The Kingston Family #3

Just One Chance

Rate this book
He thought she was the one…until she walked away. Now she’s back and he wants her more than ever.

As a former Marine, Xander Kingston’s writing keeps him sane. Bonus? His thrillers made him one of Hollywood’s most desired screenwriters—and also introduced him to a fledgling starlet who broke his heart. With his close-knit family in New York, Xander returned home and found peace. Until Sasha Keaton shows up at his Hamptons retreat. Now an A-Lister, she’s as beautiful as he remembers. And just as dangerous to his heart.

Sasha learned from watching her mother to never sacrifice her dreams for anyone—only to discover how empty life could be without the man she loved. Now cast in Xander’s latest movie, she needs his insight to play the part, but secretly hopes for a second chance.

Xander has built emotional walls to keep Sasha at a distance, but their physical attraction can’t be denied. When a stalker’s threats intensify, Xander moves Sasha into his house to keep her safe. Before long she's back in his bed and making inroads in his life.

But when the danger passes and the movie wraps, Sasha and Xander face a familiar choice—put career first or give love a fighting chance.

This is a 2nd chance story of Sasha, an A-list Actress & Xander, a former Marines who is now a big shot Writer.

Five years prior, Sasha & Xander were in love & planning to spend forever with each other but Sasha was very young (18? 19?) and she had/has a controlling Mother & Agent who forced her in the past to focus & pursue her career over anything else (aka Xander) and unfortunately their romance came to an end.

When Xander left the marines, he had PSTD and it made it difficult for him to be around crowds or busy cities, so following Sasha on her movie shoots & watching her with fellow costars staging PR stunts to make them look as if they were a couple took a toll on him and he ended their relationship and came home to New York to live a more quiet life while she stayed in Hollywood and pursued her career. The split broke both their hearts and neither was able to move on or stop loving the other though.

Five years later, Xander’s book/script has turned into a movie and the producer/director has hired Sasha as the leading lady and he is not a happy camper. As for Sasha, she sees this as a second chance to make things right with Xander. She knows & regrets the fact she chose her career over him before but she is an adult now and feels that she can make her own choices and won't make the same mistake as last time when her Mother & Agent put pressure and she didn't know any better.

I’ll stop here because the rest of the story is about them talking things out and learning from their mistakes. They start to grow close but Sasha has a stalker on her hands and they also have to figure out whether or not they can be together since one lives in Hollywood and the limelight and the other in the Hamptons of Long Island far from the glitter & glamor.

And may I just say as a Long Islander myself, I totally agree with author about the 2 hour driving commute to the city and how tiring it is! I don’t know if author is from there but if you ask my family & most Long Islanders, they disagree and say it only takes them less than an hour driving. Even with no traffic & speeding (Yep… don’t judge me!) no way Jose can one make it under an hour from NYC to anywhere in Long Island – much less the Hamptons and vice versa! So thank you for proving me right to all those full of you-know-what Long Islanders! 😁

One of the best things that I loved about this story is that they were both CELIBATE for the entire 5 year separation! Hallelujah! 🤗👏🎈 How often does that happen in a 2nd chance romance? AND separation was only 5 yrs – not your typical 10+ years!! I would have read this just for that and nothing else, though I loved their story so I'm sure I will be re-reading it again!

BTW, I loved the side characters (his family) and their HEA (the proposal is swoon worthy!!) and heroine's best friend, Cassidy, whose story is next with Xander's brother Dash. I won't be reading that one because Dash is a major manwhore & apparently may have impregnated one of his ONS. Ugh! No way!

Xander's first reaction to finding out the woman who tore his heart out is to be cast as the lead in the movie based on his novel, is an emphatic HELL NO. But his agent is right, Sasha's right for the role, and he won't stand in the way. And he won't even have to interact with her if he doesn't want to. He won't be giving her a chance to break his heart yet again, of that he's certain...

Sasha knows it's a lot to ask when she shows up at Xander's home, wanting to get advice on the character she's about to bring to life. If the two of them could just be professional, not let the past get in the way, this movie will go off without a hitch. But what of her present? Will it get in the way or will it bring out Xander's dormant protective instincts, and his old feelings for her?

Just One Chance is the kind of second chance story I like most - enough angst and tension that it keeps me entertained, but not so much that it's overwhelming, hot chemistry, and two really likable characters who really deserve that second chance. Can't wait for more of the Kingston Family now.

And we have a great addition to the series!

I started this baby, was hooked immediately, and couldn’t (didn’t want to) stop (I did because that #workthing) because the need to see just how everything would work out for Xander and Sasha was strong and I wasn’t disappointed. It was sweet, fun, a little suspenseful and had just the right amount of angst to keep me totally invested until the very end.

I adored Sasha and Xander. She’s sweet, caring, driven and grateful for the life that she has, but she’s also at something of a crossroads and needs to figure out just where she wants her life to go. Xander may like to live his life on the quiet side of the coin, but he handles shake up’s pretty well and is always there for his family ~ even when they drive him crazy.

Their second chance journey could have gone all kinds of ways, but I’m really happy with how things went in this book. There was a bit of angst ~ hard not be considering their shared history ~ but the did up working through it and coming out stronger for it. The chemistry was there and their bantering was a lot of fun. The bumps in the road weren’t too crazy, though the stalker definitely sped things up, and though the main road block had me growling, I really liked how everything worked out for them in the end.

As I said at the start, this was a great read. The whole stalker situation was done well and I liked how it all played out. And as for the new supporting cast of characters. I adored Cassidy and Axel has definitely piqued my interest. And then there is the ever growing Kingston family, it was a lot of fun to catch up with Linc & Jordan and Beck & Chloe to see how their own HEA’s were progressing. I’m thoroughly enjoying watching Aurora getting used to being a “Kingston” and a mom all while coming into her own and then there is Dash...it don’t not like him, because he is a good guy, but man...I’ll just have to see how everything works out with him in the next book because he’s got lots going on.

I am loving this series and the Kingston men. We are finally on Xander's story. A retired marine that found his true calling in writing novels.
Sasha Keaton is a mega movie star but she also is Xander's ex. It did not end well but now The lovely and talented Sasha is chosen to star as the lead in the movie based on his novel. It may now be the second chance that she needs to let him know what they had was real. When a stalker is threatening the life of Sasha it may be time for Xander to man up and give her the protection that she deserves and leave their past in the rear view mirror.
This couple has smolder, spark, great banter and a wonderful group of supporting characters surrounding them! Loved it.

Fun and engaging romance
5 stars

I always enjoy a Carly Phillips romance. She always writes an engrossing story with a sexy, swoonworthy romance and an engaging cast of characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. Most of the time, as is the case with this book, we also get to see a family that’s really goal-worthy. That family is the Kingstons - and this is the 3rd book in their series. Previous characters do appear in this book and previous storylines are mentioned, but this book stands alone and comes complete with its own HEA.

Sasha is a Hollywood actress at the top of her career and a hot commodity. She’s fairly young (24) but very down to earth and I liked her immensely. From the way she handled her relationship with Xander the first time they were together, I expected to dislike her, or find her quite harsh, yet I completely understood her motivations then and how she had changed in the years since then. It’s nice to see a character that’s likeable, but also one that grows over time.

Similarly, Xander definitely grows over the space of the novel…and he’s also quick to apologise when wrong which is always a good thing in a hero. Apart from that, he’s a gruff, sometimes grumpy, super hot, former marine who admits that he was broken by his breakup with Sasha. His relationship with his dog, Bella, made him all the more book boyfriend perfect. He's a little bit older than Sasha but we don't ever hear by how much or how old he actually is. Not too much older than her, I don't think.

Xander and Sasha have an instant chemistry and the sex scenes in the story are HOT but still move the story - and the relationship and intimacy between our characters - along. The story was very absorbing and interesting - it was never a chore to pick up and read just one more chapter. It’s also a nice length at 212 pages that you can read fairly quickly.

This isn’t a complicated romance with Xander and Sasha reconnecting almost as soon as they meet up again. They then continue, with the understanding that their time together this time has a time limit. So the difficulty in the relationship doesn’t happen until their self-imposed time limit arrives. But don’t think that this makes the book dull - oh no. Alongside the relationship we also get the danger of a stalker that’s targeting Sasha, which adds an element of minor suspense to our story. It’s not overly scary, though, which is always a good thing for me the super wuss!

This story also teased the next book in the series where Dash Kingston meets his match - and I am there for it. Not only did we get a happy and satisfying ending and epilogue, but we get an exciting tidbit for Just One Spark. This was a fun and likeable story with great characters and the added extra of some minor tension. I enjoyed it immensely and won’t hesitate to give it 5 stars.

From the start of The Kingston Family series, I’ve been extremely intrigued by the reclusive brother Xander. He’s hidden himself away—away from the world and away from his family—due to the time spent in the Marines. He’s built quite a life as a best-selling author. And now having to share his space with the one woman he’s never forgotten or gotten over—the newly cast leading lady in the movie based on his book series--he’s realizing just what his life is missing. He’s missing someone to love and someone to share life’s ups and downs with.

Sasha Keaton never forgot Xander Kingston. Never forgot the love she had for him even though she left to make her mark on the world. She was bound and determined to be a star, but now that she has achieved her goal, she’s starting to realize that she’s missing out on living and she doesn’t want to spend her life overworked, overwrought, and lonely. Is working on Xander’s movie her chance to make things right with him and maybe a second chance at love?

Or will a stalker ruin everything?

Gah, I loved the emotions Xander and Sasha brought out in each other. Their electric connection and attraction was amazing. The depth and devotion that remained in their hearts for each other over their years apart added so much to their current situation. I couldn’t wait to see how they’d work their way back to each other—to move past the choices they made so many years ago—and work on building their relationship in the here and now.

I love second-chance romance and Just One Chance is an amazing example! It’s an emotional, smart, sexy, sweet, intriguing read that will leave you on the edge of your seat as the danger surrounding the stalker intensifies. Get ready to read in one sitting! ~ Missy, 5 stars

I loved reading about these two characters who are given a second chance at love. Screenwriter Xander Kingston’s screenplay is being turned in to movie and they are looking for the perfect leading lady. Hollywood’s It Girl Sasha Keaton has been cast in the role. These two have a past and haven’t seen each other in years. When they are together the chemistry between them is electric. Sasha starts receiving letters that are very creepy, so Xander takes the lead and provides security for her, as well as moving her in to his home. They soon realize that maybe what they have is worth giving it another chance. I really loved everything about this story, especially how Xander and Sasha try to fight their feelings. Really love seeing the rest of the Kingston family. Looking forward to Dash’s story.

Just One Chance is book 3 in the Kingston Family series by Carly Phillips, each story gets better. Love this family!!

Up next is Xander Kingston, former military, now best selling author and has become the most desired screenwriter, met the love of his life Sasha Keaton until she chose her acting career over him. Now that he’s ready to produce his next book the leading actress is none other then Sasha..

Can he keep his heart under wraps, work with Sasha to get into character and finally put their relationship to rest or will they find that sometimes life offers you a second chance at a HEA…only time will tell…

Finally, we get Xander's story. His story is one I've been anticipating for. And it was worth the wait. It was fast-paced and Sasha's stalker situation made it very captivating. I couldn't put it down also because I want to see just how long Xander could deny their chemistry, attraction, and love for each other. Will Sasha's career act as another complication to them getting their second chance?

I definitely loved their second chance.

Second chances are the most important loves but only if the two people involved take the time and give the effort to make that chance worth every moment. I loved seeing Carly Phillips take on this second chance at love and giving Xander and Sasha the ability to find one another again. This series has led us into some seriously intense emotional issues, from best friends having one night stands, to jilted brides falling into love with unexpected foes, to now a former flame coming back with the potential to reshatter a barely healed heart. Carly gives her all in each and every one of her stories, making her readers feel the pain and turmoil right alongside her characters and this story was certainly no exception. Every second had me in tears and anticipating what would happen next and knowing that Xander and Sasha has such a limited time period to find their way to peace and a long-lasting HEA made the story all the more intense. Xander never thought he’d have to face such close quarters with the woman that broke his heart years ago, but when Sasha is cast as the heroine in the movie adaptation of his latest novel his worst fears come true. Faced with having to see him every day, Sasha on the other hand is both terrified and thrilled to be in Xander’s orbit again and is determined to make the best of each moment, even when he’s being an ass. When a dangerous stalker puts Sasha in his sights, Xander knows that he is the best man to keep her safe, even if the chemistry between them is too much to resist. But even though the danger is escalating, the passion between them and the connection is quickly becoming more than either of them ever imagined they could have again. Now if they can just stay safe long enough to have a chance at a future.

Xander has grown up a lot since the first time he attempted a relationship with Sasha and though he still feels the pain of her loss, it’s obvious that he knows himself much better now. The problem is that men, even enlightened ones, can still be boneheads when it comes to relationships, which Xander proves quickly with his behavior toward Sasha. His caveman mentality of taking over her life, albeit for her safety, could be considered sexy but he also has to give Sasha the chance to be the smart and independent woman she has become in the years they were apart. Sasha has matured even more than Xander, because without the man she loved by her side she had no reason not to devote 100% of her time to her professional goals. She has spent all her time expanding on her career and she is exhausted, but having another chance with the man she loves is the best opportunity of her life and she will not give it up, even knowing heartbreak is at the end. I loved getting to know her more and see how sweet and loving she was with Xander and how smart and dedicated she was. She seems to be the perfect match for him in every way, even standing up to his alpha overprotectiveness several times so he knows she won’t let him walk all over her. The fiery passion between these two burned from the very first moment they crossed paths again and I loved seeing them embrace it and find a way back into one another's arms, as it’s obvious they never stopped loving one another. I am dying to find out what happens in the next story between Xander’s brother Dash and Sasha’s best friend Cassidy as we got some serious hints and sneak peaks in this story, but just enough to whet my appetite and make the waiting game painful. As usual Carly has hit another homerun and left me with the lasting love story of two people that were meant to be together finally getting Just One Chance (again) at their HEA.

I am loving this series and was intrigued by the elusive Xander Kingsley. Well, his story is excellent, and you will fall in love with him as I did. Sasha brings out the protector in Xander, and their second chance story is a hard book to put down. You also get some suspense, angst, and a whole bunch of his family. Is this the right time for Sasha and Xander, or will careers get in the way?

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Although interesting, I expected Xander and Sasha to clash a little more intensely, after her "dumping" him 5 years ago.

Expected some dynamite exploding, between these two, but instead it was a little fizzle of a sparkler before it burns completely out.

Tad bit disappointing!

Second book today that ended with a cliffhanger!! I love second chance romances. She's an actress that had chosen her career over a relationship with him years ago. He just wants a peaceful existence due to his PTSD from Afghanistan. He is now an author who's book is being made into a movie. She is the actress playing the female love interest. She wants to bury the past and move forward so she confronts him to work past it. They agree for the sake of their working relationship.

Just before filming starts, a stalker emerges and threatens her and he takes it upon himself to be her knight in shining armor. Sparks fly from the moment they are together until the very end. It was a great addition with the stalker. It added a lot of suspense, although you kinda figure out who it is very early on. Still made for a great story.

Off-the-charts chemistry and a complicated history made Just One Chance an unputdownable romance. But what else would readers expect from a Carly Phillips novel, right?

I stand by my statement from when I read and reviewed Carly Phillips’ first book in the Kingston series, Just One Night: she is the Queen of (Hunky) Alphas. Because if I thought the eldest Kingston brother, Linc, was sexy…wow. Then along came Xander. He had a lot going for him–aside from being hunky. (lol) He was in the Marines, then became a hugely successful thriller writer with his books soon made into blockbuster films, and Xander adored his siblings and mother... Read More

RATING: 4.5/5

Carly Phillips brings out the mystery and thriller to her latest release. As the third book in The Kingston Family, Just Once Chance is a second chance romance that will leave you swooning and rooting for the characters until the very end.

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Xander Kingston, a sought after author whose thriller books have become major Hollywood hits. But it’s when one of his works is about to start filming soon that his leading actress backs out at the last minute and the studio has to find someone else on short notice. Xander wasn’t expecting to hear that the studio’s replacement was going to be non other than Sasha Keaton. He doesn’t want the woman who’d put her career over their relationship and the one who broke his heart to be in his movie. Yet, he has no other choice as Sasha’s career has made her very famous. He vows to be professional and that’s it. Everything changes the minute she shows up at his Hamptons’ doorstep hoping to clear the air between them. There is a part of him that he will always care about her and that grows more the moment they find out that she has a stalker and threatens her safety. This brings them closer than ever and Xander wonders if they can truly be together.

Sasha Keaton’s raise to fame was rather fast, she was just nineteen when she got a taste of been in the spotlight that completely changed her life. Having met Alexander at a party, they were perfect for each other, but he was ready for a relationship and she wasn’t. There were goals that she wanted to achieve and that lead to her making choices that hurt Alexander as well as their relationship in the process. Now he is a very successful author and she is an A-lister. But when she gets offered the part of a leading role in the movie, Sasha knows that she needs to make things right with Xander as they will be spending a lot of time together. Deep down she also knows that she still has feelings for him and hopes that he gives her another chance. Little did she know that a stalker threat was going to ultimately decide their future together.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Just One Chance, the storyline felt unique to the series and it was mysterious as well. Both of the characters are brought together years after the way their relationship ended. They were each starting their careers, but Sasha was more motivated to keep up with her goals especially after having her mother constantly remind her of her future. On the other hand, Xander grew up with a father who had been a serial cheater and when his mom did nothing to stop it, Xander vowed to not be the same way. He can’t be a low priority and that’s exactly what ended his relationship with Sasha. But he doesn’t resent her and when she is in danger, he is ready to help her out no matter what. Both of them will have to learn to compromise if they want a shot at a relationship. I loved seeing characters from previous books make cameos and the ending was sweet. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series! :)

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided to me. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a perfect second chance romance with a touch of suspense.

Xander Kingston served his country for four years and came home wanting to do something different from the rest of his siblings. He decided to write stories which in turn became big-screen motion picture movies. A few years ago, he fell in love with Sasha when she was starting her acting career. Having fallen for her hard, he wasn’t prepared for the heartache that would come when she ended it and why she ended it.

Sasha Keaton ended her relationship with Xander years ago so she could concentrate on her blooming career. However, she never did imagine that they would be working together on one of his movies. Now that she is, she knows the air needs to be cleared if they will work together. However, talking to Xander means the risk of falling for him again. Though someone starts stalking her, she wonders if there will ever be a time she doesn’t have to look over her shoulder.

Oh, this book was perfect! I needed a slightly grumpy alpha writer to come into my fiction-loving heart. Xander, you are perfectly flawed, and I understand how you were raised with cheating no good father would hinder your idea of a perfect relationship. Sasha needed time to grow up and stand on her own two feet to tell her mother no and stand her ground about it. The fire that burned between these two was very HOT! I loved the push and pull from beginning to end. Of course, Carly had to end the book with a bang for the next one, and holy cannoli, the next one will be just as amazing and hot. I am fanning myself as I type this. Those Kingston siblings are something else!

This is a second chance love story that is so touching. I think Sasha and Xander’s hearts were broken when they broke up the first time. It is wonderful what maturity and time can do to help people see mistakes clearer. Xander can’t believe that Sasha was hired to be the leading lady of his book turned into a movie. I know he was so upset as his heart is still broken from when the split four years ago. The crazy thing was that Sasha’s heart was broken too, but she was younger when they were together, starting her acting career, and letting her mother and manage influence her too much. I was glad to see that Sasha took the bull by the horns to try and get her and Xander’s past talked out before they started working together. Unfortunately Sasha has a stalker after her and needs security at all times. It got pretty scary at times. I loved her best friend who worked for her and was always there for her. Ms. Phillips does an excellent job of brining the love between Sasha and Xander out that it just jumped off the page and I could feel it. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Xander and Sasha's story is steamy and fast-paced. I enjoyed the suspense in this book and it was over before I wanted it to be. This was really 4.5 stars for me. And I'm excited for Dash's book!

Xander Kingston, former Marine, keeps to himself for the most part immersing himself in his writing. Something that has made him one of Hollywood's most desired screenwriters. This introduced him to an up-and-coming actress, who he was sure was the one. Until she broke his heart.
He's found some sort of peace living close to his family in New York. But that's about to be shattered now that Sasha is about to star in his latest movie.

Sasha plans to seek Xander out before filming starts in order to get some insight into her character. But she's also hoping for a second chance. Their first time around she thought it best to follow the advice of her mother and agent. But she's realizing that despite her success her life feels empty, especially without Xander.

Xander tries to keep his distance at first but their attraction cannot be denied. And when they learn that she has a stalker who is ramping up his threats, Xander moves Sasha into his house to keep her safe. And in his bed.

Before it's all over they're faced with the same dilemma. But are they willing to fight for their love?

This may be my favorite Kingston Family book so far. Fast paced and well written, Sasha and Xander manage to be introspective without being overly dramatic or self-centered. When they meet again and discover they still have amazing chemistry, it turns out maybe the first time was a case of right person, wrong time. They hurt each other the first time, but maybe being older and wiser means they can learn from mistakes and make better choices this time around.

I love how grounded Sasha is- for being a now famous actress she still tries to be friendly and down to earth, be easy to work with, give back to the community, and focus on what makes her happy instead of taking the next big, money making role. Xander knows what works for him after returning from Afghanistan and has learned not to fake it or apologize for his coping mechanisms. Both are well written and well rounded people, especially because they aren't perfect. They have things that set them off, they jump to conclusions, they make mistakes.

Sizzling chemistry and excellent characters make this my favorite of the series so far

A wonderful Second Chance Romance!

Xander and Sasha met while she was a very young woman just starting out in her acting career. To say that she had a lot of growing up to do would be an understatement. She had so many people telling her what to do and how to act that she was struggling with what to do. Xander and her just weren’t meant to be together with all that going on at that time. Now fast forward a few years and we see that Sasha has grown into a beautiful actress and one that is getting lots of attention. She is now staring in the movie based on Xander’s book. He is not happy about this at all, but somehow these two were able to put all the issues they had in the past behind them and move forward. The chemistry that these two had in the beginning is still there and burning as hot as ever. It was beautiful to see these two form a relationship and build on that and grow their respect and love for each other. This is a wonderful story and one you won’t be able to put down once you start to read it.

This is the third book in the Kingston Family series, but it can be read as a standalone. It is written in third person from an alternating dual POV.
Xander and Sasha were together before. Choices were made, trust was not strong, and their relationship did not survive. Now, Sasha has been cast in the movie adaptation of Xander’s book and she needs his input to do her job well. Neither one wants to be hurt again, but they cannot stay away from each other.
I love the passion and the tenderness between them. I adore Xander’s protective instincts regarding Sasha. I love the maturity that Sasha has gained in the time they have been apart and that Xander recognizes how much she has grown up. I love that she is now able to stand up for herself. I really enjoyed reading as they find their way back to each other, determine where they are willing to compromise, and understand what they each need to be happy. Their story made me happy and warm inside and I couldn’t put it down.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

Well, I guess I am committed now, I really didn’t expect to stick with this series after my disappointment with the first book, but each sibling has a good story, so far. These novels are short enough to read in an evening or two (just under 300 pages) and so far, the writing has gotten better with each one. This novel was better than the first, but not as good as the second. I am hesitant to start the 4th but at the same time, I feel like I need to finish reading about each sibling. Dash is next, and the rock star life, brothers finance best friend, and an alleged baby out there…should be interesting enough.

As far as this novel, Xander and Sasha rekindling was nice, I am glad it worked out for Xander, that grumpy brother needed some love. Sasha sticking up for herself and finding that fame may not be all worth it and choosing to slow down but create an alternate career choice was nice too. I do feel like 24 was a little young for this character, but I guess if she has been in the business all her life, maybe being burnt out at 24 is valid.

Just One Chance by Carly Phillips is book 3 in The Kingston Family series and the first I read. I enjoyed reading it and did not feel lost, though I am now excited to go back and read the two previous books in the series. In this one, we have a second chance romance between Xander and Sasha. Xander served in the military and suffers from PTSD. He lives a quiet life close to his family and that keeps him happy. Sasha has always been driven and determined, much to her mother’s happiness. Her one goal was to become a Hollywood star. But in the end that drive broke Xander and Sasha apart years ago. When they met the spark between them was strong, but the wants and needs of the other did not mesh with what the other needed.

Now years later Sasha is set to star in one of the movies based on Xander’s books. He wants nothing to do with the woman who broke his heart. But she is back and starring in his movie no matter what he wants. When they come face to face again, the chemistry and desire is still there, but nothing can come if it, right? Maybe if they keep things light and fun until the movie wraps, they can walk away as friends this time. Easy, right?

Xander is strong, caring, and protective. Sasha is very driven and determined, but has she truly ever chased what she wanted? Maybe it’s time she does. When Sasha is threatened, all of Xander’s protective instincts come out. Is this their second chance or the final goodbye? I loved Just Once Chance by Carly Phillips. It was sweet, a bit angsty and had so many feels.

Happy reading!

I loved this second chance story with a little suspense thrown into the mix. Zander and Sasha had some history they had to get past but that did not stop their undeniable attraction to each other. I enjoyed watching these two work out their issues and also realize that they have both changed over time. What hasn’t changed is how hot they were for each other and their sexy times scorched the pages. I loved how protective Zander was when he heard about her stalker situation and his actions showed how much he still loved Sasha. I liked how Sasha handled herself when coming face to face with Zander again and how she thought things through on what she wanted for her future. I loved seeing the Kingston family again and meeting Cassidy and Axel. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series after that epilogue.

5 Star Review Just One Chance (The Kingston Family #3) by Carly Phillips

I loved this story, from the first chapter to the last and cannot wait to read more in the series. Just One Chance is Xander Kingston and Sasha Keaton’s second chance at love story and one that ticked all the boxes for me.

Xander and Sasha have history and it did not end well. Now she is set to star in his latest screenplay and is back in Xander’s life. Complications quickly arise when they both realize that the attraction is just as intense as it once was.

When danger’s rears it’s head Xander is determined to keep Sasha safe. What will happen when the danger is resolved and the movie finished?

Will Xander and Sasha be prepared to fight for love this time or will they walk away for good?

One click and find out.

The Kingston family is one feisty group. Xander is the famous author of the family. His books are being made into movies and the women that broke his heart is going to play the lead. Sasha worked her butt off to be the actress she is today. She even broke the heart of the man she loved more than anything. It’s bad enough Sasha and Xander have to work together but now Sasha is getting threatening messages. Who is after her? Xander will stop at nothing to protect her. Will this bring the spark back that was once there? This was a great quick read that was a great addition to this series. This family is loyal, funny and extremely entertaining. I love the banter between the brothers and look forward to seeing what happens next in this series. I love How much information get unraveled with each book.

This is all about Xander, the third Kingston sibling. A writer by trade he is due to get his book made into a movie. all is well until he finds out who the lead is........his ex from long ago......Sasha. Now an actress and staring in her ex's movie, she needs to clear the air. But as time goes on they either have the chemistry but they don't want a relationship. I love this series. I could understand why Xander is the way he is, especially when Sasha broke up with him the first time. The i could see his way the next time when he walked out before he was broken again. A great book and i cant wait for Dash's book.

This was just okay for me. Based on the synopsis, I expected a whole lot of tension between Sasha and Xander. Once the stalker makes an appearance though, Xander does a 180 and all of a sudden they're stuck like glue and it seems the past tensions are gone. Sure, there's still the fact that Sasha is an actress and that means she's traveling everywhere, and Xander of course is a homebody. But it doesn't come into play until the very end really. There was romance in this one, which I appreciated. The only real drama was with the stalker, otherwise I felt this one was light on the angst between Sasha and Xander (and his family).

The last person Xander wanted in the female role of the movie created from one of his books would be Sasha - the one woman walked away from him and put her career first. But the career she wanted is not going in the direction she wants when a stalker is out to get her. Will Xander put his hurt feelings aside and bring Sasha back into his live to make sure she stays safe or will the past be too much to overcome? I have absolutely loved the Kingston family stories and once again Carly Phillips brings the reader into the center of the family dynamic with a heartwarming storyline. Cannot wait to see where she will go next with this group.
