SYNOPSIS:

Blakely Foxx is having one of those years.

Her divorce may have been finalized a few months ago, but her ex is already engaged to someone half her age. Her younger boss is determined to sabotage her chance at getting the promotion she rightly deserves. And to make matters worse, she’s closing in on the big 4-0. There isn’t enough wine or ice cream in the world to convince her things will turn around.

When Blakely meets Slade Henderson, she’s left wondering why an early-thirties, hotter than hell, cardiothoracic surgeon would take an interest in her.

She’s been warned that he’ll break her heart, but she’s willing to take the chance. Not only is he helping her get that promotion, but in the process, he’s encouraging her to find the parts of herself she’s lost over the past few years.

Slade shows her that good guys really do exist, but who knew the hardest part about turning forty would be realizing the man you thought was a rebound, is actually your happily ever after?

REVIEW:

I’m all about light-hearted, fun and flirty reads these days, and K. Bromberg nailed all of that with Flirting With 40! This reverse age-gap romance with a fake relationship twist features a recently divorced almost-40-year-old heroine and a younger surgeon.

Blakely is newly divorced – with an ex who’s moved on to a much younger model – and is dealing with some workplace-related drama. As the blows keep coming, she struggles through all of it.  Her battles with her self-confidence issues made her all the more authentic and real and relatable to me. Slade, a cardiothoracic surgeon in his early thirties dealing with his own workplace issues, is currently on a bit of a forced sabbatical when he approaches Blakely in a bar. Their first meeting was anything but cute, but Slade was so persistent and charming that Blakely eventually warmed up to him.

I really loved Slade. He was so genuine in his interest in and pursuit of Blakely. He was consistently supportive and encouraging, and he really was the driving force behind not only Blakely’s personal evolution post-divorce but also her professional growth. Slade may have been handsome and sexy, but it was the way he handled Blakely that made him so completely swoon-worthy.

Flirting With 40 was an absolute pleasure to read. I was sucked right into this story from page one, and I barely lifted my eyes from my Kindle as I devoured this book. I loved every single second of Blakely and Slade’s sweet, sexy love story! Five smooches from me for Flirting With 40 by K. Bromberg!
