No. I bought one and they are new. Never used.  I had to call support for an issue (my fault) and they're new. My box was a bit dinged up but I had friends that bought the same and the boxes were just like new.

Mine came in a box that has a certified sticker on it, so it looks like they are shipping refurbished out at full price.  I will be returning mine.

Yes, you can add any of the arlo cameras (1, pro, and pro 2).

You can add up to some 50  cameras, however the free service is ONLY for 5 cameras. You can add / mix any Cams, from older Arlo wire-free, Pro Cam (like these) or the Pro2 HD cams to the same account and base station.

You can add up to 50 cameras to the base station and more. The FREE service is only up to 5 cameras for 7 day could. After that its $99 a fear up to 10 cams with bonus features. They have plans as well for up to 100 cameras .

Can more cameras be added to this system?

I have 2 cameras on 24/7, battery last about a 4-6 weeks.. they don't take a long time to charge.  The 7 days of free cloud storage works great for me.

Installation is around 1hr from opening the box to done. Could be quicker depends on how/where you want to mount /put the cameras.  Batteries take about an 2-3hrs to charge.  I'd recommend putting them up and charging them one dead/almost dead.  

Use the app for installation.  You will probalby spend 10-15mins over the next week in adjusting the app for motion/sound alerts and /or moving the cameras around for best alerts. Once setup and done then just need to re-charge batteries.  They have tons of vidoes on their youtube channel (Arlo) for help.

How long in a typical installation can you expect the camera batteries to last before needing to be recharged.

My grand daughter housesits, we recently had an incident where a paralegal, was coming to our home at strange hours of the morning and cyber bullying her.  We wanted evidence so we can charge with him with criminal trespassing, and ARLO went above and beyond to help us with catching him! It timestamps, uploads to cloud and ARLO work in full collaboration with Police when filing reports.  Excellent 24/7 surveillance and reporting.  Also our other camera caught the license plate and lets an alert tell us when someone is sneaking on property.

Excellent value.  In the box, it comes with a brand new VMS4230 two camera pack and comes with an additional mount! Completely wireless and super easy to install. The magnetic mounting makes it really easy to position.

Amazing Value, Easy to Install

My order came quick.  Inside my Walmart.com box was a brown box which had the Arlo camera kit and mount inside that box. The box was a bit dusty and dented corners but other then that they looked new with a certified sticker and worked perfectly.  We setup the arlo account with the app and setup was quick and easy.

Simple and easy to install

The cameras are great when compared to the non-pro Arlo cameras. I did have an issue with the base station. It would not stay connected to my router and never bothered to investigate a solution because my old base station worked fine. The additional features that this base station provided did not influence my purchase because this setup was on sale for a cheaper price than purchasing individual cameras.

Excellent addition to home security!

Great picture quality and I love that you don't have to pay a monthly fee.  The only negative I have found is you can't just disarm one camera.  And if you can I haven't figured it out yet.  Also there is a delay in live view mode.  Great product!

Arlo pro works great

Product is a good one but the item shipped to me had a “Certified” sticker on it indicating that it was a refurbished system. The description clearly states it is “new” condition.

Not as described

Setup was challenging: The steps outlined in the app were different than the steps shown in Support. Several tries to get the base to work (device not found).  Went around and around a few times with that issue.  Several tries to get cameras to work.  (device not found) then finally they started working. Finally it all worked for about a week (why things suddenly started working is a mystery) and was recording!  Night vision was poor and heavily pixellated (despite choosing high quality setting ..)  Then one camera dropped offline and showed the dreaded  "Device is Offline".  Couldn't get it to re set or pair again.  Second camera wouldn't pair as well. Then, trying to reset the base station showed  "device not found".  Unplugged everything, took out batteries, left it overnight, went for a hard factory reset ... it wouldn't reset. I know what I'm doing with electronics, followed everything in the knowledge base.  Tried to chat, chat didn't even work ... very disappointed.  And it was all plugged into and briefly working with a Netgear mesh router.

Some Serious Issues

App is very unrefined, issues connecting and monitoring cameras out of the box. Poor quality video even with the fastest internet XFINITY provides. Strong signal umbrella over the entire home via access points both upstairs and downstairs.

Sorry netgear but this one sucks!

I bought Arlo before from Amazon and after 3+ years those units still working solid. Yet the one I bought here had trouble from time to time. Within a year it stopped recording and i had to remove and add back to make it work. Now 16 month later, one unit completely stopped recording and the old trick of remove and add back no longer work. The unit also stops responding when doing motion test. I recall someone wrote a review stating the units are not brand new but refurbished. My experience seems support that claim!
