CLIFTON, Colo. — Nearly 30 acres of land is going to be under local control after being controlled by the federal government.

A water retention pond and canal are the only things you’ll find along Interstate 70 and 32 Road . Now, that land is on the table for a number of options, including retail and industrial use. The opening of the land plays into a long term goal of driving more people into the 32 Road corridor, allowing the economic development to the east.

While the population of Mesa County is around 100,000 people, Grand Junction Economic Partnership says Mesa County draws over 400,000 people to the area, mostly for things like health care and recreation.

The addition of this land and potential commercial use will greatly benefit the Clifton area.
