This Year End, Let's Invest In Brighter Futures!

Aanchal and her classmates participating in a singing activity at the Chrimatekari Siksha Protsahan Kendra
In the deep heart of Madhya Pradesh, India is a place called Chirmatekari, where Aanchal lives. Aanchal's father works as a farm watchman, which wrestles him away from his home. Her 4 older sisters work as wage laborers to support the family financially and a fifth sister is in 10th grade. When Aanchal was barely 6 years old, her mother passed away, setting her life completely adrift. There was no one to ensure that she showed up at school and continued her life on the basis of any some regularity. Her attendance at her school become very sporadic and she retracted from the world- becoming shy, introverted and unable to make any real progress in her reading or writing skills for over a year. Luckily, her teachers at the Eklavya supported school weren't about to give up. They doggedly urged Aanchal's older sisters to make an effort to ensure Aanchal's attendance in school. They did baseline tests on Aanchal's reading and math competencies to identify gaps in her learning. They laid out a learning pathway for Aanchal using specially designed curriculum that tackled these gaps. Within a year, Aanchal showed very heartening progress and is now on level with both Reading and Math. Today, due to this intervention, Aanchal is in fourth grade and is a confident young girl who is developing strong academic skills to succeed in life.

Eklavya project is a Government school strengthening initiative at Shahpur Block, Betul District, Madhya Pradesh. Through Siksha Protsahan Kendras (SPK) they work to improve the quality of education and learning levels of children in the age group of 6-10 years. Training is imparted to the government school teachers to make them more effective in their work by using innovative teaching learning technology. Vibha and Eklavya Foundation worked as partners from 2014, as on today they have made a difference to 10000+ children in 30 government schools and 27 Shiksha Protsahan Kendras.

It takes $20 per year to address the needs of children like Anchal through Eklavya’s SPK’s and our goal in 2019 is to make a difference in the lives of 500 more kids by raising $10,000 through this campaign. One anonymous donor has come forward to match the donations up to a total of $5000 made before this Sunday (12/30).

If you are still looking to give this year, we request you to consider giving it to Vibha and help us win this last matching campaign of the year with your tax-deductible donation today!I

Happy Holidays and Thank You!
