Digital skills can play a powerful role in helping people connect, learn, engage with their community, and create more promising futures. This course can help individuals gain the digital skills necessary to engage in a digital economy and improve livelihoods. 

Who Should Enrol

The Digital Literacy Course is available for any South African.
To register, learners will need a device, such as a phone, tablet or computer, with internet connectivity and a web browser as well as a valid email address.
Additionally, each delegate would require a valid South African ID. 

Course Design

The course is designed for both self-paced individual study or classroom use. If you are completing the course through independent study, you can read the lessons, watch the videos, and complete the knowledge checks without further instruction.

In a classroom environment, the course may be used to supplement additional classroom courseware, or it may be used on its own, depending on the choices made by your instructor or learning center.

  • Participate safely and responsibly online
  • Create digital content
  • Collaborate and manage content digitally

Course Duration

The time commitment required to complete the course will vary by learner and experience level. We estimate at least 1.5 hours per module, or 9 hours to complete the full course.

Certification

Learners no longer need to take a final assessment to validate their skills. 
You will receive a 'Certificate of Completion' when you are finished with all the modules.

What is digital literacy? Giving people a skill that they can utilise technology to interact with the world around them.

What is the course about? This Microsoft Digital Literacy course focuses on:
  • Basic digital knowledge on how to use a computer
  • How to use the Internet
  • How to keep yourself and your computer safe online
  • How use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Free for all South Africans.

You will need the following:
  • Phone, Tablet or Computer with Internet connectivity
  • South African ID number
  • Email address

Once you have completed the final assessment you will get your results immediately on screen.

Your certificate will be available under your user profile shortly after you have successfully passed the final assessment.

This certificate will allow you to claim recognition of prior learning in Digital Literacy at institutions after school.

You will need an estimated 200MB of data to access and complete the Microsoft Digital Literacy course.
