Rounding up new singles from Rostam, Scarypoolparty and Devon Williams, all of whom have new albums or EPs on the horizon …

ROSTAM, “4Runner”

On the heels of last month’s single “These Kids We Knew,” Rostam has announced that his new album “Changephobia” will be out June 4. “4Runner” is the road trip-worthy new single, swathed in reverb and big percussion.

SCARYPOOLPARTY, “Universe” (feat. Nothing, Nowhere)

Last year saw Pomona’s Alejandro Aranda — aka Scarypoolparty — release the new EP “Doom Hologram” and open for himself at a concert at Drive-In OC. There’s almost no style Aranda won’t explore, so here’s the new trap-inspired banger “Universe,” which features a guest appearance by emo rapper Nothing, Nowhere. It’s the first single from a four-song EP, “Los Angeles,” which is co-produced by SAWYR and being released March 26. “The ‘Los Angeles’ EP is made to be listened to in the car with the bass bumping and the windows down, just cruising,” Aranda says. “Fun, wild, piano arpeggios and 808s.”

DEVON WILLIAMS, “La La La La II”

We do not normally feature remakes/remixes/do-overs, but … Devon Williams’ “La La La La II” is just so damned pretty. Last year, Williams released his first album in six years, “A Tear in the Fabric.” Then the pandemic blues set in. While contemplating “the ideas of running out of time, feeling stagnant, self-doubt,” Williams says, he reworked three old songs and packaged them with one new one for the EP “Out of Time,” arriving tomorrow in time for a Bandcamp Friday. “La La La La” originally appeared on Williams’ album “Euphoria,” released 10 years ago.
