Mr. Write

Rate this book
Once upon a time, there lived a best-selling author who wrote about the miracle of true love and finding your forever soul mate. And that was thanks to Elizabeth. His muse…his one and only…his soon to be ex-wife.

It’s been six months since the love of his life tore out his heart and set it on fire, and because of this, the “author” hasn’t written a single word—his mind is drier than the Sahara Desert.

That unfortunate fool? That’s me.

My name is Jayden Evans or, as my readers know me, J.E. Sparrow. I’m one of the world’s most adored authors, but now, the only thing beloved is a bottle of whiskey and the unspeakable nasties I somehow find myself in.

But this life of depravity is growing old fast. I need a change. And that comes when I meet Carrie Bell—the woman who stirs something in me I thought long dead.

From the moment we met, I knew she was different. Could she be the one to end this drought? I suppose there is only one way to find out.

Paris. Two strangers in the city of love. What can go wrong?

➳Flirting your way to the top is what Jayden must do to get what he wants, but when he meets Carrie, he knows that the tables have turn to a totally different level...

➳I was drawn in to wanting to read this novel because of the synopsis, and then we get this incredibly, delicious cover? I am all in y'all! And then once you start reading this comedic story, you know that you have made the correct choice. I was hesitant at first because new authors to me tend to always go sideways, but I am glad I did not miss out on this beauty. There are so many twist and turns that will have you questioning whether you should, but trust me when I say that you will not regret reading this beauty. The comedic side of Jayden and Carrie is one that had me laughing so hard sometimes, and then when the intimate scenes would come (no pun intended) the foreplay is the one thing that marks this novel as one of a kind. So make sure to get on the train ride that is Jayden and Carrie, their attraction and adoration towards each other, but also having that emotional connection is one that will have you drawn to the next page.

OK guys - I will put my whole review in a spoiler thingy - not because I'm spoiling anything (much), but because I'm kinda mean and weird about the book. I don't want to offend anyone or stop anyone from reading and loving the book. So ... please don't read my review if you want to enjoy the book or if you don't like people who complain a lot or if you're the author or ... better yet ... just don't read my review at all! ☺ I'm weird with so many things. Things I hate and dislike ... BUY THE BOOK AND READ IT - make up your own mind! I'm just here to tell you guys → MY VERY OWN HONEST OPINION. ☺♥

Ok - my little summary is ok to post without the spoiler thingy:

Jayden is a famous romance author. But ever since he left his cheating wife six months ago, he hasn't been able to write one word. He's suffering from writer's block - plus ... he's been busy screwing and drinking himself around town.

But now he met this perfect woman on a plane. She's inspired him from the second he first saw her.

Bla bla - some interesting but not at all surprising events later - Jayden and Carrie are in Paris to do some research for a new book idea they came up with.

And while researching romance in the most romantic city ever ... they fall for each other..... But of course his ex is not done with him and Carrie's family and past relationships might become problems too ...

═════════════════

description

Well, that was kinda adorable. A sweet mix of rom-com, second-chance, finding yourself again, travel & writing love story. I liked the idea of the book. The idea of this cheated-on author and the cute girl spending time in Paris. But

It wasn't a bad book - not that anyone can tell from my rant ^^^ - but please give it a chance - you should btw. always do that - even after you read one of my reviews. Because I know I'm very weird with what I like and hate! ☺ I liked this book and I liked the characters - especially the agent! He's hilarious! It just wasn't my day for this kind of story/writing/characters/research.
The cover is pretty and the blurb sounded cute too - I would definitely watch it if it turned up on my Netflix one day!!!

I love Monica James books and this one is no different. I was eager to read this one. I wanted a book with less drama and more romantic, but I gotta confess that at the beginning of the book I wasn't enjoying that much. Not because it wasn't good, but the story took sometime to actually make the characters interact. But after, maybe 30%, It got a lot better.

I loved the hero and the heroine. It is a story about second chances. Not to a lost lover, but second chances with yourself, ya know. Know yourself, what you love, LOVE yourself to be open to let in someone else in your heart. I started not loving it to finished looking like a cartoon with hearts flyng off my eyes. I looooved Carrie and Jayden time together and I have to say my favorite chapter of this one was the last. I loved how it ended, it looked like that was actually a real story. I want a lover like Jayden! By being narrated only by him, knowing his feelings, I found the perfect man in a book. Now I'm here thinking I want a lover like that... I highly recommend it.

English:
It is the first book that I read of this author, and when I saw that the protagonist was a successful romantic novelist, I opted for it. It's a very well-structured novel that takes its time, it makes you want to keep reading to see if they whether or not they are given the opportunity, it becomes addictive. 😮

Jayden Evans is a best-selling author, who has just found his wife cheating on him with the pool boy and all this creates a writer's block. He gets on a plane to Connecticut to discuss his next book with his CEO publisher. On that same plane is Carrie Bell, a 26-year-old art student who looks nothing like her family, she at least has her feet on the ground. She also just found her boyfriend cheating on her and flies home with a broken heart.

Jayden Evans is a character that is with a huge writer's block, his muse of the writing was his wife and now that he found him sleeping with another, he doesn't get the inspiration. The truth is that the relationships he maintains with several women and his ex-wife are insane, they are out of their minds. Even so, little by little he opens up and love returns to him, although it takes a little time. At the presentation of MR. Right I thought everything he said was so sweet. 😍
Carrie Bell feels lonely and devastated, not only because her boyfriend cheated on her, but because her family is crazy, her sister and her mother are too desperate. 😂 She is always reluctant to have a new relationship and give love a chance, but at the end of the book, it is comprehensible. The book is written from Jayden's point of view gives us little information about her. 🙄

Apparently the “hero” is whoring around for the first 30% of the book. Vomit. Oh and the heroines mother tries to fuck him and gets completely naked. While he doesn’t sleep with her, he does admire her body and finds her extremely sexy.

⭐️ 3.5 "Dove" Stars ⭐️
Mr. Write is a lovely and funny story! Monica James wrote this book only from the hero’s perspective and I found it so refreshing.

Jayden is a very popular author, but since he caught his wife cheating, he has writer’s block. When he meets Carrie, inspiration is back and he’d do anything to keep the words flowing. I couldn’t help but laugh at Jayden’s internal thoughts that were hilarious. It's what made this book the most entertaining for me!

While I enjoyed this story, there was a missing spark between Jayden and Carrie in my opinion. I couldn’t feel their supposed connection as much as I wanted. Another thing that bothered me a little is the pace of the story. The book is rather long and almost the first half of the book is on a short span of 24 hours, where Jayden is mostly a little of a womanizer. The rest of the book is cute, but too rushed toward the end with the drama happening. So these few things put together made a difference in my global appreciation of this story.

Overall, Mr. Write is an adorable romantic comedy with emotional moments scattered here and there. Monica presented something a little different that just didn't completely work with me, but some people will assuredly find this novel very appealing.

Amusing, Sweet & Engaging!

Mr. Write is a charming tale that takes us into the life of Jayden Evans, a best-selling author, as he attempts to move on from a dead-end relationship.

Elizabeth was the love of his life and the inspiration behind his books written about true love. At least she was up until six months ago when she tore out his heart and ripped it in two. After that, he could no longer find the words. They just stopped, leaving him in a funk. To drown his sorrows, he turns to the bottle and starts sleeping around. Although he soon tires of this lifestyle and begins longing for a change.

One day while heading to his publisher's house, he meets the lovely Carrie Bell. She is beautiful, smells of strawberries and is so different from the women that he is used to. She ignites a spark within him and the words suddenly come flooding back in.

Wanting to help him with his new book, Carrie flies with him to Paris, the city of love. While there, Jayden begins experiencing feelings that he thought were long dead. Could she be the one for him? His soulmate? His second chance at love?

This story felt like a fresh and new take on a second chance romance. I thought it was very well written with a cast of quirky, engaging and authentic characters. I absolutely loved it! If you're looking for a sexy, heartwarming and satisfying read, then please make sure to check this one out.

Totally enjoyed this book!

I was smiling, giggling and swooning over this story.

It’s funny, it’s sexy, it’s full of OMG & WTF moments that leave you questioning would you?

And the chemistry Jayden has with the lady, off the charts HOT!!

Loved all the references & similarities of being an author and what crazy things are witnessed when meeting their fans. It made the book more authentic to us book lovers as well as writers.

You will have to read this book to find out what happens to Jayden after he meets Carrie & if Mr. Write can get his writing mojo back & find his real true love!

5 Star Review of Mr.Write by Monica James
Monica James is a new author to me and I cannot for the life of me understand why that is.
Jayden Evans aka J.E.Sparrow and Carrie meet by accident on a flight. Despite the fact that Jayden, an author with writer’s block, is trying to get over his soon to be cheating ex-wife Elizabeth, he is drawn to Carrie. Sure he hasn’t been celibate for the past six months, but sadly all he has indulged in are one night stands which meant nothing.
For the first time in over six months, he is intrigued and interested in the elusive Carrie, despite himself. I actually liked Jayden, even though he was a jerk at times but once he and Carrie got together he really turned around and redeemed himself.
There were plenty of twists and turns throughout the story, even if some were a tad predictable and I was absolutely invested in Jayden and Carrie’s story.
I loved how Carrie refused to back down and gave as good as she got; feisty, yet vulnerable and I loved the secondary character of Nick, Jayden’s best friend and agent. Here’s hoping he gets a book of his own and we get to catch up with Jayden and Carrie.
An enjoyable story that had me laughing at times and one I recommend.

Mr. Write by Monica James is the story of Jayden.
Jayden was a romance writer after finding his muse that was his wife. But then he caught her cheating and he left her. Now of course he can't seem to write anymore, but then he meets Carrie. Carrie brings feeling back to him and makes him want to write again. Now he just has to keep her.
Some funny scenes...overall enjoyed this book.

I am not quite sure where this one went wrong, but I struggled with it.

I think it was the pacing. I thought the "get to know" portion of this was too long, and I really felt the scene on the airplane went on too long.

Jayden and Carrie then start a plan to find romance in others, to help him write his story, and it leads them to find the romance with one another. But, by the time they got to that point in the story, I was not totally invested...as Jayden seemed to not quite be as in to Carrie as I wanted him to be. By the time I got to their romance, I was a little disconnected from the characters.

I am unable to recommend this title and won't continue reading this author.

I had the pleasure of reading Mr. Write by Monica James and what a fun loving, sometimes I wanted to throw my kindle and a very smoken Hawt kind of read!! This was my first book by Monica James and I fell in love with her writing style!! Can't wait to pick up more books by her!! : )

First I want to say how much I love the name JE Sparrow. This is the pen name that Jayden Evans goes by. Hawt right?? lol He is a best-selling author that "had" a wonderful muse in his wife. She inspired him to write all those wonderful romance books that we all love!! Buttt he ends up catching her with another man and then his writing skills came to a crashing stop. He has writers block. What is he to do???

Jayden then meets Carrie Bell, they meet on a plane in a pretty hilarious situation and he ends up feeling sparks that he hasn't felt in a long time.

Talk about some laugh out loud moments. Such a fun read!!! Will this girl be his new muse? Well of course as in every romance book we read, Mr. Write is full of drama, his ex still is trying to be in the picture and will not quit trying to get back in his good graces. Umm this is where that Kindle throwing will began...lol She tries everything in her power to hold shit over his head so he can not move on. Grrr lol Plus Jayden has deadlines for his newest book he needs to be finishing, but with all this drama going on, what is an author to do?? lol Well he may just take off to the city of love and see if this can get those juices going again?? Buttt will he take someone with him to help him out? Well you will have to pick up Mr. Write and find out what happens.

I gave Mr. Write 5 "Love me a good Author Book" Stars!!! I always have a love for reading books written about authors. I kinda feel like I am getting a glimpse in the authors mind on how their writing process goes. Sooo cool!!

Wonderful, stunning and perfect.... Two imperfect characters, perfect together....

"Mr. Write" is the first book released by Monica James this year and I hope she releases more. She made a perfect job with these two characters, because when you start this book you can't stop reading. Reading this book is like eating chocolate, you can't stop eating because it feels very good.
When i start reading "Mr. Write" i didn't expect to find a funny, perverse and hot character. Jayden have that and more but the honesty that Carrie have can desarm anyone. This is why she is one of my favorite authors. When she starts a story she does it very well.

Jayden is a big author who finds his inspiration in her beautiful and wonderful wife until the day he finds her in the hot tub with the pool guy. After that day he can't write a single word so how can he write an entire book? Perhaps sleeping with a lot of women. Jayden made a mistake and slept with his bosses daughter. Now the bosses daughter thinks they are committed to each other and forced him to spend Christmas with her family. He didn't expect to find his new muse for his new book.

Carrie has her heart broken. When she thought she had found the perfect guy for her, she catches him with her room mate. She runs away to spend Christmas with her crazy family to forget that image. She didn't expect to find a hot guy in the airplane.

Can he find the inspiration he wants? Will Carrie find her Mr. Right?

This book is full of laughs and tears, in the end you felt in love for this two characters.

Mr. Write by Monica James is a stand alone, full length romance novel. Meet this perfectly imperfect and a bit flawed characters and fall in love with them like I did.

Jayden is a best-selling author, cheated on by his wife and now he's suffering every author's worst nightmare, writers block. His soon to be ex tore his heart out and stomped on it. He desperatedly needs a change and he's about to get one.
Carrie Bell is a 26 year old art student and she's nothing like her high-maintenace family. She's down to earth, but the whole time I had the feeling she hides a secret and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Jayden is a very open character, he despises liars and I totally get him. He's honest to a fault and I loved, loved this hero. They have some pretty ups and some mega downs and he nearly lets her slip through his fingers.

Mr. Write is a enthralling story, excellent written and beautifully told. I was captivated from chapter one and read the book, cover to cover, in one sitting. I simply couldn't put it down. Mr. Write is written in the rare single male POV, is a witty and fun read, highly entertaining. This is Monica James at her best! I recommend Mr. Write and give 5+ stars.

My name is Jayden Evans. I’m a thirty-three-year-old Sagittarius who used to write about the miracle of true love and finding your forever soul mate.

Jayden is a famous romance author who hasn’t had the best of luck in the romance department, he was cheated on by his wife and lost all motivation to write his next best seller. Though things change on a plane ride when he meets art student, Carrie.

Carrie and Jayden end up going on a fun adventure to people watch for Jayden’s next novel. Anyone else think that would be a lot of fun?!? As they observe the ups and downs of relationships, theirs begins to form. Will these two find their own happily ever after?

This isn’t my first book from Monica James and it won’t be my last. I enjoyed every moment of this story from the banter, to Carrie’s crazy family, to the sweetness and the sexiness of the story. Carrie and Jayden’s instant connection and the rollercoaster of the own relationship made me never want this story to end. Though, I couldn’t have asked for a better ending to this story. It was fantastic.

This story is another one of my must reads of 2019!

Jayden Evans is a male romance author who was burned by love and is suffering from writers' block. He meets Carrie Bell, a beautiful photographer, who rekindles his desire to write again. The romance deprived duo embark on a people-watching adventure in search writing material for Jayden’s next novel.

My face hurts from grinning from Jayden’s whiskey-fueled banter. This laugh out loud rom-com was endearing, dysfunctional, super fun and had a nice touch of the feels. I should apologize for waking my husband up from my LOL while reading this book the other night. Carrie’s whacked out family reminded me of The Cleary family from the Wedding Crashers movie. I'm still laughing just thinking about it. This book is a one-click worthy breath of fresh air!

This is my first Monica James book - I have others on my kindle and just haven't gotten around to reading them yet.

I can't lie, the first 25% of this book was hard for me to get through. It wasn't the story per se, it was the characters that I just couldn't get on board with. I knew why> our leading man was doing what he was doing, but man, I just wanted to clip him around the ears and tell him he was being stupid by doing what he was doing.

And don't get me started on one of the ladies of the story. What a spoilt brat!

However, once we got past that point in the story it got a lot better for me.

I adore Jayden and Carrie as their story progresses. I laughed, I got frustrated, but most of all I wanted them to find their HEA.

Quirky, fun and flirty, I think this one was more of "it's not you, it's me". It's not that I didn't like it, I just didn't love it.

I do look forward to reading more of Ms James in the future.

Mr. Write is definitely MR RIGHT

Even though Monica had a lot going on in the first five to six chapters of this story, her writing brilliance once again shines through with her perfect manipulation of her words. It is in these first chapters that she introduces every major player involved and masterfully weaves her words into a story that will have you laughing one minute and extremely frustrated the next.

Jayden Evans, JE Sparrow (great name for a writer by the way), is one HAWT man, but he is also an author without words - his mojo has simply disappeared. Was it triggered by a situation that he just didn't see coming, or is it a result of something deeper inside his psyche? This is the answer he must discover is he is ever to write again.

On a flight to the last place on earth that he wants to be, Jayden meets Carrie and is instantly mesmerised and intrigued by her. She brings out emotions in his that he thought were long gone. however, Carrie has her own baggage and has sworn off "boys, booze and sex". Amid many twists and turns, Jayden and Carrie have a really refreshing friendship/relationship. Even with an ever annoying ex-wife and Carrie's inability to let go of her secret, I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. Of course there are the usual hiccups, but these only enable the strengths and weaknesses to be found. I loved Carries from the moment she was introduced, a sassy and feisty woman who certainly gave as good as she received.

Another character I thoroughly enjoyed and got a laugh out of was Nick, Jayden's best friend and agent. This is the friend you have when you don't have any enemies. I would love to see him have a story of his own, because this man really would have an amazing one to tell.

Once again Monica has written a story that i loved and found very hard to put down. In my eyes she can do no wrong, when it comes to storytelling. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Do yourself a favour .......... read Mr. Write.

I really don’t underderstand why I have not read any other books by Monica James because if Mr Write is anything to go by her stories are right up my alley, I loved this book !!!!
Mr Write takes us into the life of Jayden Evans aka J.E.Sparrow a best selling author who needs to move on from a relationship that broke his heart. The inspiration behind most of his books was his wife but the day she cheated on him was the day writers blog set in. Carrie Bell is very different from any woman he has ever met and for the first time in over 6 months he finds himself intrigued and interested in finding out what makes Carrie tick.
This story was full of twists and turns, Jayden wasn’t easy to like but as this story unfolds you get to see the real man behind the best selling author and what can I say about Carrie apart from she is a beautiful person inside and out, a woman who never gives up on herself or others and that makes her the perfect match for Jayden. This book make me laugh it left me smiling like a Cheshire Cat and I really hope we get more stories from the secondary characters in Mr Write.

Jayden is a romance writer. He's lost his writing mojo after finding out his wife was cheating on him. He's drowning his sorrows in whiskey and women. At first, I wasn't big fan of Jayden. He comes off as kind of jerky. There was something about him that I just didn't connect with at first. He meets Carrie on a plane. I liked Carrie and thought ok I can like Carrie and Jayden together but then they go their separate ways when they get off the plane. When he goes with Daisy, I almost put the book down. I'm glad I continued with this one because Jayden and Carrie's paths cross again and boom that's when I started to really enjoy the book. Carrie brings the good side out if Jayden. They have both been hurt from past relationships but they may just be what each other each to heal. I struggled with the first 30% or so with this book but after that I really enjoyed the story.

Yet again Monica James gives us another amazingly epic read that just draws us in loving every word!!!
I honestly didn't want to put this book down today... I've demolished every word and already want to read it again!
So Jayden is an author who's life is turned upside down when he finds his wife cheating on him.
Cassie is a photography student and is a little lost in life at that time ... they bump into each other on a flight one day and get chatting... little did they know they had more in common than they originally thought and life thrown a little surprise or two in their way.
Both broken in a way they need to see if they can help mend each other or if they will ruin each other more.
This book has fun laughter emotion lies heart break and a best friend that is hilarious... i loved Nick so much!
Monica just manages to make you absolutely love every character she writes and has you fully invested in the story so easily from the very start.
I can't recommend this book enough to everyone!

A sparkling romance that makes you smile and keeps you going all the way. Jayden is extremely touching in his ups and downs that are always extreme. The sweet Carrie back the level of her bitches that are too close to our favorite author ... It's colorful, intense and puts a good mood, what more?

Right on Target

Mr. Write was right on target. I've always wonder why people cheat. It's not like they don't have an option to end the currently relationship they're in before jumping into bed with another person. Jayden handled his situation semi-nicely. Minus the shagging of all the women after his wife's infidelity. I wasn't expecting the little secret Carrie was hiding. I would've never guess that. Bravo for pulling that off Monica! I really liked how Jayden stood his ground on his dislike on the idea of cheating. I also liked how he didn't just sweep it under the rug just because he had feelings for Carrie. I did feel like Liz was hindrance to Jayden moving on and I respect the author for giving him time to close that chapter in his life so he can move on and have the opportunity to have a chance at a healthy relationship. This was a fun quick read and I really enjoyed Jayden and Carrie's story.

2.5 stars

There were a lot of funny moments in this book and I really wish I could say I liked it more than I did. I didn't hate it, but it was just ok for me. Parts of it seemed to drag and there were things about the H got in the beginning had me rolling my eyes more than once. I mean, I like sexy times as much as the next girl, but...

Overall. like I said, it was just ok for me. I have really enjoyed this author in the past but I seem to struggle a little with her books lately. Maybe my reading tastes have changed. It happens, you know? Anyway, I wouldn't steer you away. I think many people will enjoy this one, it just didn't really do much for me.
