Hello Beauties,

I am so excited to introduce to you a new feature on my blog titled 'Beauty Highlight'!

This is where I get to interview unique and inspiring individuals and companies that are making their stamp in the beauty community/industry, or their area of influence in a positive way.

I love what Covert Beauty represents and I am excitedly awaiting to receive my 'Sisters in Arms' eyeshadow palette!!!

Guess what?!  Sabella and I have collaborated in the past during her modeling era. She's not only physically beautiful but a great balance of strength and sweetness too.

Okay, I'll hush so you can check out the interview.

What is the name of your company and what products or services  do you offer?

The name of my company is Covert Beauty. It is a beauty brand with a purpose. As of now, we currently have mink eyelashes, eyelash adhesive, compact LED travel mirrors and eyeshadow palettes for purchase. We also have product bundles as gift sets that we're happy to send off with a personal note option.

Is there a unique story behind your brand?

Covert Beauty is a brand for the people! It's a brand of advocacy that does it's best to contribute to the solutions of the societal issues brought forth. For instance, our eyelash. They are each packaged in a box that resembles a storybook. This is because each eyelash is the chapter of a book inspired by the real story of someone's healing process after over adversity. These stories are shared on Covert Beauty's official podcast, It's Time To Uncovert, available on YouTube and Spotify.

Covert Beauty’s best-selling eyelash, Never Judge A Book By Its Covert: Chapter One was inspired by my personal story of how I overcame military sexual trauma. The second eyelash, Operation Covert: Chapter One, was inspired by the story of a teenager who overcame the depression/anxiety diagnoses through psychotherapy and natural supplements. The podcast is where these stories and many others are shared. Each participant is identified by their alias and selects a non-profit organization, consistent with Covert Beauty’s core values, for a portion of the proceeds to be donated to on their behalf. The organizations include, but are not limited to the Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network, National Alliance of Mental Illness, Disabled Veterans America, and Aunt Bertha.

Our eyeshadow palettes are vegan certified, waterproof, and cruelty-free. They each offer a beautiful combination of matte, shimmer, and glitter options, as well. The first eyeshadow palette, Sisters In Arms, was inspired by 15 women who have experienced military sexual trauma and are advocating for the justice of others. Each color is named after the first names of these brave women. The second eyeshadow palette, My Sister’s Keeper, was inspired by 15 men who have/currently serving in the military and stand with the victims of military sexual assault advocating for justice. Covert Beauty used each of their first names as colors in this eyeshadow palette.

Are you based in the USA?

Yes. We are based in The Greater Houston Area of Texas.

Do you have any products or services about to launch?

Covert Beauty MEN was created in honor of the strong, influential, steadfast support of Covert Beauty's male following. Unlike any other beauty brand, a significant amount of Covert Beauty's day-one supporters are MEN! With that being said, it's only right that we accommodate our male supporters by providing a line of organic hygiene products that they will love.

A portion of the proceeds from Covert Beauty MEN's hygiene product purchases will be donated to a non-profit organization within the Covert Beauty network. These non-profit organizations are in alignment with Covert Beauty's core values, and work to provide resources that will assist our supporters inspired by the REAL stories of overcoming adverse experiences/challenges shared on our platform.

What inspires you and why?

I’m inspired by those who have/are finding ways to selflessly make their natural gifts available for the use of others. I believe that we're all created to connect with one another in some way, shape or form. This requires an openness that cannot be maintained without balance and discipline. The world needs more of this now more than ever before.

Share something random and fun about yourself.

Despite how poised I am perceived to be, I am ridiculously clumsy at times. It's so bad that I own a knee walker scooter and crutches just in case I ever need them.

What does 'beauty' mean to you?

Beauty is the tiresome, alluring process of managing your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. It is fluid and fluctuates.

Anyone who is inspired by what you do...what advice can you share?

I think it is appropriate for me to first disclose a little more about myself in order to best connect where my advice has derived. I entered the beauty industry as a model, then became a Makeup Designory (MUD) Certified Artist a few years later. Took the time to understand everything that made me feel uncomfortable in the beauty industry and got acquainted with each trigger. This eventually led me to earn a master’s in Social Work which I am now a Licensed Master Social Work for the State of Texas. I have been blessed to have the privilege of combining the two through Covert Beauty.

My advice would be this: study yourself and the industry of which you want to make an impact. Make the commitment to fix/manage the parts that you can on both ends as you find your own special way of creating opportunities for others. As I always say, “plenty of people sell makeup, but NO ONE will do it like I do...”
