The American Legislative Exchange Council released its twelfth annual “Rich State, Poor State” review recently and Vermont continues to suffer one of the worst economic outlooks in the nation. It ranked 49 out of 50 for overall economic outlook. The Green Mountain state has finished last or second-to-last every year since 2008.

New Hampshire finished 16th, and continues to climb the chart.

The late John Poole knew what he was talking about in his letters to the editor when he used to compare VT & NH. John must be turning over in his grave. NH is fortunate to have many businesses especially in the southern part of the state. However, NH is careful how and where it spends it money. Their roads are batter (are you enjoying the ride between St. J & Montpelier?) No sales tax is certainly a boom to border cities , as well as no inheritance tax nor income tax.. Their rating in property taxes is about the same as VT but that's where things end. Liberal Democrats in VT have put us in this position and it affects everyone's' pocketbook.. VT has go to stop it's tax and spend policies and wake up to what other responsible states are doing.
