USA – -(AmmoLand.com)- The Rakkasan is part of the CRKT Forged By War program. Austin McGlaun from Columbus, Georgia designed this for his fellow veterans, including those still fighting the battles to keep our nation free.

CRKT RAKKASAN Tactical Knife

Jim carried a Randall fighting knife in Vietnam. After seeing this blade he remarked that it would have been the perfect backup, last resort, to the Randall. That is pretty high praise coming from a man who loved his Randall and never thought he would see another blade that he would trust his life with. I guess he was wrong, as he will not part with the “sample” Rakkasan that CRKT provided us with for testing.

Don’t get the idea that the Rakkasan is only good for tactical or defensive situations. It is just as at home on your belt during any excursion into the field. The design, as well as the quality of its steel, make it a perfect all-around multi-purpose belt knife.

The Rakkasan blade is fabricated from SK-5 steel, a high carbon Japanese steel. It is their equivalent of American 1080, commonly used in the best survival/tactical knives. SK-5 blades are tough, hold their edge well and can be used to cut through just about anything that a knife can be called upon to cut.

The specifications of the CRKT RAKKASAN Tactical Knife are:

  • Blade Length: 4.894 in. (124.31 mm)
  • Blade Edge: Plain
  • Blade Material: SK-5 Carbon Steel, HRC 55-58
  • Blade Finish: Abrasion resistant powder coating
  • Blade Thickness: 0.147 in. (3.73 mm)
  • Weight: 9.2 oz.
  • Handle Material: G10
  • Sheath Material: Black Kydex with Paracord
  • Overall Length: 10.438 in. (265.13 mm)

Given its lifetime warranty and versatility, the 2018 MSRP of $125.00 is very reasonable and even less $$ online. As with all of the tools in the Forged By War program, CRKT donates 10 percent of the net profits to the charity of the veteran maker’s choice.
