Printing shipping labels and shipping documents
You can print your shipping labels, customs forms, and packing slips in the following ways:
- individually or in bulk when you're buying shipping labels
- individually or in bulk from the Shipping labels page at any time after you purchase your labels
- individually from an order's page
To print your shipping documents, you need to use a desktop printer or a Shopify-supported label printer.

Create a custom store name on your shipping labels
By default, the name of the sender on your shipping labels is the store name that you've set in your Shopify admin. However, you might want to change this name for gift purchases, or if local regulations require that you use a legal business name instead of your store's commercial name.
Before you set a custom name for your shipping labels, review the following considerations:
- By default, packing slips for your shipments display your store name rather than a customized name. However, your packing slips can be edited in the Shopify admin.
- Custom names must be at least 3 characters long, and can't be longer than 25 characters.
- Custom names can't contain code such as HTML.
- Custom names can't contain the word Shopify.
- Some special characters aren't supported, such as * or #.
After you set a customized store name for your shipping labels, it's displayed on shipping labels printed for every supported carrier.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery.
In the Documents section, click Sender name on shipping labels.
Select Custom name, and then enter your preferred name.
Click Save.
Change the origin or return address on your shipping labels
The origin address displayed on your shipping labels is taken from your fulfillment locations. If you have more than one location, then the address displayed on the label is the location that the order is fulfilled from.
To change the origin or return address on your shipping labels, you need to update your location address in your Shopify admin.
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Locations.
Click the location that you want to update.
In the Address section, update your address information.
Click Save.
After you change your location address, newly purchased labels display the updated address. Labels that were purchased before the address change aren't updated.
Printing shipping labels with customs forms and packing slips
You can print your shipping documents separately, or you can combine and resize them to fit on your selected printing paper format. For example, if you print your shipping label with a packing slip using an A4 printing format, then the packing slip is resized to fit on the same page as the shipping label.
You can select one of the following paper formats to print your shipping documents:
- Thermal (4 x 6 inch / 100 x 150 mm / A6) for label printers
- Letter (8.5 x 11 inch / 216 x 279 mm) for desktop printers
- A4 (8.3 x 11.7 inch / 210 x 297 mm) for desktop printers
Review the following example of a shipping label printed with a packing slip on a letter paper format.
Print your shipping labels after label purchase
After you buy your shipping labels, you can print shipping labels, packing slips, and customs forms individually or in bulk at any time from the Shipping labels page. You can also reprint your shipping documents. You can print a maximum of 100 shipping labels at the same time.
Your shipping labels can have Printed or Not printed status that indicates whether you've already printed your shipping labels.
Printing multiple documents of different sizes results in the documents opening in separate PDF files. If you have pop-up blockers active on your device or browser, then only the first PDF opens. To ensure that all the PDFs open, deactivate your pop-up blockers.
