Outside Lands Music Festival Announces ‘Grass Lands’ Curated Cannabis Experience

This year, San Francisco's Outside Lands will present Grass Lands, "a new area focused on the celebration, education, and integration of cannabis products into daily life."

San Francisco’s Outside Lands music festival will add a new experience to its lineup this year — getting high. Or learning about it, at least. While cannibis at music festivals is no new concept, with recreational marijuana now legal in California, this year the Bay Area event is looking to make the relationship official and provide festivalgoers some education on the subject as well.

Taking place Aug. 10-12, alongside featured performances from The Weeknd, Future, Beck, Portugal. The Man, Florence + The Machine, DJ Snake and more, the festival will present Grass Lands, described in announcement as “a new area focused on the celebration, education, and integration of cannabis products into daily life.”

The experiential addition will join the Wine Lands, Beer Lands, Cocktail Magic and a massive lineup of gourmet food stands. It will be the first time a major American music festival includes a cannabis experience.

Grass Lands will provide educational sessions, explore different uses of cannabis and showcase leading companies in the cannabis and technology industries. While products will not be available to purchase on the festival grounds, a delivery service booth will be available to order a wealth of products offsite.

Additionally, a greenhouse with cannabis product specialists called “budtenders” will offer a lemonade stand, flower crown shop, cannabis-themed farmers market and an interactive smell wall with botanical terpenes.

Outside Lands Co-Producer Rick Farman said in a statement that the unique experience celebrates Northern California culture and sheds light on the region’s importance as pioneers in the cannabis world. “With recreational marijuana now legal in California, there is so much to discover,” he added.
