An anti-lockdown protest, which is taking place on The Hoe in Plymouth, is currently going ahead peacefully.

The event has been dubbed a “worldwide rally for freedom” and started at 1pm.

Similar protests are being held in cities across the UK and around the world. Organisers ‘Demo 2021’ stated: “We will make it clear that the government’s attempts to divide us have been unsuccessful. Together we will ALL be on this demo to demonstrate against the current corona measures.”

Darren Denslow, who was an independent candidate for Peverell in the recent council election, tweeted: “Come see this beautiful historic city and bring some positive energy. After all, everyone wants their freedoms back.

“So just had a chat with the police, everyone is peaceful so they are going back to the station to solve real crimes. They wanted this anti lockdown protest to social distance.”
