Bayreuth Festival Announces 2020 Ring Cycle

The Bayreuth Festival has announced its 2020 Ring Cycle.

The festival announced that Pietari Inkinen will conduct the new production by Valentin Schwarz, both making notable debuts.

The Ring Cycle will see Lise Davidsen perform the role of Sieglinde, Andreas Schager in his signature role as Siegfried in “Siegfried,” Petra Lang as Brünnhilde in “Die Walküre,” Daniela Köhler as Brünnhilde in “Siegfried,” and Christine Goerke as Brünnhilde in “Götterdämmerung” in her company debut.

The cast will also see Stephen Gould as Siegfried in “Götterdämmerung,” Georg Zeppenfeld as Hunding, Klaus Florian Vogt as Siegmund, Günther Groissböck as Wotan / Der Wanderer, Stefan Vinke as Loge, John Lundgren as Alberich, Christa Mayer as Fricka and Ain Anger as Hagen.

This year’s Bayreuth Festival opens on July 25, 2019 with a new production of “Tannhäuser” starring Stephen Gould and Lise Davidsen and conducted by Valery Gergiev in his company debut.
