The stone house at 134 Old Post Road North has been home to a series of other artists and notables. Muralists Kenyon Coxe, who painted the murals at the Wisconsin state capitol, and Jules Guer, who painted the murals at the Lincoln Memorial, lived there for a time. So did the diplomat and lawyer, Philip Jessup, who served as assistant secretary-general of what was to become the United Nations.
Tucked into a rocky hill overlooking the Hudson, the 5,400-square-foot main house is well-hidden from the road. It was built in 1917, and at that time sat on 11 acres. Today it sits on 2.6 acres. The asking price is $1,695,000. The real estate blog Curbed described the interior as “artless” and in need of a “thorough going over.”
