The 2021-2022 Program of Study for both Hinsdale Central and South are presented here for review by the Board of Education. Each year course offerings, sequences, fees and academic information is revised by each building to accurately reflect the courses in which students can enroll for the next school year.  This is the second year that changes have been made to the Program of Study at both schools in an effort to align curricular offerings across the District.  The first step in this process was the creation of alignment charts included at the beginning of each department section.  These alignment charts are identical for both schools and indicate all the courses offered identically on both campuses and those that are specific to one campus or the other.  As part of the ongoing work under Goal 1 of the District 86 Strategic Plan, the District is moving toward a single District 86 Program of Studies for both Hinsdale Central and South.

In addition to the Program of Study documents, an overview page is also included here.  It highlights the specific changes made in each document for the 2021-22 school year.  Most of the changes are identified as curriculum alignment work: moving closer to equal access to all courses regardless of home school.  The ongoing work of the science curriculum writing teams is evident in this document with the introduction of the Chemistry of Earth Systems course as an option  for all students.

Specific course fee changes have been included in the Programs of Study for this first reading.  All proposed fee changes will be brought to the November BOE Finance Committee meeting for review and discussion.  All fee revisions made by the Finance Committee will be reflected in the final draft of each Program of Studies prior to the November 17th BOE meeting. Most proposed fee changes are the result of aligning course fees on both campuses and the modification of fees as District 86 continues its shift from traditional instructional resources (textbooks) to digital resources.
