The Ohio State men’s golf team had three of its team members named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars Friday according to a release from the university. Will Grimmer, Will Voetsch, and Daniel Wetterich were all selected as outgoing seniors for their work both on and off the course.

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Three Buckeyes were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, announced by the GCAA on Wednesday. The trio of Will Grimmer, Will Voetsch, and Daniel Wetterich, all recently graduated seniors, received the honor for their outstanding work in the classroom and on the course.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. The three Ohio State representatives are part of a record 540 student athletes who earned the title of All-America Scholar.

Will Grimmer is now a two time All-America Scholar (2018, 19), three time Academic All-Big Ten (2017, 18, 19), and OSU Scholar-Athlete recipient (2017, 18, 19). He received his degree from Ohio State in communications in May and capped off his playing career at the NCAA Championships. Grimmer’s career 72.62 stroke average ranks third of all Ohio State golfers since 1980, and his 25 rounds in the 60s ranks first.

Will Voetsch earned his second All-America Scholar honors (2018, 19) to go along with his Academic All-Big Ten (2019), and OSU Scholar-Athlete honors (2018, 19). The recent graduate earned his degree from Ohio State in Finance after transferring from Rice University following his sophomore year. In two years with the Buckeyes, Voetsch made his mark, holding down the number four spot in the lineup and contributing 41.5 rounds to the team scores.

Daniel Wetterich also received his second All-America Scholar honors (2018, 19) to pair with two Academic All-Big Ten (2017, 19) and OSU Scholar-Athlete (2017, 19) nods. He excelled in the classroom, earning a finance degree from Ohio State, and on the course where he put together a stellar career. Wetterich started his career at Xavier University before transferring to Ohio State after one year. In his three years in the Scarlet and Gray, he engineered a 72.19 career stroke average, the best mark since 1980, by turning in three campaigns with a stroke average no higher than 72.33.

The decorated trio all received All-America Scholar honors last season as well, alongside Josh Wick, to give the Buckeyes three or more All-America Scholars in back to back years for the first time since the awards inception in 1982.
