Division In Atiku Campaign As Ekweremadu Stays Away by thebiggestgists(m): 1:20am On Jan 13, 2019
There are reported divisions in the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential campaign as associates and supporters of the Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, appear to be taking a back seat in the campaign process.

Earlier, the PDP had denied an earlier reported statement attributed to the Buhari Media Organisation that Ekweremadu and South-East governors were working for the success of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election.

But an associate of Ekweremadu, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity over the issue on Friday, said the Deputy Senate President deliberately stayed away from the campaign of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The source said Ekweremadu would not dissipate energy on a project that he was not considered worthy of playing any major role.

The source added, “The Deputy Senate President was not given any specific assignment in the Atiku Presidential Campaign Council, which I think is wrong. It is not proper that the PDP did not assign any national role to him in its presidential campaign.

“Ekweremadu was not even carried along when the PDP Presidential Campaign Council was constituted; he had no input at all. He also learnt of the composition, like other Nigerians, through the media. If Ekweremadu had not remained in the party, I doubt whether there would be any PDP to return to after the Supreme Court verdict that sacked the erstwhile national executive.

“It is wrong to say that he should campaign alongside his principal who is the director-general of the campaign council (Dr Saraki). In any case, Ekweremadu was in Gombe State to campaign for Atiku. He is currently concentrating on the South-East, which is his own constituency. He is specifically focusing on how to deliver the South-East region.”

The source added that it was wrong to insinuate that the South-East governors were not involved actively in the PDP presidential campaigns because they felt Ekweremadu had been sidelined.

He said, “The truth of the matter is that the governors are also focusing on their own re-election. They will definitely show their power when the campaigns move to the South-East region.

“Is it when the governors take flights to Sokoto and Bauchi for campaign rallies that will show Nigerians that they are working for Atiku?”

Attempts to speak with Ekweremadu on the issue failed as of the time of filing this report. His Special Adviser on Media, Uche Anichukwu, had yet to respond to a text message sent to him.

But the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, on Saturday, said Ekweremadu was not being sidelined by the party.

He said the senator was active in the party’s structure and the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

Ologbondiyan said, “No cracks in the PDP. This is misinformation being peddled by the already rejected APC and its presidential candidate. They are seeking a way of creating voter apathy and giving the impression that we are not working together in the PDP.

“We want to say that all is very well with the PDP. I just left the venue of a rally of our party in Plateau State. It was a grand rally and the whole city was emptied into the stadium.”

Na the highlighted be the koko joor!
Why was he not given any specific "assignment" from which he can at least make some dollars from atiku?
Now that atiku has finished sharing all the "assignments", what do they want Ekwerenmadu to do again? undecided

Lies from the pit of hell

Ekweremadu has always been to northern campaigns with the pDP ..

We know he wanted the VP position but his feelings are inconsequential because the whole of South East is Atikulated already ... And there is nothing anybody can do about it... Ekweremadu has no power to sway his family into voting another candidate Let alone his street .

You don't need a soothsayer to tell the failure of PDP in the coming elections.

Northwest with 7 states have 6 APC governed states and 1 PDP governed state, while Southwest with 6 states have 6 APC governed states. Therefore, both regions with 13 states have 12 APC governed states and one PDP governed state.
Notheast have 6 states with 4 APC governed states, including the state of the other candidate being governed by the APC and 2 PDP governed states. Then, the south east with 5 states have 1 APC governed states, 1 APGA governed states (openly rooting for APC) and 3 lukewarm PDP governed states.
In a nutshell, Northwest and Southwest have a 12 APC states and 1 PDP state; while northeast and southeast have 5 APC states, 1 APGA state and 5 PDP dormant states.
In both regions, out of the 24 states, APC have 17 States with one APGA state supporting them. And the PDP have 6 dormant PDP states.
With the simple analysis I presented above, I, Chijioke Paul Okeifufe, hereby concludes that there is absolutely no hope for the PDP in the forthcoming presidential election. Those hoping for Atiku to win are just dreaming.

This is a blessing in disguise if it is true. I would even prefer he decamps to APC before the elections as this will greatly usher in a fresh and more accommodating political atmosphere in his senatorial zone.

Pdp better sit tight and get their acts together, this is their last chance for survival,if they lose this election, that is the end of pdp for life .
Atiku and his team should not think that social media stories wins elections in Nigeria, despite the fact that atiku has contested and won elections in the past and has overseen campaigns he should know that he needs to bring everyone on board now ,he needs all the support he can get. If he feels that he can do it alone and sideline some people then he is mistaken , surely he knows there are buhari moles within his camp and he is guarding against their effect but still he must carry ppl along ,he has no choice

Punch newspaper is the most bias newspaper. They proved this in 2015 elections. Supporting Buhari. So am not surprised.

It's so sad that the fourth estate of the realm (press) is not neutral anymore and the ones who are neutral are indicted or attacked by the government forces.

As for me and my family the hardship is too much. Those ones shouting sai baba are poor but feel that the rich are also affected. Let me shock u. The rich are only affected but their bank is still fat.

Those shouting sai baba have parents who stand daily under sun and feel the impact.

The worst and painful thing some people get paid while others who don't get paid think the paid ones love sai baba.

Lets have sense. Vote sowore if you hate atiku not buhari I beg.
