Bellevue donates £10,000 to food poverty initiative

News

Bellevue Education has made a donation of £10,000 and offered the support of its school kitchens to Feeding Communities, a charitable initiative set up by catering company, Thomas Franks.

Feeding Communities was created in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020, with the mission to provide healthy, nutritious meals to vulnerable children and adults across the UK and Europe. So far, the initiative has prepared and delivered over 300,000 meals, donated to charities across the country.

Thomas Franks caters in several Bellevue Education schools including Sherfield School, Hook; The Oratory Preparatory School, Reading; and The Hampshire School, Chelsea. Their kitchens will now be used outside of school catering hours to support the Feeding Communities initiative, with Thomas Franks caterers preparing hot meals for those suffering food poverty in their local communities.

In addition, Bellevue has offered a donation of £10,000 to support the initiative.

Mark Malley, founder and CEO of Bellevue Education, adds: ‘We are delighted to be supporting Feeding Communities. This is an excellent initiative which enables us to give something back to the communities Thomas Franks is working so tirelessly to support.’

Thomas Franks has also launched an initiative in its schools called Beyond Education – Being Human, which teaches pupils vital cookery skills. The meals they produce in the lessons are packaged, labelled, and sent out to those in need in the schools’ community.

Frank Bothwell, founder of Thomas Franks, comments: ‘The donation received by Bellevue will feed 5000 children and families in food poverty. This generous gift will give hope to those that have little or nothing. We are proud to stand with them as we alleviate food poverty in the UK.’
