New Mesa County Administrator, Pete Baier, presented his first budget in his new role. There will be slight increases in projected spending and revenue heading into 2020. Mesa County expects to see about a 1.8% increase in sales tax revenue, and increased spending is expected for things like Human Services and Public Health.

The 2020 Colorado presidential primary moving to Super Tuesday is also causing increased spending to provide people and services on voting day. The other challenges ahead for county budgeting include unfunded mandates, the Mesa County Detention Facility expansion and legislative directives.

The budget proposal will be available online at the end of the workday on October 15th.
