Salvation Army seeks donations to help with flooding relief
The Salvation Army is asking for donations to help flooded communities asking for supplies.
Since Monday, the organization has collected 200 cases of donated bottled water, which has been delivered to communities up north.
"We have currently provided assistance to date for 100 individuals. Atchison, Kansas, is under a boil water order and so we desperately need water," said Dalvius Harvy, of the Salvation Army.
Donations are being taken at the Salvation Army's downtown warehouse and its 28 community centers. Another relief truck will be sent to flooded areas soon.
"We are currently gearing up volunteers to go out and provide hot meals and hydration at shelters, as well as going and scouting through neighborhoods to find those in need of assistance," Harvy said.
Part of the assistance involves cleanup. The Salvation Army is putting together clean-up kits that cost $25 each.
