I’ve just recently returned from the Royal Flying Doctor Outback Car Trek. The Outback Car Trek is an annual event that donates the funds it raises each year to The Royal Flying Doctor Service. It’s great fun and for Just Cuts it holds a special place in our community’s hearts as we host the annual kickoff event each year… Cut-aRama. Cut-a-Rama is held the night before the official trek commences. In 2018, seven Just Cuts Stylists from all over Australia and New Zealand helped the Outback Car Trek drivers create wild hair styles and colours to sport during their week-long trek. Thousands of dollars were donated by trekkers to see their friends’ heads shaved, clipped, cut and coloured for the cause. The event was held in Tamworth, NSW (aka the country music capital of Australia)! This was the 20th Cut-a-Rama event hosted by Just Cuts. We’re so proud to be able to support a charity that impacts the lives of so many people across Australia and we’re delighted to share that thanks to the crowds that packed the Tamworth Hotel for the event, we raised $17,562 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. Thank you and well done to everyone involved! Cut-A-Rama is just one small part of Just Cuts ongoing commitment to the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. Every Just Cuts salon in Australia receives a donation box for the charity, which is displayed on reception counters all year round, with Clients, Team Members and Owners alike donating their loose change to the cause. And since first partnering with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in 1998, Just Cuts has raised over $450,000 for the charity through the annual Cut-a-Rama event, our salon donation boxes and a number of other fundraising initiatives. JUST CUTS RAISES $17,562 FOR THE ROYAL FLYING DOCTOR SERVICE OF AUSTRALIA kers and the Tamworth The Just Cuts Team, Outback Car Trek annual Cut-a-Rama event community rally to raise money at the Cut-a-Rama went off with a bang on Saturday June 2nd, with hundreds of people packing the local Tamworth Hotel to raise money for a great cause. This year, we raised an amazing $17,562 in just over three hours! Cut-a-Rama is the kick-off event to the Royal Flying Doctor Outback Car Trek, held the night before the charity trek commences. Six Just Cuts Stylists and a Franchise Owner from Just Cuts Rockdale Plaza in Sydney travelled from all over Australia and New Zealand to help create
wild hair styles and colours for the drivers to sport during their trek. Thousands of dollars were donated by trekkers and Tamworth locals to see their friends’ heads shaved, clipped and hair coloured for the cause. Thank you to our amazing Cutting Crew and everyone who helped make the night a huge success! A big shout out to our amazing Just Cuts Academy Training and Operations Co-ordinator Claire Lavelle for organising the entire event.

2. TREATMENTS ARE A MUST!

Natural elements such as wind, sun and water combined with the extremes of each season change the needs of everyone’s hair. For blondes, this is even more crucial. Protein is essential to build strength as bleach, tints and sun can weaken blonde hair and make it dull. SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER & TREATMENTS THE ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION Good hair health starts at your scalp so it’s essential to get your hair care regime on point. We often compare step one of healthy hair to cleansing, toning and moisturising the skin on your face. If you have a build of dirt, oil and the wrong products; the appearance and feeling of your skin suffers. The same goes for your hair. By understanding why shampoo, conditioner and treatments are important and how they work together you’ll notice the difference the right choices make to the overall look and health of your hair. Shampoo removes build-up of dirt, styling products and environmental debris from your hair. It does this by opening your hair cuticle to allow deep cleansing. How often you need to shampoo your hair and the shampoo type you should select depends on a number of factors including the condition of your scalp, how your treat your hair (think colour and heat styling) and the texture of your hair. As a general guide, fine, straight hair is oilier than thick or curly hair which are more prone to dryness. TIP: We recommend shampooing your hair twice on the days you shampoo. So where does conditioner fit in? Using conditioner after you shampoo seals your hair back up - locking in nutrients and making your hair look shiny and smooth again. Conditioner benefits both the appearance and health of your hair. Smoother hair strands help prevent static and split-ends, making your hair easier to style. As conditioner seals your hair cuticle

the nutrients are locked in and the nasties are locked out, strengthening your hair shaft and preventing breakage. This is the only in-salon position at Just Cuts that doesn’t require you to be a fully qualified Stylist. The position of Salon Coordinator enables the salon to run smoothly and efficiently. The Salon Coordinator is usually the first point of contact for Clients and must be able to make Clients feel welcome and comfortable. It’s a great opportunity to work in a salon environment on a part-time or casual basis on weekends and during busy seasonal periods such as school holidays and Christmas.
Calling all qualified hairdressers. As the largest hairdressing network in the Southern Hemisphere Just Cuts salons often have positions available for experienced, fully qualified Senior Stylists. Stylists must have achieved and hold a hairdressing credited certificate to state they are confident and competent in all aspects of hairdressing. Any person in this position must have a calm, tactful, helpful and friendly disposition. They must enjoy and be capable of working fairly in a Team environment.

TEAM LEADER 2IC The role of a 2IC is to assist the Team Leader. The 2IC is a working fully qualified Stylist position. In the absence of the Team Leader, the 2IC performs all of the roles of the Team Leader and is responsible for the salon. 2IC’s can go on to become Team Leaders.

OPERATIONS MANAGER
The Team Leader supervises the Team and assists the Franchise Owner in running an efficient and effective business. The Team Leader is a qualified senior Stylist and part of the Team Leader’s role can be that of a Stylist or Salon Coordinator. This is a leadership role requiring that you are fair, respected by the Team and able to create a comfortable environment for the Team and Clients alike.
The Operations Manager’s role is the same as the Team Leader’s but with the added responsibility of more than one salon. This position is often available with Just Cuts Franchise Owners who own more than one salon. In most cases the Team Leaders from the Franchise Owner’s individual salons will report to the Operations Manager, and the Operations Manager will report to the Franchise Owner.
FRANCHISE OWNER Turn your dreams into reality. As a Franchise Owner, you’ll enjoy the ease of the Just Cuts business model, which has already been set up for you with operational, ordering and marketing systems all built into it. The model has also been fully digitalised with a range of support available online, including an e-learning platform, print marketing ordering system, retail reward program and Point of Service tools. You don’t have to be a hairdresser to own a Just Cuts. You will have all the support you need to recruit Team Leaders and Stylists to service your business. All you need are people skills and a passion to succeed! Setup costs will vary depending on salon size and location. Typically, it can cost between $85,000 and $260,000 for a fully operational salon.
As Operations Managers are responsible for more than one salon, their role is an overseeing one, where they work on the total business not necessarily at a salon level. Operations Managers meet regularly with their Team Leaders and tend to be the ears and eyes of the Franchise Owner. They travel from salon to salon recruiting, training and monitoring salon standards and Team performance.
