A little-known smartphone game, Party.io has become a sudden hit on mainland China after videos of users playing the game became popular on short-form video
platform TikTok.

In Party.io, players control a playdough-like figure that can grab opponents and throw them off the chosen arena. These arenas come in different forms, from floating houses, to hot air balloons, to a birthday cake.
The last player standing wins.

Parents may worry about China's social media app Tik Tok, but it’s far from a waste of time

The figures fight and fall in very strange ways. They grow bigger if they can score high. They score by having a high number of “kills”.

The key to playing the game is using the symbol for infinity. Players need to draw the symbol on their phone, and tap the screen at the same time to direct their avatars.

At the moment, players can only compete against computer-controlled characters, but that might change in the future. The videos on TikTok are so popular, they can get thousands of likes in a very short amount of time.
