Perfect for Movies/Music/Looks
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned the smaller Motion 4's along with Motion 6 Center Channel & Dynamo 700 Sub for a few years now. The Motion 4's were used as my stereo speakers in a smaller Condo - Recently moved into a new home and wanted the "big brother" Motion 40's to fill the space. They've delivered at every level - They sound exceptionally clean/detailed, and they're pretty to look at. I have them hooked up to a Yamaha RX-A760 Reciever along with the Dynamo 700/Motion 6/and ML Installer series in-ceilings. There's nothing I love more than cranking the volume up and letting these bad boys shine.

Amazing Sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to BB to put together a moderate Klipsch 5.1 system but they sounded to 'tinny' to me. I increased the budget, decided on just a good 3.1 'front stage' system and went to Magnolia, entertaining the ML ESL's. Their 'sweet spot' is amazing, but it's to small for my multi position seating area. My only option was traditional towers for my intended purpose. I included B&W to compare with the ML 40's and the 40's just sounded better to me. The 40's also included a free ML 500 sub. After bringing them home I'm certain I made the right choice and they're even better after adding the 30 center to compliment them. I now have a solid system that can only be upgraded by adding speakers, not replacing them. Now that's a worthy value!

clean and accurate sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.very happy with the purchase of the martin logan motion 40s. put them up against the best speakers in the magnolia showroom. to my ear they sound nearly as good as the B&W CM9s at half the price. if you drive them they will produce a surprising amount of bass. i am using Marantz PM8005 integrated amp CD6005 cd player. very soon to add SVS SB2000 powered sub to the mix.my listening preference is singer/song writer, jazz, rock. the vocals are are crisp and accurate. my room is medium size 1600 cu. ft., hardwood floors with a rug in the middle. my fear was that they might be a little bright in this room. i was very pleased when i got them home. they sound great ! still in the break-in period so i expect them to only get better ! I highly recommend !

Wow!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally had a pair of Viena Acoustic Bach Tower Speakers that I picked up at an estate sale and fell in love with these speakers...unfortunately they blew on me and I was sad. So I went to Best Buy thinking I would find a decent pair for now till I could afford a new pair of Viena Acoustic. I went to Best Buy and saw that the Marin Logans were on sale and I could not pass up the deal as I had always wanted a pair. I have been in the break in period right now but even so these speakers are just as amazing as the Viena Acoustic but at a cheaper price range. The highs are very crisp and detailed. I can hear just about every instrument or acoustics. Sound stage is wide specially that I have it in stereo configuration via a Yamaha AS500 integrated amp and Marantz CD6006 CD player. I am one again in love with speakers.

Astonishing sound...remarkable depth and clarity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first disconnected my Cerwin Vegas and Big old Pioneer CS907's, I felt a little sad and awkward as if I were making a mistake with my system. Once my new ML's were out of the box, I felt an overwhelming sense of hope as these speakers look and feel fantastic...even my girlfrined agreed. I fired-up my Amp and selected 'Anastasia' on the new Slash CD. I admit that I was not prepared for the fullness and depth that came from my stereo system. Immediately I was filled with joy and a sense of achievement that my decision to buy these speakers was probably the best decision I could have made. I've listened to some pretty high end systems and mine sounded as good as a 30K$ equivalent. If anyone should ever ask me what speakers they should buy, I will not hesistate to tell them to buy these ML's. Happy listening!

Amazing Sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers not only sound great, they also look good. The sound is crisp, clear, and true for the treble, bass, and mid-range. We use them for TV, DVD's, radio, and music. We were concerned about adding floor speakers because they might detract from the look of our room, but these are slim and unobtrusive. Highly recommend.

Well worth it!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got these on sale to replace my 13 years old Wharfedale Diamond Series towers & Center. I thought the Wharfedales were excellent speakers for the money but these are just on absolutely another level. Mated with the Motion 30 center plus a 12" SW for ht with Marantz 6013 as preamp and my workhorse Carver 5 channel amp to push, I am a happy camper! Can't imagine anything sounding better unless you spend 3 times as much, even then...This won me over for the sound as well as the looks. Wife acceptance factor was off the chart and she hates big boxy speakers.

Q: QuestionI have an old school onkyo intgra P-504 amp and P-304 pre amp and listen to 70,80,90s classic rock I currently have Polk speakers with built in duel 8 in subs with 150 watt amps 61/2 in mid bass and 1 in dome tweeters , do you recommend the ML 40 for me?
Asked by Chevy69.
- A:Answer You may want to check your Integra amp manual to ensure it is designed to run 4 ohm speakers. I tried running them with a 90’s Denon that was not 4 ohm compatible and the amp ran hot. If you are planning to run a second set of speakers from your Integra, as I was from my Denon, check to see if the combined ohms work for your amp. If the Integra can handle 4 ohm speakers, the Motion 40’s produce a good amount of bass, though likely not as much as speakers with built in subs. The mids and highs are quite good. I use them for the same type of music you are planning to play and they sound quite good. Definitely hearing more detail than I’ve heard before in my old cd’s. If you enjoy a high volume of bass you may want to add a powered sub to your setup.
