Nearly 4,000 counter-protesters are expected to stand up against the views of white nationalists on the one-year anniversary of the deadly "Unite the Right" rally Sunday.

First Amendment gatherings like rallies, marches and protests happen often in the nation’s capital. But Washington, D.C. law enforcement is not treating "Unite the Right 2" like any other event after learning from the violent and deadly clashes in Charlottesville.

Agencies like the U.S. Secret Service, Metropolitan Police Department and U.S. Park Police have coordinated officers and a safety plan weeks ahead of the rally and demonstrations. The official rally is expected to start around 5:30 p.m. with multiple counter protest events expected as early as 11 a.m. through the rest of the day.

Unite the Right 2 march route and road closures to impact D.C. on Sunday

According to the event's public website, the rally will kick off with an assembly at the Vienna Metro Station around 2 p.m. where they plan to take the Metro to the Foggy Bottom Station. From there, a march will start at 5 p.m. to Lafayette Square where they plan to start rallying at 5:30 p.m.

The D.C. International Socialist Organization, in alliance with the Shut It Down coalition.

Unity Against Hate - Rally in D.C. - #AgapeMarch

The Agape March began on August 3 in New York City. Marchers will arrive in D.C. on August 12 and rally at the MLK monument from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Chance for storms with heavy rain and wind during 'Unite The Right 2' in DC

The was a Coastal Flood Advisory in D.C. until noon and a chance for storms Sunday from 3 p.m. through 9 p.m. Some of them may be on the stronger side with damaging winds along with very heavy rainfall.
