The Red Cross is asking for help in the wake of Hurricane Florence.
Shelters opened across eastern North Carolina Thursday night, and at last count, there were more than 20,000 people in more than 200 shelters
You can donate directly to the Red Cross here.
The Red Cross also needs blood donors.
The blood center in Pitt County is open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.
The Red Cross recommends you not bring items directly to the shelter.
Instead, there are a number of places you can donate your items. We have a list of some of those locations below, and we will add to it as we get updates from affected communities.
New Bern officials ask those wishing to donate to please contact Eddie Games of the Craven Co. Parks & Recreations at 252-671-6144. Supplies will need to go to Amitol Building on 197 Bosch Boulevard.
In Pitt County, you can drop off items at the following locations. Please go to the organization closest to you, and please call the number listed BEFORE dropping off donations.
