Gift Of Life calls on government to protect the rights of the coronavirus

The anti-abortion group Gift Of Life has called on the Maltese government to safeguard the rights of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

While scientists scramble to find a vaccine for the virus that has infected tens of thousands of people across the globe, the ‘pro-life’ group insists it should instead be allowed to live and multiply inside people.

“A virus is a form of life – a precious gift from God whose rights should be enshrined in the constitution. Any attempt to destroy it is tantamount to murder,” said Gift of Life president Paul Vincenti.

Vincenti added that anyone infected with Covid-19 should let it run its course, even if it proved fatal.

“If you didn’t want to get Covid-19, you should have taken precautions, like wearing protective clothing, not touching anything and holding your breath at all times.

“And besides, if you don’t want to keep it, you can easily give it to someone else,” he said.

Vincenti also announced that Gift Of Life would be holding a pro-virus protest outside Mater Dei hospital tomorrow.

“We will be giving a voice to the voiceless and marching under banners such as “Life begins at cough-ception”.

President George Vella, who is formerly a doctor, has endorsed the protest.
