Deputies investigate if suspect connected to yacht theft

Two women were arrested Sunday in connection with stealing a boat in San Joaquin County.Marcela Martinez, 23, and Kaili Garrett, 28, were taken into custody at Paradise Point, in the 8000 block of Rio Blanco Road, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said.The women are accused of stealing an aluminum boat. Investigators said they are also looking into whether the suspects were involved in a yacht theft.Deputies on Sunday stumbled upon the "Seaduction" at Disappointment Slough, north of Tiki Lagoon, as they were investigating the aluminum boat theft, the sheriff’s office said. The yacht was returned to its owner.The suspects were found Sunday when Stockton police officers responded to a suspicious person call near Paradise Point.Garrett and Martinez were booked into San Joaquin County Jail on charges of possession of a stolen vessel, burglary and taking a vessel without the owner’s consent.No other details were released.
