Sign-up for Opensourced - Our monthly discussion club!
A Srishti SIGCHI Student Chapter Initiative with the aim of increasing discussions and spreading knowledge about diverse topics related to design and technology.

How it works -

At the beginning of the month, you will receive the chosen read/documentary/podcast via your email. As the month progresses we'll be teasing you with topics and themes of discussion that could be interesting tangents to talk about.
Last Saturday of the month is when all of us will get on a Zoom call to discuss the theme of the month and have fun, interesting, and critical conversations with a few planned activities!

Topic of the month for August:

From patient care to online learning, human-centred design addresses a variety of issues with research and tools that can help us better understand our world and ourselves. But without careful consideration for the social dimensions of innovation, we risk reinforcing longstanding forms of inequity and injustice, and even producing new forms of discrimination and exclusion.

For this month's Opensourced we look into the keynote speech delivered by Ruha Benjamin at ACM CHI 2021: Which Humans? Innovation, Equity, and Imagination in Human-centred Design

In this one hour long keynote, she examines and presents conceptual tools we can use to think about the social values embedded in our research, pedagogy, and designs.

Discussion Date: Saturday, 28 August 2021, 6:30pm-7:30pm IST
