Falling for You

Rate this book
When my gorgeous favorite bakery customer witnesses the worst break-up in the history of mortifying break-ups, I only have one thought… so I kiss him.

Is it a mistake? Yes.
Do I regret it? Um, maybe?

Friends aren’t supposed to kiss—or have red-hot moments next to the bread oven. And respected bakers aren’t supposed to manhandle their customers, even the smoking-hot ones who beg to be kneaded like dough.

It’s a rebound, pure and simple. We both know it. I don’t have time for more, especially when I’m on the cusp of achieving my dream—expanding my business into hand-picked, perfect locations.

But having a friend with benefits doesn't break any my rules about letting my post-break-up heart heal. Especially when my friend is a savvy hotel owner who knows a thing or two about business.

Soon location scouting leads to wine tasting, long leisurely drives, and a very hands-on meeting in a wine cave, I decide mixing business and pleasure with the hot-as-sin charmer might be the best of both worlds.

Until an anonymous competitor seems determined to sink everything I’ve put my heart and soul into. Maybe it’s time to end our friends with benefits arrangement before I lose everything.

But what if losing Owen is losing everything? What if I’m falling for my rebound guy?

Stacy Travis writes charming, spicy romance about bookish, sassy women and the hot alphas who fall for them.

Writing makes her infinitely happy, but that might be the coffee talking. She drinks a LOT of it.

She's worked as a journalist, camp counselor, TV writer, SAT tutor, corporate finance researcher, education technology editor, and non-fiction author. When she's not on a deadline, she's in running shoes complaining that all roads seem to go uphill. Or on the couch with a margarita. Or fangirling at a soccer game.

She's never met a dog she didn't want to hug. And if you have no plans for Thanksgiving, she'll probably invite you to dinner.

Stacy lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two sons, and a poorly-trained rescue dog who hoards socks. And she's serious about the Thanksgiving thing.

When bakery owner, Isla discovers her boyfriend was cheating on her, she realizes just how much she didn’t care for him and she starts to question why she stayed with him in the first place. One of her frequent customers, Owen offers to take her to dinner to turn her crummy day around and despite her reservations, Isla agrees and has more fun with Owen in one night than she’s had with past boyfriends in years. Only, the timing is terrible. Isla just got out of a relationship and she’s having some trouble with her business. But Owen is determined to convince Isla that he isn’t like her past corporate-types and he wants to use his business expertise to help her bakery conundrum. And somewhere along the way, Isla finds herself falling in love in the most unexpected of places.

Falling for You by Stacy Travis is book 2 in the Berkeley Hills series. I really enjoyed Isla & Owen’s chemistry-filled romance. From the start, they had great banter and I loved all the foodie/bakery talk included. Although this tackled some somewhat heavier topics briefly, this overall is a light & easy read that put me in a good mood. I’m so looking forward to book three! 4/5 stars.

A sweet and fun chemistry-filled friends-to-lovers story, with the most gorgeous hero, this is a great read, and I loved it!

This is the second book in the Berkeley Hills series, and is the story of Isla, sister of Becca, from Second Chance at Us (which I adored). There is some character crossover, but this book can absolutely standalone.

Isla is a successful bakery owner, and one of the best bread makers in San Francisco. But her personal life implodes when her millionaire boyfriend is caught cheating on her by the paparazzi. She’s not devastated, since she had been looking for a way to end the relationship, but she’s embarrassed and furious at the betrayal. To add to her mortification, she has a complete meltdown in front of her most loyal customer, and kisses him in a moment of hot chemistry and not a lot of forethought. But it’s a spark which changes everything between them, and I was right on board for what was to come.

Right then I knew three things.
She was going to kill me with those lips, I was going to fall madly for her, and there was nothing I could do to stop it.

Owen is a hotel owner who has built his business in to a bit of an empire. But even though he’s a busy man, he still manages to visit Isla’s bakery every morning, coming in before opening time and watching her at work before leaving with his hot loaf of bread. She thinks he’s there because he’s a bread lover, and while that is true, he’s also biding his time until he can make his move on the beautiful bakery owner. And as soon as they share that kiss, it’s all on.

“Is everything okay? I mean, is it still cool that I stop in early or did me kissing you make it awkward?” Might as well own it. If she was going to be weird with me or kick me out of the place, I’d just as soon know about it.
She smiled. “I thought I kissed you.”
“Oh ... you kissed me good.”

Isla and Owen have fantastic chemistry, but from her perspective, the timing is all wrong. She is just getting out of an unsatisfying relationship and trying to find her way back to herself, and she doesn’t want Owen to just be a rebound. And not only does her business keep her busy, but her plans for expansion are under threat from a secret competitor and she is distracted trying to figure out who has it in for. So Owen comes board to help her save her business, and they become friends… who kiss… and who eventually have hot and steamy sex that is all kinds of sizzling.

It’s fun, sexy, natural, and so, so easy. The relationship between Isla and Owen is effortless, and over coffee, dinners, roadtrips and more, they slip into becoming a key part of each other’s lives. But while Owen is all in, Isla is determined to keep them as friends with benefits, even though she’s falling for him just as hard as he has already fallen for her.

Walking around every day with my heart in my throat, cringing every time she called me a friend…I couldn’t take it when she’d yet to give me a sign she felt a fraction of what I’d been feeling for her since the first moment our lips connected.

I adored Owen. He’s sweet, fun, funny and caring, and he wears his heart on his sleeve for Isla. She is confident yet stubborn, which does create some issues for them, but Owen’s persistence in being there for her and proving how amazing they are together kept me fully invested in their story.

We were so good together, it was hard to imagine a future with anyone but her.

There is some drama as they figure themselves out, and there are some angsty and frustrating moments, but of course, true love wins, and there’s a gorgeously happy ending and an epilogue which finishes the story off beautifully.

Isla’s large family are a part of the story, and the dynamics between her and her siblings are so much fun – especially when Owen is invited into the fold. I loved seeing the group together, and I’m excited to read more about them, with Sara’s book up next.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s just the kind of easy and natural chemistry-filled romance that I love, and I loved watching these two find their HEA.

4 stars.

You will be falling for Owen and Isla in Falling for You! This is a sweet, slow burn that will capture your heart. What begins as acquaintances soon becomes a friendship when Owen witnesses a very public breakup of Isla and her cheating boyfriend.
Isla is a very talented and successful baker. While she succeeds and excels in the world of sweets she finds herself stuck in a comfortable relationship with no spark that has run it's course. Her very wealthy and full of himself boyfriend has just been outed as a cheater on social media leaving Isla regretting not ending this on her own terms sooner! She never expects her regular early bird customer to come to her aid and offer a shoulder to cry on.
Oh Owen is all that and a bag of chips, lol. Owen is a successful hotel mogul that has a sweet tooth that brought him into this bakery a year ago but it is the beautiful owner that has kept him coming back. Not only is he sweet on her treats but also on Isla. Isla soon finds her business in jeopardy by a huge corporation being backed by a silent investor. It is now not only a friend that Isla needs but a man with an ear for business. They both know that Isla isn't ready to hop into a new relationship but a friend may be exactly what she needs. They both soon realize that beautiful things happen when you least expect it!

Overall Grade: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Stacy Travis’s Falling for You is hands-down my favorite book on her book list. Hands-down! There is something special about her hero, Owen, and her heroine, Isla. Travis crafts their chemistry so carefully and beautifully that you absolutely need them to be together from the beginning of their story. Most importantly, these two are friends at the foundation of their love. As Isla struggles through her business challenges and as she overcomes the backlash from her past relationship, Owen reads like a steady presence for her.

What I love most, though, about Travis’s Berkeley Hills series is the inclusion of the family network. In every story thus far, it’s clear the importance of family as the Finleys support, interrogate, and machinate to the betterment of its people. Thus far, in the first two books of this series, you can’t fully accept the relationship of the hero and heroine of the story until they’ve run the gauntlet of the Finleys. That camaraderie and love provide the perfect backdrop for a story such as Falling for You.

Even more, the way in which Stacy Travis treats her setting like another character in the story is seamlessly integrated into Owen and Isla’s romance. The steaminess of their time away at his vineyard just adds an additional layer that pulls you into Travis’s book.

I simply adore Owen and Isla together. They are everything you love in a hero and heroine: compatible, supportive, challenging, and combustible. When you finish Stacy Travis’s Falling for You, you won’t want to miss any future Finley family stories.

Falling for You creeps up on your blindside and worms it's way into your heart. Travis paints an endearing picture of love and the chaos it creates. Isla and Owen find themselves caught in the middle of hard truths and deep emotions. From friendship to romance, can their relationship survive the rebound? A slow burn temptation.

This was a great story by a newer to me author. I enjoyed the relationship between Isla & Owen. There are so many emotions in this story and I enjoyed seeing how their relationship evolves from friends to more than friends.

Will Steal Your Heart!

You can catch me reading a love story of any kind, but I do love one that starts with friends!

“Friends aren’t supposed to kiss—Or have red-hot moments...Is it a mistake. Yes. Do I regret it? Maybe.”

In ‘Falling For You’, Ms. Travis brings us two friends with mutual romantic feelings—neither admits. This slow-burn, beautiful, friends-to-lovers romance will steal your heart!

Witnessing her public break-up, after spending the past year in her bakery every morning, Owen Miller hopes they’re at least friends. He never did like Tom Stone for his own reasons but Islay Finely deserves so much more.
When she kisses him and offers him to be her rebound guy—can he accept the friends-to-benefits title? And will that be enough?

Ms. Travis writes contemporary romance with strong female characters and men who love their badassery! And she does it well!
You can’t help but adore these two. Their banter, inner thoughts...you find yourself cheering..telling them to release their true feelings—out loud lol But all in fun and it keeps you turning the page...
I fell in love with these characters as they were falling for each other. What a super cute love story to pull at your heartstrings!!

“My heart really likes you. So much.”

That true-to-life angst and pining, and realization—you’ve fallen in love with the love of your life. And he just happens to be your friend.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that I want to be with you—not as a friend or a friend with benefits or any of my other ridiculous titles. I want to be with you because you’re the person I love.”

An engaging, smart and witty story with realistic everyday characters—that make mistakes, suffer the consequences, and try to overcome their pasts. And..fall in love!

“I love you and I will always love you, but it can’t be from a distance. And it can’t be as just a friend.” “You will never be just a friend to me.” “Good, because this is the forever kind of love.””

An emotional, sweet and sexy read.
“...it’s not about me creating the perfect moment because all our moments are perfect...”
I was smiling A-LOT!

When Isla kisses her friend and regular customer, Owen, it changes their friendship. What was she thinking?! You can't kiss customers. You definitely cannot kiss friends. But that's what she did. And that means he's now her rebound guy considering she kissed him after her horrific breakup from her cheating ex. But, is Owen just a rebound guy? Can't he be more? Perhaps. If Isla can take her fear out of the equation, and just let herself feel without restrictions like labels and definitions.

Friends to lovers can be tricky to write, but Stacy managed it well. Isla and Owen are such a great couple with an easy familiarity, even before they were a couple - sweet, fun and low angst. Isla drove me a bit bonkers with her denial of her feelings, but that's kind of to be expected considering her situation with her ex, but all in all, I liked this story.

Celebrity baker Isla Finley is trying to building up the courage to break up with her millionaire boyfriend, Tom Stone, but she just keeps putting it off because she doesn't want to deal with it but just when she's about to do it she finds out that he's been cheating on her. Rather than being angry with him she uses this as her reason to finally get out of the boring relationship that she's been in for over a year. When one of her regular customers, Owen, comes by to check on how she is doing after the break up she is shocked. Prior to that morning they had never really talk beyond witty bread banter, so for him to come check on her is a pleasant surprise. And while Owen is sweet, kind and handsome she isn't sure if she is ready for another relationship.
Boutique hotel owner Owen Miller has been coming to Isla's bakery for a while in part because he's in love with her sourdough bread but also because he feels this attraction to her. So when Owen finds out that she had been dating Tom Stone, the man who stole his last girlfriend, he can't help but sympathize with what she is going through. When he comes to check on her he understands her reluctance to him but the more they talk the more she begins to trust him and they slowly start to have a friends with benefit relationship and while Owen would love to be in a real relationship with Isla but he respects her desire to take it at her own pace and hopes she'll fall for him too.
As Owen and Isla's relationship begins to grow and they get closer to one another Isla has to contend with someone trying to ruin her business. And while Owen has offered to help financially Isla doesn't want to rely on him that way. When her ex keeps offering money to help her out Owen begins to worry that she will take Tom up on his offer and he'll be able to worm his way back into her life...

Oh my goodness.....Owen and Isla are absolute perfection!!!

We first met Isla in Second Chance at Us and we learned she is a bread maker. This story picks up pretty much after Becca's ended. Isla's bakery is thriving and the highlight of her day is making that bread every morning. It is also the highlight of Owen's day to stop in every morning even if they aren't open yet. Over the last year he has been frequenting her bakery almost every day and has become quite smitten with the local bread maker.

Isla has become accustomed to seeing Owen in her place of business and finally sits down and chats with him. It is in the middle of this chat that a tabloid story about her boyfriend she has been trying to break up with breaks and her attention gets torn away. When she looks over to see if Owen is still there, he is gone but lucky for her he pops back up later that evening.

The story that follows had me so addicted as in I couldn't stop reading. I wouldn't call it love at first sight but they are definitely meant for each other. While Isla is so adamant about putting a label on their relationship and calling it friends with benefits Owen knows she feels more and he sets out to make her see that they are so much more. Owen is a man who know who and what he wants and that is forever with Isla.

I have enjoyed the first two stories in this series and cannot wait for the rest. The bread maker profession was a nice change of pace from just a cafe owner or coffee shop owner. This wouldn't have been complete without the Finley siblings and their dinners.

I thoroughly enjoyed Isla and Owen's book. Believe me when I say it does not take long to get sucked into this story. This is a romance that delivers some major feels and as such, you can expect plenty of rich emotions as the storyline unfolds and this duo's relationship evolves. Some books you don't just read, you form a connection with them and for me this was exactly that kind of book (and I think it will be for many other readers as well). From an embarrassing scene, to a snap decision, to knowing what you want and discovering what you need, this book delivers a realism that is genuine and 100% relatable. This is my frank, freely posted review.

This was a sweet slow burn friends to lover’s romance that I couldn’t get enough of.
Isla is trying to get the nerve up to tell her boyfriend that she’s leaving him. Every time that she has wanted to do it in the past she didn’t want to because she didn’t want to have to deal with it. Then there happens to be the golden opportunity where she finds out that he is cheating on her and uses that to get out of her relationship.
Owen has been going to Isla’s bakery for quite some time now and because he has feelings for her and his love of sour dough bread. I thought that it was sweet that when she breaks up with her boyfriend and then he goes to her bakery and asks if she is ok.
Who knew that a kiss could change everything.

Another great book from Stacy!

A kiss can change everything.

Isla is a bakery owner with a fantastic reputation but she’s facing some stiff competition. She is determined to make her business succeed regardless of the roadblocks she’s running up against.

Owen is a successful business man and he loves his early morning visits to Isla’s bakery everyday! There is more to his daily visits...over time the truth is revealed. Owen also has the patience of a saint and a good heart.

Isla and Owen are friends first, a great support system for each other and become great partners.

I requested an arc and I am proving my honest review.

Isla is an artisan Baker and makes a unique bread that has people lined up outside her store. Owen is a local neighbor that stops by every morning to chat with Isla and grab some carbs before he starts his day. When Isla goes through a very public break-up with her current boyfriend, Owen is the friend that steps in. The two dance around each other - he clearly wants more, but she's nervous given her recent relationship fiasco and an attack on her bakery.

I have to say, I read and loved the first book because it was a great story, but it also took me back to my college days in Berkeley. This second story is as good as the first, and I'm completely invested as I was with the first book.

4 stars for Falling for You by Stacy Travis! We know a little about Isla from book 1 in this series, Second Chance at Us and it was great to get to read her story and get glimpses of of her big family again.

The first half of the book is mostly about Isla and how dedicated she is to her bakery business. I love that she is so sure of herself in that regard- in love, not so much. It takes a while for her to figure things out but Owen is a sweet guy and he is patient. We really don’t get to know Owen very well until the second half of the book and that is when the story really took off.

I hope to read many more books by this author!

OMG seriously? This was a wonderful book. So perfectly written.
I forgot how amazing this author is and wow she’s done it again.
Owen was just everything you’d ever want in a boyfriend / husband. He’s soft. Understanding. Rich. Beautiful and it’s all Isla needed to come out of her shell ( of course when she eventually realized that she had to).
Isla is just perfect for Owen. She’s sweet and loving. She’s been burned a few times but keeps getting back up.
These two have so much chemistry between them. It’s beautiful to read.
Loved ever bit of it!

My first book by this author and I very much enjoyed it. Isla and Owen were both engaging characters, but I honestly liked him a bit more. I felt she was either cavalier about his feelings for her or she was just plain blind. The part that intrigued me the most was her profession…I’ve never read a story with a bread baker as the MC…so much more interesting than a general chef/baker in that I learned a bit of science as I read!
I’ll be adding more of Stacy Travis’s books to my tbr list, as I enjoyed not only her characters but her storytelling in general.

"From now on, it’s true love or bust.”

Isla and Owen, their friends to lovers story was so good. After reading the first book in the series I wondered how book two would be. Book two is so much better than book one. Isla has her reservations while Owen's just busy being the great guy waiting for to see sense.

I was looking forward to continuing this series and this did not disappoint! This book follows Isla and her bakery up against big corporation. Once again the sisters band together to help and support one another. Read the book in one sitting. These books finish too soon! Easy read and it left me with a warm fuzzy feeling. Can’t wait to read the rest of the sisters books in this series. 🥰

I have to say that I enjoyed this second book as much as the first in the series. Owen is a fantastic book boyfriend. A self made billionaire, sweet, thoughtful and dedicated.
Ilsa is also a self made success with her bakery that Owen visits daily ( for her). When she is publicly betrayed a kiss provides the opportunity that Owen has been waiting for.
I loved how these friends developed into so much more. Their dates were fun. They were mature, realistic and entertaining.

I loved the story between Isla and Owen. This is a real good read, just typical that the book comes into my kindle and I have lots of work to do. I just wanted to sit and keep reading.
I couldn’t put the book down.
Falling for you is about Isla and the mystery customer who sits in her bakery every morning before it’s opened watching her bake the amazing sourdough bread.
Owen has had his fair share of bad relationships and family issues.
But they didn’t realise the chemistry between each other and its electrifying.

I really didn’t want the story to end and was addicted from beginning to end.
August seems to far away for the next book.
If you want to escape real life for a few hours then get your nose into this book. It’s definitely worth a read.
