WE are becoming a nation obsessed with protein. Around half of us are looking to add extra protein to our diets. The average sedentary man should get 56g a day while a woman needs 46g. The market is flooded with protein products. Some are good, some not so good.
Today we have featured three that have impressed us and also tested leading eye creams.
Health with Jane Atkinson
GRENADE – Its protein bars are a firm favourite and now they’ve brought out summer-inspired drink Strawberries And Cream, ready-prepared in a bottle.
It’s 195kcal and a huge 25g of protein per 330ml bottle. Plus it is low in sugars and fat.
This tasted really creamy.
Great if you are on the go or after a big workout. £2.50 per 330ml, grenade.com.
JAC’S KITCHEN – Most protein products have the unmistakable taste of the nutrient, but this new porridge from Jacqueline Whiteheart does not.
It’s a mix of oats, a slow-release milk protein called casein, whey protein and inulin fibre. 200cals per portion and 20g protein.
Add hot water and you’ve got the perfect breakfast.
Would definitely buy again. £5 for two-day trial or £49 for 28 porridge pouches. See jacskitchen.co.uk.
VIVE NATURAL PROTEIN – The British firm’s Protein snack bars taste like chocolate.
The three flavours are vegan and contain 10g of plant protein. They’ve been dubbed “vegan Snickers bars” and taste amazing.
I tried the Peanut Butter – dark choc, dates and rice protein.
215kcal per bar and 20g of protein. £1.99 per 49g bar. See eatvive.com.

BUDGET - Nacomi Argan Oil Eye Cream, (£13.99, 15ml – mybeautybar.co.uk)
A fragrance-free product infused with natural ingredients.
Argan and grape seed oils nourish the skin deeply while shea butter, coconut oil and vitamin E are rich in antioxidants to tackle fine lines.
This had the thickest texture of the three so felt super hydrating when applied to plump the hollow under-eye area.
MID: Ishga Rejuvenating Eye Balm (£47, 30ml – uk.ishga.com):
Formulated with 90 per cent organic ingredients, it promises to hydrate, firm and tone the eye area.
Nourishing shea butter is layered with vitamins A and E to halt wrinkles as well as Vitamin F, rich in fatty acids, to plump cells.
Argan oil boost elasticity and improve firmness. My skin appeared instantly firmer.

LUXURY: Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Creme (£30, 15ml – boots.com):
Lightweight, multi-use cream to instantly brighten eyes, target fine lines and provide a make-up base.
Collagen deeply hydrates as well and vitamin C fights ageing. Fragrance of orange and green tea extracts come through.
Expensive for only 15ml but my favourite.
