UNION — The Town of Union plowing department was hit with another obstacle last week when someone robbed the department of an important piece of equipment.

Sometime Wednesday or Thursday of last week, an unknown thief entered the Public Works property on Heald Highway and made off with a new Fisher stainless XV2 plow.

In April of this year, fire destroyed a plow truck and scorched the interior of the Town’s plow garage.

“We do not have our garage completed yet and it [the new Fisher plow] would usually be inside,” said Town Manager Jay Feyler.

Union does not have a replacement.

Though it was designed to attach to almost any pickup truck, according to Feyler, this particular plow was exclusive to Union’s Ram 2500 truck, used for plowing of the Union Common parking lots and town office.

The plow itself is estimated at a cost of around $3,000. However the entire setup (with old headgear) is estimated around $5,000.

If you have information regarding the plow theft, “Or, if you were driving by late one of those evenings and saw activity,” said Union’s Facebook page, contact the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
