The state’s arrears to the private sector receded in April 2021, although still at levels of roughly 400-million-euros above the div for January 2021.

The increase in arrears for the current year was cited in the Commission’s most recent – 10th – review of the Greek economy and finances, with the government promising to significantly reduce arrears by the end of the year.

According to finance ministry divs, the general government’s arrears to the private sector dropped to 1.745 billion in April 2021, from 1.922 billion euros in March 2021.

Utilities’ arrears dropped to 220 million euros from 244 million euros; 454 million euros from 526 million euros in arrears were reported by pension funds; and 818 million euros from 893 million euros in March 2021 by public hospitals
