Womp, womp, womp....Oh dear Karma dishes out the sweetest revenge, if you believe in her. Personally I believe that you get what you give..and Jussie Smollett is getting a royal taste of his own medicine.
In case you've been living under a rock, Smollett reported to authorities that he was attacked by two white men in MAGA hats. After an investigation, it turns out the actor was not attacked by racist, homophobic Trump supporters. Rather, he hired two Nigerian brothers to stage an attack for publicity.
So of course, the "Empire" star was under heavy fire and charges were filed against him for the fraudulent accusations. Then, the charges were suddenly dropped.
I wonder how the flaming liberal got out of that...probably had nothing to do with the fact that he's a friend of the Obamas, right?
Now Chicago is suing Smollett for investigative costs!
The city's resolve to take Smollett to civil court follows a surprising decision by prosecutors in March to drop all criminal charges accusing him of staging the incident, saying they believed they could prove the charges but that it wasn't worth the time and expense.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel denounced the decision as "a whitewash of justice," and others criticized the Cook County state's attorney's office for not requiring an apology and an admission of guilt from Smollett as a condition for tossing the case.
The suit comes after Smollett refused a demand that he send the city $130,106 to reimburse Chicago for overtime as police sought to verify Smollett's account, included that his attackers yelled slogans supportive of President Donald Trump.
The lawsuit doesn't include a specific monetary figure, but suggests the amount the city will seek from Smollett will be higher than the $130,000.
Smollett is allegedly maintaining his innocence. However, he agreed to do community service, as well as forfeited the $10,000 spent in bail money.
If he was innocent, why would he agree to that? Sounds like an admission of guilt if you ask me.
