As a Catholic and Jesuit community, we believe every human life is a gift from God, every human life is sacred, and the dignity of every person must be respected and protected. Our faith is a lens through which we analyze the realities in our world and leads us to discern the steps towards social action. 

St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, repeatedly stated that faith must be put into action. Similarly, Fr. Pedro Arrupe, S.J. (Jesuit Superior General 1965-1983) said, "We cannot separate action for justice from the proclamation of the Word of God." We are called to be men and women for and with others, and Catholic Social Teaching provides a framework through which we might discover how to live as people for others.
