While the snow may slow down your commute, some communities are celebrating.
In Turner, the snow comes in time for a big annual event in the town. The 20th Anniversary Lunger 100 vintage snowmobile race.
"It's a fundraiser for the club so it takes a lot of money to maintain the big equipment that grooms these trails – so we use it for gas, parts and all those expenses, signage," Turner Ridge Riders secretary Betsy Sibley said.
The town serves as crossroads for riders who stop and spend money at area stores.
"Last year we had a lot of snow, this year not so much. It's very handy for them to be able to stop here get their gas, have lunch and be able to head right out. It's a wonderful trail system," Angello's General Store owner Tracey Angello said.
People in town said they are thankful for Thursday's snow, but want more.
"You know it's Maine. We need the white stuff so that we can get people riding the sleds in, gassing up, heading to the ski areas, whatever they choose for their winter wonderland," Sibley said.
