Dukes Add Tinsley

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Transfer guard Brianna Tinsley has joined the James Madison Women's Basketball program, as announced by head coach Sean O'Regan Monday morning. Tinsley will sit out the 2019-20 season due to transfer rules.

Tinsley is a transfer from Virginia who played in all 31 games making 27 starts for the Cavaliers during the 2018-19 season. She was second on the team with 44 three-pointers made and assists with 56 dishes. Tinsley was third on the team in points (237), points per game (7.6) and fourth in steals (24). She scored a career-high 19 points three separate times this past season (at Michigan State, vs. Florida State and at Syracuse). During her freshman season for the Cavaliers, Tinsley played in all 33 games making 28 starts. She averaged 4.1 points per game and added 1.7 rebounds per game. She is a two-time Scrimmage Play area Player of the Year from St. Anne's Belfield. Tinsley was both a three-time First Team All-Central Virginia Team and three-time First Team VISAA Division I All-State member. Tinsley will sit out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
 
Coach O'Regan on Tinsley: "Very pleased to be able to add a proven scorer and point guard to our team.  I've known Brianna a long time and I'm excited to see her in purple and gold.  She adds experience and depth to our future backcourt."
