.
Testamentos, por otorgante: 30,050605 €.
Capitulaciones matrimoniales: 30,050605 €.
Demás documentos (estado civil, emancipación, reconocimiento de filiación, etc.): 30,050605 €.
2. En los poderes, si hubiere más de dos poderantes, se percibirán 6,010121 € por cada uno de exceso, y por cada apoderado que exceda de seis, 0,601012 €.

Explanation:
DOCUMENTO SIN CUANTÍA.” Means that the fee (“arancel“) is a fixed fee (as set out in the Spanish Regulation on Notaries) and it is not based on “la cuantía del documento” (the sum of the inheritance, sale, etc.). This is not a sliding-scale fee. The statutory fees that may be charged are numbered: 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., and there is a description of each type of “arancel” and what it consists of in the Regulation."
