LISBETH RITTENHOUSE keeps her head down and works hard—she has goals, and nothing is going to stop her from achieving them—especially not a sexy Irishman. Because she knows that relationships only lead to trouble, and she’s had enough of that to last a lifetime.

AIDAN KEARNEY lands in the small town of Beekman Hills, New York desperate to outrun the grief of losing his brother. Hoping to find serenity, he spends his days slinging drinks in a small pub instead of behind his camera capturing the beauty he saw before his brother’s death.

It's not peace he finds when a gorgeous redhead, whose baggage rivals his own, tumbles into his life.

One look.
One taste.
One distraction.
Aidan is hooked…

But when things get tough, will they let their past insecurities win?
Or will they beat the odds, and fight for what they both want?

A CHANCE AT TRUE HAPPINESS

“Blood may be thicker than water, but love is thicker than anything.” <<-- LOVE THIS!

Lis has had it rough. She's been dealt a shitty lot in life, hurt by those who were supposed to love and protect her. I attached to her immediately and wanted to adopt her into my own family. What Lis lacks in familial ties, is fulfilled by friends who've taken her into their hearts and lives. There are no shortage of people looking out for her.

When Aiden, the swoony Irishman comes along, it's no wonder he too is bewitched by Miss Lis. He is delicious! That accent. Good lord. Panty melting.

With a great cast of secondary characters and impeccable writing, Mrs. Enders' debut novel will leave you aching for more. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

This book began with so much promise. I liked the characters, the writing style was to my liking & I could see some complications developing to ensure an interesting storyline. For the most part all was moving along nicely & I was enjoying this.
Lisbeth (Lis) has separated herself from her family; a sister (Maryse) who stole her boyfriend & a mother who has always sided with said sister. Living with her roommate & best friend Gracyn, & having support from friends at a nearby pub, Lis has a new family with people that love & respect her, look out for her & will not betray her. With this group she has everything that a family should be. With no financial support, Lis is studying to become a nurse, works as a server in a restaurant & also trains at a nearby hospital. She is hard working, determined & structured & will not allow anything to hinder her goals.
Aiden, recently moved to the states from Ireland after the sudden passing of his brother, bartends at the pub that Lis frequents. After the disaster with her last boyfriend, Lis isn't interested in romance or any other distraction. Her goals are set. Aiden has other ideas though & is willing to risk everything to get to know this young woman, a woman he can't stop thinking about.
Aiden, photographer by profession, works in the pub as a means to get settled in this new country.
He is also hard working, taking any shift offered, is kind, thoughtful & treats Lis unlike anyone has treated her in the past. He adores her, wants intimacy but only when she's ready as he understands her past & how she still struggles with the betrayal.
I liked the secondary characters & I could see that one in particular was going to become a problem. Her part in the story was brief, effective & predictable, but as I said, I saw this coming.
Lis was likable but towards the end was getting on my nerves. Yes betrayal hurts, but don't assume that every guy is like the last one. Miss doom & gloom nearly ruined everything by not asking questions, reading texts or answering phone calls. Finally she snapped out of this man-loathing state & decided to get answers. It was the best thing she could have done for herself. This is a stand-alone with other books in the series that expand with some secondary characters. Mostly an enjoyable read with a HEA.

I enjoyed this one. It got tome emotionally. I really felt for Lisbeth. Life has knocked her down so many times, but she gets back up. She deserves a HEA. Aidan is a yummy Irishman who is great hero material. What won me over right away is the way he treats Lisbeth. I was rooting for these two right away. Though their journey is going to be bumpy the destination is worth it.

Sweet and all kinds of cute. I enjoyed reading this. Even with the predictable drama. I would have rated it night had their been more of a HEA and epilogue no needed more than just they ended up together. I want to know what their lie is like years later.

First of all, WHOA! This book is KC Enders debut release and is nothing short of amazing!

You first meet Lis when she enters her good friend's Irish pub. There is a new guy working and she is drawn to him immediately. You see, Lis has a broken heart and a wall she has built around herself due to a broken heart. When the new guy, Aiden swoops in for the first time, you notice that the wall begins to crack.

Aiden is in town from Ireland and he notices Lis and instantly wants to get to know more about her. Aiden is so caring and just down right swoony. He too is also dealing with his own issues. The loss of his brother and comes to America to escape the pain that lies within him and his family. Meeting Lis starts to heal his soul. But Aiden has to work hard to gain her trust and still deal with the loss and turmoil back home.

When things start going amazing in his and Lis' life, of course life throws a curve ball. His brother's widow comes to the States and begs Aiden to come back to Ireland.

Lis finds herself in love but also hurt from all the information that has come her way regarding Aiden and their relationship.

This story is an amazing love story of strength, honesty and wonderful chemistry.

"Blood may be thicker than water, but love is thicker than anything."

Congrats to you KC on a terrific debut novel and leaving us all wanting more!

This story is a MUST READ and hopefully we will see more beautiful writing from KC! So, get on it girl!!

What a premier this book was... Jeez... It nailed it. KC Enders is the repossible and worthy of this compliment because her debut album is amazing. She's a new author to me and to several readers and we all have the same opinion. She is fantastic and this book showed just that. Her writing is simple, intense and hot when it needs to be.
Troubles is the book you must read and tells the stories of Lis and Aiden.
Lis is a sweet girl determined to succeed I life no matter what graduating and becoming a nurse. She had her heart broken into little pieces and because of that she can't trust so she grew up a wall to protect herself. When she enters her good friend's Irish Pub she can't imagine what's about to happen.
Aiden his sexy, caring, sweet and has a heart bigger than the world but now he's trying to heal. He had lost his brother and that is something hard to overcome. It was a terrible blow and he needed to get away. He needed to leave Irland behind and seek closure in America. One night he sees the beautiful Lis entering the Pub he works and he wants to know her.
When they start to get close hings will happen that will shake it up.
And I'm done talking. Read for yourself and write your review.
Jesus what a book. Gimme more because I want more.
The plot is amazing and perfect, very well written with everything in place to hook me up from the beginning. The interation between the characters is beautiful, sweet and so real that made want to hold them.
This book will present you with love, desire, friendship, heartache as well as loss, betrayal and angst.
Everything happened in a way that left me sad, happy, angry but overall all worth it. I would read it again and again.
Thank you KC Enders for this amazing story and I need more OK? When can we get more?

I just finished this amazing debut novel by KC Enders. I felt all the things and highly enjoyed his beautiful story with an Irish twist. I even found myself reading it in my best Irish voice. lol This book made me feel swoony and stabby on so many levels that I couldn’t put it down, needing to know know how it would all play out. Not only was this a wonderful story but it shows just how much family and love isn’t made just of blood relation.

“Blood may be thicker than water, but love is thicker than anything.”

Lis is a beautiful sweet girl who’s been through so much. She’s so broken in so many ways that I hurt right along with her. She’s independent and determined to better her life and get over her past, trying to forget.

Aidan, Goshh the Irish stud that swooped me off my feet. This man is beautiful, talented and so caring. He too has been through heartbreak and loss but is healing and trying to move on. He wears his heart on his sleeve and it shows by the care he gives to the ones he loves.

These two have a chemistry that will leave you wanting more. Will their pasts allow them to move on? This is a MUST READ and will have you wanting a drink in hand while devouring all the words.

Mrs. Enders’ Thank you for this beautiful story!! Congratulations on this amazing debut! I can’t wait for more!❤️

I absolutely LOVE this debut novel by KC Enders!!! I was instantly attached to this beautiful story and characters. The characters have a great chemistry and an amazing connection. The story flows nicely with a steady pace, it’s relatable, emotional, steamy, and sweet.

Both the story and Aidan were instant loves for me. I love his heart! He’s sexy, caring, sweet; perfect. I love that neither of them were looking for love but it found them. Lis has a sad past with her family and previous relationship. She’s so strong and has a kind heart; she is focused on school and she’s working hard to improve her life. Aidan supportive but I also think he helps her find a balance while still working on reaching her goals. That’s one of the reasons I love them together.

This is book one from the Beekman Hills series and I am beyond ready for the second. I can’t wait to read more by this author; she’s a talented writer and I'm so excited to read what she writes next.

I loved this story. I loved the characters. I loved the setting and all of their friends and family and just almost everything.

The only thing that really threw me was that everything happened SO FAST. I wanted them to slow down and be together for longer than they were before committing the way they did.

But I very quickly fell in love with Aidan and his not OTT alpha-ness. I very quickly fell in love with Lis and her quirks and her drive. I fell in love with them as a couple and rooted for them.

Man, if only they had a little communication there, amirite? ;)

Anyway, this is a spectacular debut novel by the ever-awesome KC Enders. Congrats on a stellar story!

KC Enders' debut novel introduces us to Lis, a student and bartender, who is on her own trying to deal with life. And we also meet Aidan, a sexy Irish bartender who is also a photographer and dealing with his own issues in life.

It's a sweet love story that definitely has bumps in the road, which makes it more like real life.

I can say I'm SO glad to see it marked as "Beekman Hills #1" because that tells me there is more to come, and it definitely left me wanting more.

Will definitely be on the lookout for more by this author! Good stuff!

When Lisbeth last relationship ended it also ended her contact with her sister and mother. Yep, that bad, stabbed in the back by your own family, but they have always put her older sister above her. Moving on Lis is doing it on her own, college, working and she has a plan to get to be a nurse. Luckily Lis has an amazing best friend Gracyn who makes go out to their home town bar, who by the way is more family to her, She meets the new bartender. Aidan from Ireland has come to the States to get away from what was happening back home, he is automatically smitten with Lis. He knows he wants more but can he deter her from her plan.
This was a sweet book Aidan was an amazing man who really killed me the entire read. A gentleman, a savior, just everything any girl would want in a boyfriend. Lis, I get her past sucks but I wanted to shake her and say look what's in front of you. I thought the book was all give from Aidan, I don't feel like Lis put any effort toward any of her relationships, even with her Gracyn, She was a taker. Expect you know when she wanted to go to the wedding which was the stupidest thing ever. You should never ever put yourself in that position to be cut down. “Blood may be thicker than water, but love is thicker than anything.”

Received an ARC at no cost to author on behalf of Enticement Journey Book Promotions. We meet poor Lis that has a horrible family, luckily the loved she lacked from her family she found in friends. Even though her life was rough, she has been able to survive, and then we meet Aiden, who is so captivated by her.. I will not give your more info, so that you can read! But it is a good love story. Enjoy!

I love Lis and Aidan together!

Their book, Troubles, was a fun introduction to both of them, their friends, and the charming town they live in.

Aidan is just the right amount of supportive and caring, and I found myself rooting him on in his pursuit of Lis. He is a genuinely good guy who just wants the best for her.

Lis has been through the wringer. Her family life and last relationship were terrible, but she is working hard to make a better life for herself. She is just trying to do her best and rise above, and that made her a relatable character for me.

The plot is well paced and I appreciated that the world was fleshed out with great characters like Gracyn, Finn, and Francie.

I am already reading the next book, Twist, and can't wait for Gracyn's story!

I read the second book in this series, Twist, first and loved it so much that I had to read Troubles. As a debut novel this book is outstanding and KC Enders has become one of my go to authors.

Let’s talk about drool worthy Aiden, sigh. The man pulled on my heartstrings and well as made me fan myself with his Irish hotness. Trying to get over a family tragedy, he’s come to America. Francie welcomes him to McBrides with open arms.

Lisbeth is working through her own past troubles and has devoted herself to finish school and working to pay for it. She really doesn’t have it in her to put herself out there, worried about getting her heart broken again.

Aiden is hooked on Lis from the moment he meets her. Those around her are very protective of her and make sure that Aiden knows that he better mind himself. Aiden works to prove himself to Lis and her protectors.

I loved how their story unfolded. The charm that Aiden showed in his interactions with Lis is magical. He not only want to show Lis that he is good for her, but that she is worthy of love. When trouble finds its way into their relationship, Aiden tries to handle but it leaves Lis heartbroken. As they work their way through it lit up my heart. I loved how this story found its way to an HEA.

With wonderful supporting characters, exceptional writing and marvelous storyline, I see a very bright future for KC Enders.

Aidan and Lis!😍

I found out about this book in a FB reader's group, and couldn't wait to one-click. I liked the story, the characters, and absolutely loved Aidan and Lis as a couple. From the moment he saw her, he was mesmerized. Nothing and no one could keep him from falling for Lis. I'm so glad she had friends who really looked out for her because her family sucks! Seriously, they are pure evil! At times, I wanted Lis to really let loose, and LET THEM HAVE IT! I was furious that she kept allowing them make her feel insecure. It was exhausting! She's a good person, and she did not have to put up with that crap from her family, or her douche of an ex. Before I read it, I was thinking the same thing Aidan says; there's no way that she could be actually related to those people! Anyway, I like how this couple's relationship develops and how they get to know one another. Some would probably say that Aidan was almost too perfect, but I think that he was genuinely and truly patient with Lis. There was a small hiccup that had me a little nervous, but I was spared having my heart ripped out. LOL! I did want more in the epilogue though.

Charming

This first story in the Beekman Hills series tells the story of Lisbeth and Aiden. Lis guards her heart so carefully after being betrayed by her former boyfriend. Aiden has arrived in the US from Ireland, running away from a family tragedy.

Aiden is smitten from the first glance and works so, so hard to win Lis over. She is fiercely protected by close friends and he endeavours to prove himself worthy. What that man won’t do for her! He is the quintessential charming Irishman, and his love for her is just swoon-worthy.

Alas, the path of true love never runs smooth and there are problems caused by outside influences. Misunderstandings abound and just when you think all hope is lost, Lis bravely tackles her problems head on in search of her happy ever after.

The characters are just wonderful; charming Aiden and fragile Lis, along with a cast of supporting characters interesting enough to further the series. It’s safe to say I shall want to call into McBrides on Main to see these characters again.

Lisbeth Rittenhouse has too many hits in life to do anything else but keep her head down. Her longtime boyfriend broke her heart, while her family treats her like absolute garbage. Now, all she wants to do is graduate college early, and so she stays busy between classes, and work. Photographer Aidan Kearney leaves Ireland to get away from the pain of losing his brother, and ends up settling down in the small town of Beekman Hills, New York, getting a job as a bartender. He never believes that he would meet anyone like Lis there. But he wants her, while she's trying to run from him, so who will win in the race for love? Troubles is a story that I couldn't believe was a debut book from the very talented K.C. Enders, as I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. The angst levels are sky high, and I'm still emotional, even though I finished it yesterday. Lis has had too much happen to her by her family, and I wanted to choke all of them out for their actions, & hurtful words. Aidan is a good guy dealing with tragic set of circumstances, so I really wanted them together from the beginning. Did he makes mistakes, yeah a few, and was Lis too scared at times, very much so, but together they just fit. And the colorful cast of secondaries absolutely gave me a lot of relief from the angsty goodness, by making me laugh throughout. And the icing on the cake is the twists that had me cursing like a sailor aboard a submarine. I CANNOT WAIT to see what this new author comes out with next, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Troubles by KC Enders easily set the bar for the rest of her career as a writer. This phenomenal debut novel slowly crept it’s way into my top five of 2017. It’s not a book I had been anticipating and honestly, I went into it blind. I didn’t even know of KC until mid-october when I happened across her name on Facebook, in reader groups and such. I saw her sign ups for ARC’s and decided to give it a shot. I think I skimmed the description, saw Dublin and photographer, and was interested. I never expected to love this book so much - and honestly those are my favorite kinds of reads. The ones that you don’t see coming, but that grab you up, take you in and make you a part of their world. This book did that for me. I’m so mad that I can’t read it again for the first time!

I’ ve always had a thing for the Irish (and the Scots, but another time and place for that…). I find their culture fascinating and this book had me reeling from the very start. Aiden is incredibly hardworking and dedicated, I love strong man, but I can’t stand the “alpha” personality. Aiden was a breath of fresh air for me in this romance genre. I loved that while this book was unpredictable, and sexy… it also took it’s time. I adore the way KC writes and develops her characters. You can tell a lot of love went into this book, and the authentic feel of it all just warmed my heart, and made me smile. A great debut, and a new book boyfriend to swoon over!

Oh wow! Talk about playing on my heartstrings.. first off I want to say everyone and I mean everyone deserves an Aiden!!! I fell in love with him reading the story....
I am so happy that I got to go on this journey with Lisbeth and Aiden... for me white grabbed me with how patient and loving and caring and devoted Eden was to Lisbeth , knowing by just watching her that he couldn’t go for force like a bull in a China shop with her he had to be slow and just to show her that he is there for her no matter what to trust to love...

To watch them come together and to slowly develop the relationship that everyone dreams of having but also seeing the other ups and downs to see Lis with her demons and her insecurities and everything else that she has to deal with...
and to watch Aidan be there for her no matter what.
I was so into the story that it had me sitting there yelling at Lis how not to take what she sees things aren’t what they seem don’t do it freaking out and yelling at Aidan saying don’t do it!!
And crying I was crying because I could feel the pain and just picture it..

And you know what who knew that I would fall in love with an Irish bartender .... this is definitely a five star read for me it had me swoon ,laughing ,crying and fanning my face at those hot moments...
what more can you ask for!

Oooooh yes! Troubles is SO GOOD! Sweet and swoony with just a pinch of angst that keeps you absolutely glued to the pages it will completely melt you. Troubles is my favorite kind of romance. You’ve got the heart melting love, the lovely kind hearted heroine, the hero that is deliciously sweet and sexy, and fantastic friends who always have their backs. I loved this book!

Hardworking, kind, and smart Lis is making her way through college with no help from her family. What she lacks in good blood relations, she more than makes up for with the family of friends that she’s built. When she goes to the local Irish pub owned by her surrogate father for St. Patrick’s Day she’s not expecting to meet an Irishman that instantly attracts her. Aiden came to America to get away from the tragedy of losing his brother. Working in a pub owned by his friend he never meant to meet a beautiful woman that he can’t get out of his head.

I loved Aiden! He was so incredibly wonderful. His romantic ways will have you swooning constantly. He falls hard and fast for Lis and I loved every second of it. Lis and Aiden were so sweet together! Theirs was a truly romantic kind of love. Sweet and adorable, these two will absolutely make you melt.

Wow Troubles is crazy emotional I know I'll definitely read more books by K.C Enders in the future , you'll go through so many things while reading this by being happy , sad , angry , love and hate characters it just has everything . Ok the hero is freaking Irish and I'm a accent hoe (wink) with his brogue I was pretty much drooling the first time he's introduced .Lis has been through one of the worst betrayal so she's really guarded I liked her but wish that she would have put people in their place a lot sooner then when she does . I can't wait to read more by this author Troubles is a must read the only thing that I semi didn't like was the end It's told in someone elses point of view but over all good read .

This is phenomenal debut!!! From the very first page of this book, I was sucked in and couldn't put it down until I was finished.

Lis and Aidan have both experienced so much heartache before they met each other but the connection and chemistry they share begins to heal them both. Both have insecurities, both have barriers to overcome but from the second these two meet, you have no choice but to root for them to be able to overcome the obstacles to be together.

One of the amazing things of finding an author at the beginning of their career is following the journey from the very start. I am so glad that I discovered this book and can't wait to see what's comes next for this amazing debut author!!

What an amazing debut! I read this book practically in one sitting because I just didn't want to put it down. Lis and Aiden are a wonderful couple, and their story is unpredictable, swoonworthy, and sexy. Both of them have demons they're running from: Lis has a horrible family, and Aiden has suffered a terrible loss in his family. The way these issues play out in the book is both dramatic and realistic. It was wonderful to see Aiden recognize that Lis needed someone who would respect her drive for independence but also her need to have someone take care of her, and to see Lis learn to accept that help. KC Enders is an excellent writer whose characters stay with you. I can't wait to see what she writes next!
