On #EarthDay today I wanted to share Hyundai Motor Group's “Progress for Humanity” vision, which is a roadmap to sustainable mobility solutions. We have a compelling vision for smart cities where people and goods can move more efficiently through advanced air mobility, autonomous cars and purpose built vehicles, all powered sustainably via batteries or hydrogen fuel cells.   We have a vision where automation and robots can make our lives easier, where exoskeleton devices can help paralyzed people walk again. We have a vision for sustainable, green cities where large natural areas are preserved. Where recreational forests, parks, and reservoirs provide access to water. Where cities are carbon neutral, powered by hydrogen fuel cell generators and distributed through smart grid pipelines to power buildings. Our ambition is for humankind to live with nature while embracing technology. Our air and ground mobility solutions will redefine urban boundaries, connect people in meaningful ways, and revitalize cities. Hyundai Motor Group not only has this incredible vision. But we also have the resources to bring it to life. All of us at Hyundai feel a great responsibility to contribute to a sustainable future in which all humankind can live safely and healthily while enjoying freedom of movement. Congratulations to Justin Smith and the Semafor team for a very successful World Economy Summit coinciding with The World Bank and International Monetary Fund meetings this week in Washington D.C. Given the caliber of speakers and attendees, I’m sure it is destined to be “the Davos of D.C.” Justin and I kicked off the mobility panel and had a wide ranging discussion about Hyundai Motor Group, the growth of our brands, the transition to electrification and our investments and economic impact in the U.S. I was also very happy to see David Rubenstein, Hank Paulson, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, John Bozzella, Ed Luce, Jeff Farrah, Ambassador John Negroponte, Rich Lesser, Steven Rattner and so many other officials and business leaders. Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) and Genesis were very pleased to join so many other leading companies as founding partners of the Semafor World Economy Summit, including: Amazon, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Verizon and Bank of America. It’s a great time to be with Hyundai!

Congratulations to Jeff Rosen and on the 35th anniversary of Rosen Automotive Group and opening of the Rosen Hyundai Greenfield facility.   The new Rosen Hyundai Greenfield showroom is among 400 new Hyundai Motor America showrooms opening up across the country at an average of two per week. We are well on our way to having 75% of the network upgrading their facilities to what we call GDSI 2.0.   I’ve known Jeff for many years, and I can tell you he is the ideal dealer partner. He is a great ambassador for our brand, his customer service is exceptional, and he is a pillar in his community. Jeff’s $6 million expansion includes doubling the number of service bays, which means more efficiency and reduced waiting times for customers. In line with the growing demand for EVs, Rosen Hyundai Greenfield now offers four, level 2 EV chargers and two, level 3 fast EV chargers powered by ChargePoint. Jeff and his team recently donated $100,000 to the CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF WISCONSIN CLINICS-VERNON HILLS in the name of Hyundai Hope On Wheels, our philanthropic initiative to help fight pediatric cancer. You can see one of our ambassadors putting their handprint on a Hope On Wheels vehicle in the photo. This generous donation is part of $26 million Hyundai and our dealer partners have allocated to Hyundai Hope On Wheels this year on it’s 26th anniversary. Together we’ve donated more than $250 million to this cause and have helped treat and save more than 20,000 children. Thanks to our Hope On Wheels ambassadors and the entire team for a great event: Robert Grafton, Szymon Walus, Bob Kim, Tia Marie Battle, MBA, Fred DePerez, Marcelo Brutti, Andrew Leone, MBA, MS, Ed.D and many others. Every time I conduct a review at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA) in Georgia, I’m inspired by the incredible progress and excited to begin shipping EVs to our dealers and customers in Q4. We believe EVs are the future of personal transportation. It’s not a question of if, but when the EV transformation will take place. We understand not all customers are ready, which is why we continue to offer internal combustion engines, hybrids and plug in hybrids as well as EVs.   The reason Hyundai Motor Group is #3 globally in sales is that we are giving customers what they want – choices in powertrains and great vehicles. But we’re also showing them what’s possible with new products and features that help them drive safer and stay connected.   Before the car was introduced if you asked customers what they want, they would have said a faster horse. Under the leadership of our Executive Chair, we believe it’s our responsibility to show the world what is possible. Not only for EVs, but for autonomous vehicles, advanced air mobility, hydrogen, robots, smart cities and more.   Customers are rightly concerned about charging infrastructure. In the fourth quarter our customers will be able to access Tesla’s North America charging network. Together with six other automakers who comprise the IONNA charging network we are also building 30,000 ultra-fast charging stations and we’re also expanding home charging with Hyundai Home. We are investing $12.6 billion dollars in this new Metaplant and two battery JVs in Georgia, creating 40,000 direct and indirect jobs in America. A recent study showed that Hyundai Motor America's automotive operations contributed $20.1 billion and 190,000 jobs to the U.S. economy in 2021 alone. It’s gratifying that Hyundai is helping so many Americans realize the American dream. Thank you to the team at HMGMA, to the Office of Governor Brian P. Kemp , Pat Wilson, Trip Tollison and all our partners in Georgia for making it so easy to do business. It's a great time to be with Hyundai!

We are all looking forward to the solar eclipse in North America today.   There's nothing quite like a celestial event to remind us that we all share the earth and its resources. As Marshall McLuhan said, "There are no passengers on spaceship earth. We're all crew."   I’m proud to serve at Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) because of its compelling vision for a sustainable future.   Hyundai Motor Group is working toward carbon neutrality by 2045. The Company’s ‘Progress for Humanity’ vision represents our commitment to realizing emissions-free mobility not only as a good business practice, but as a fundamental human right.   We have the unwavering belief that we, as an automaker, have to be more active when responding to climate change than companies in other industries. Congratulations to Genesis Motor America and Hyundai Motor America for record sales in March and for Q1. Genesis Motor America had its 17th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth with 5,903 vehicles sold in March and its best-ever Q1 sales achievement with 14,777 in total sales. Hyundai Motor American reported record-breaking total March sales of 76,920 vehicles and a new Q1 record of 184,804 vehicles. EV sales for Hyundai increased 100% in March and 62% for Q1 compared to last year. Congratulations to Randy Parker, Claudia Marquez 🖤, their teams and our outstanding retail partners for continuing to drive sales records. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for my daughters. I know all parents feel the same. I can’t imagine what families go through when children get cancer. Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) is very proud of Hyundai Hope On Wheels (HHOW), our philanthropic initiative with our great dealer partners to eradicate pediatric cancer. This year is our 26th year of HHOW. So far we've helped more than 20,000 children fight and win the battle against cancer. I’m very pleased to announce that, together with our dealers, on the 26th anniversary of HHOW, we are donating $26 million to support this worthy cause. It total we’ve contributed more than $250 million for research and treatments for childhood cancer. I’m also happy to announce that due to the meaningful impact of this initiative, Hyundai will now expand HHOW to other markets globally. Thank you to our incredibly brave youth ambassadors and their families, to the HHOW’s team, to our Executive Chair Euisun Chung, Randy Parker, Kevin Reilly, HMC President and CEO Jay Chang, Gary Rome, Brandon Ramirez and to our dealer partners for your ongoing support to end childhood cancer! I’m very pleased to announce that Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차) continued our winning streak at the World Car Awards with the IONIQ 5 N high-performance EV earning the 2024 World Performance Car. This is the fourth major World Car Award for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 in the last three years. Today’s victory solidifies IONIQ 5 N’s position as a frontrunner in the market as it continues to outpace EV rivals with its outstanding high-performance technology. This recognition is a testament to Hyundai’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric performance and innovation. It is truly gratifying to see our efforts rewarded with a total of seven World Car Awards titles in the last three years. We are proud to continue our winning streak and solidify Hyundai’s position as a leader in the global EV industry.   It's a great time to be with Hyundai!

Thanks to Sara Eisen and Carl Quintanilla for having me on CNBC to talk about the vehicles we unveiled at The New York International Auto Show as well as our business.   Hyundai Motor Group is the third largest automaker in the world and the third largest in retail sales in the U.S. We’re also second in EV sales in the U.S. just after Tesla.   The reason our business is successful is because we are giving customers beautifully designed, safety focused, Eco Friendly vehicles with technology that they want and value.    Electric vehicles are the future of personal transportation.
